Nikon D750 Expodisc Tutorial // Do you shoot with a Nikon D750? Do you use an ExpoDisc to correct your white balance? If not, you need to watch this video to learn how to use your DSLR camera to correct your white balance before editing in lightroom. We use an ExpoDisc to get the best coloring in our photos before we take them to edit. It saves us a lot of time editing and matches skin tones a lot better than our camera on its own.

I've used the expodisc with my D3500 and it was easy to set the WB. I just got a D7500 and have watched several "setting WB with D7500" but I could not get it to save my life. In less than 2 Mins you have changed that! It's so much easier to set the WB with this camera! Thank you and Kudos for making it easy for me, great video and I'm subscribing!

My experience with Expodisc: 1. I bought the 77 mm size which is small for my 67 mm and 72 mm lenses, even small for my nikon 50 mm 1.8g lens. I still can use it, though, keeping it in front of my lenses. So if you decide to buy one, go for the big size 82 mm. 2. Although the white balance I get from it inside is pretty accurate it is a completely different story outside. Particularly challenging in landscape photography with different lights and reflections. On a sunny bright day I preset WB by reading from the sun and the sky above and the WB is always some 300-400 Kelvins warmer than the real scene. I read the same experience by Nikon shooters in few reviews. What I do then is to cool down the preset WB in my Nikon d610 to B2M1. On cloudy days and golden hour I need only B1M1. Important is to get to know your camera and getting some experience with different weather and light conditions. 3. Although not perfect when shooting outside it will definately help you and save some time in post editing and of course the colours are truer.

I do not know what i have done wrong. I get proper WB with the disc the camera says good. When i go to shoot its using different values for iso shutter and f stop. Ugh. Im also working with a d750 in manual mode. I think i may have pressed something to install an unwanted preset.

What if I have an older Nikon. I can't hold the white balance button. All I can do is take a picture with the expo disk and then set up this picture to my white balance. Dose it mean that it will work the same without that blinking PRE?

I tried few times, and all I get is no good, inside or outside. I decide to use the white board, and my camera says good.

if you are using remote flashes. do you need to trigger flashes when you do the PRE-CLICK?

I have a question. If I set the WB with expodisc as u state, do I do anything else to make sure my photos after I set it use that WB or do all the pictures automatically have the WB set with my expodisc? Hope that makes sense? I shoot with a Nikon d750. Also what does it mean when my camera says No Good?
@esquared.photography
@esquared.photography Год назад
You are good to go then. If the WB still looks off you can try again or every now and then we will need of alter it in editing. No good means something is not working when setting it and you will need to try again.

Thank you for the video. Have a question. Say I have set to certain ISO, Aperture and Shutter speed for a portrait. Now, when I use expodisc it says no gd. Should I be changing the ISO/Aperture/ShutterSpeed accordingly using the metering mode until the white balance says "good" with the expodisc ? Wouldn't it therefore end uo changing my settings in general ( Say bumping up/reducing the ISO, Aperture etc) ?
@esquared.photography
@esquared.photography 3 года назад
We shooot on manual. See iso and aperture. Then we place the ExpoDisc over and line up the exposure meter appropriately and then it should be good to be set.

@@esquared.photography If I understand right, you primarily set or change exposure and aperture after mounting the expodisc and not the shutter speed. Also, can I please have your suggestion on what should be my next go to lens for nikon d750 for portrait photography. I currently have nikon 50mm lens . Thank you so much for your time !!

I have had my Expo Disc for months but can't seem to figure it out. Watching your video makes it SEEM so simple. Do I have to change my white balance setting (on my menu) to anything specific when using the expo disc, or does this not matter?
@esquared.photography
@esquared.photography 2 года назад
Ours gets switched to something called PRE for WB.

Hi. One question that no one seems to answer is that, sometimes I get no-good, flash on my LCD panel. Of course I get plenty of times when I ger Good. So, what am I ding wrong when I get the no-good come up?
@esquared.photography
@esquared.photography 2 года назад
I think it’s nothing you’re doing. I think the camera is just being wonky and needs you to try again. Sometimes I find my hand is partially over the disc and that could be why as well.
@duncanlawler6426
@duncanlawler6426 2 года назад
@@esquared.photography This could be the case. I have the same problem before I used the disc.
@elizabethdotson4975

You don't put the camera in correct exposure after seeing pre and before clicking the shutter to set the white balance.

I shoot with Nikon d750 also, I would love a video on what’s the best lenses for portraits. Also, I’m having issues getting correct exposure when shooting backlit with sunset behind the subjects, what meter mode do y’all use ? Love your videos !

So, do you shoot without a lens hood? The expodisc won't go on with the lens hood. But I"m so scared to shoot without the lens hood. I don't use it for light but for protection for my lens.
