After a year of use, the 610 is not in the same league. Good camera, but the 750 may be the best overall DSLR ever made. Its fantastic. The AF improvement alone is worth the price of admission.

Good review as this is the info. I wanted. I have the D610 and was thinking of upgrading. To me it's not worth it to go D750 . not for a flip screen and wifi that I don't need. I shoot portraits and weddings and I have no issues as I use mostly prime lenses. I'm hanging onto my D610 for at least another 12months.

I already have D750 but I want a second body for another lens and I want it with kind of same button layout. please suggest me if there is too much difference between image quality, I'll manage focusing point anyway

Hey Eric. Thanks fo yr info. I'm sticking with my D600. I shot with the D750 a while ago, and It just didn't have the "feel" and the robustness of the D600. As a pro photographer, this is one of the things that I'm looking for, especially with heavy glass on the front.

I have both the 750 and 600. I’m an architectural photographer and typically shooting in RAW 8 to 12 hours a day, 5 Days a week, so I really stress them. Under these circumstances.... Image quality is very similar, but the 750 performance is improved enough to make life easier. The focus, processing, and metering is faster and more accurate with the 750. The 600 I have to play with a bit, and I have to consistently push the exposure by a stop or two, while the 750 is usually dead-on-accurate. Also, I’m an older guy with a tricky back, so that tilting screen is much appreciated! :) The sensor on both cameras is far superior to the Canons I used to shoot with. ;)

I am a D610 owner (have been for just over a year) and I am strongly considering the switch to the D750. The reason - group area AF mode. This alone is worth so much. Coming originally from the D300 I always found the D610 focussing system frustrating to use. I recently rented a D750 for a location shoot, and really found it to be the camera I was hoping my D610 was. Now in the studio this would not be as big a deal, but shooting a fast moving event, the group area AF mode - for me - is a game changer. Just my 2 cents.

I think it just interm of portrait and image quality 610 and 750 are same not a difference whats your opinion?

I had the dilemma of choosing between these two cameras and chose the 610 since I'm not a pro any way. I like the articulating screen on the 750 but when I'm shooting I don't even use it on my D5300. Prices on both cameras are down 500 but the difference between the two are 500 as well. So for me I came to the same conculsion. Paying a grand for the D610 refurbished was already a stretch. I want to check out the FX difference with my D5300 and I took the chance and this is a good choice based on this video so that makes me happy.

I'm thinking for getting this as a backup and 2nd body for during weddings. I already have the D750, but no backup. Still a wise choice in 2018 when I'm on a low budget?

I got the D750 but I kept my D7000 as its still a great camera and takes sharp pics with my Sigma 70-200mm f2.8

I recently got a D750 camera and I love it. It was exactly the camera I hoping Nikon would release. I wanted something with better video and better capabilities that the Nikon D610 and I wanted something a bit lighter and with fewer megapixels than the Nikon D810. The Nikon D750 camera fit the bill beautiful and I'm really happy the what it produces. The Nikon D610 is a really good camera but for me the Nikon D750 vs the Nikon D610, the Nikon D750 was a clear winner. Thanks for the comparison.

I came to the same conclusion that for pure image quality the D610 should suffice. I got it and took some great pictures. However, the smaller body and better processor makes this camera years ahead in technology so like buying an old computer I don't think that it's wise. I got some advice from another expert and they told me to spend the extra bucks and get the D750 and I think they're right. The D750 is on order so we'll see what it comes down to.

Hey Eric, loved the video although I am on the fence with a weird decision to make. I just bought a used Nikon D750 for mainly landscape and street photography. I'm looking to go down to a slightly used D610 to get some extra cash and get a better lens. Would I be missing much going down to a D750? I don't really use the tilt screen or wi-fi and I usually use single center point AF.

Hey Eric, I'm pretty much just looking for my first full frame camera and the D750 looks like a good choice. I don't really do video and I'm just into portrait and landscape mostly. However the D610 is cheaper but my only worry is oil spots. I've read many reviews both positive and negative for the D610 and several negative reviews have mentioned oil spots on sensor just like the D600. I've also looked into the Canon 6D and it has far better reviews than the D610 and D750, however it doesn't have high dynamic range like the D750. What do you suggest?

I wanna upgrade my Nikon d3200 to the 610 due to my d3200 doesn't have "HSS" high speed sync. The 610 is capable of HSS correct w off camera flash. How fast can you get it to. 1/4000 or 1/8000. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Great Video. I have the d750 and the d7100, both with the 51 point focusing system. I'm sure the d610 with it's 39 point is also excellent and I'm not sure if the difference is worth the extra bucks. One thing I do know about both of my camera's is low light focusing ability (the lens makes a difference also). That said, using a Nikkor 24-70 recently on an assignment, shooting in a live music venue and recording studio, I had to focus on a few images of people in almost total darkness. The d750 got thru without a problem. Also,, its ability to keep the noise down is amazing. Either way, both camera's are should give someone a great tool.

Which camera did you use to capture video? How does your lighting and audio setup look like for this video?

With the talk about faster D750 focus, does that apply to still photography as well, especially in low light? As a wedding photographer, that would be important in my considerations.

Do you think that the tilt screen is fast enough? if it is too slow for even posed photos (taking group pictures), then there goes one of the reasons to get it above the D610. Regards.

Two and half years later, the D610 is still in production. Great camera for sure!

I bought the D750 few weeks ago, cant say enough what a great camera it is' the flip screen is very well build and really not something I see as a minus, just a big plus. As for comparing it to the D610, well for me the improved AF system on it was the key feature when I was considering what to buy. The D610 is no doubt an awesome camera but the way I see it if I made already the jump from DX to FX I want to get something that is more powerful and to me the money difference was worth it. But if I already had the D610 I don't think I would upgrade to the D750, the D610/600 is already an amazing camera.

i am not a professional photographer i wanted one for my kids those are growing up i wanted to save the moments and make memories so i went with d610 with 50mm g 1.8 and yes we do go on trips and vacations i use it for that purpose too. did i makde a wroung choise getting d610

I bought a d610. And few months later i saw dots in upper left hand corner on my photos. I think that this is symptome of oil issue. Is it possible that d610 still has problems with oil? Some say that yes, some say that is impossible. What do you think? Have you ever spotted something?

people talking about auto focus speed on d750 is sooooo much better then d610. But I can't believe that it is sooooo much better. I assume it is better one way or another way but it that really huge jump? I own d7000 and it's time to switch from dx to fx but hard to decide between these models. On one hand 500 euros (plus or minus) isn't that big of a deal since I'll use it for 2-3 years. But on other hand do I really need that extra. Great video!

hello,I see many many pictures in flickr and i think D610 have better quality pictures than d750.d750 portrait fotos are soft d610 i think better portrait fotos and dont soft.i dont know which buy it...and i say only for the quality.i see the snapshort d610 have 0.3 better quality than d750.d610 fx maybe its better..?if can help me for people who have 2 cameras.

Price difference in here is around 800$...Not sure if its worth the Jump...i dont mind it though..bec I want to have it for lond term. dont want to crib later. I am an enthusiast and usually use my camera for family vacations, wildlife, abstracts and portraits. Till now I was managing with my 8 year old slr 350d...now i want to go whole hog and buy a FF. The D750 would be about 500$ more expensive. Im not a pro and just love taking pictures and own a x100s from fujifilm at the moment. But i think of changing to Nikon again - i had a D300s. So i call myself a hobbyist and enthusiast. I don't do video actually so photography is important and not video. I'm thinking of maybe going semi-pro and maybe do some weddings or portrait photography. What would you recommend me to buy? 60 fps at 1080 is critical and that's prob the main reason for the price difference

I guess that video on a stills camera is just the standard now. I am from the film days so I don't get into video and although I do weddings I don't do video because I think its a specific and separate art form. Moreover, I believe there is also specific equipment for cinematography. I just don't feel DSLRs are up to par with actual video cameras yet.

Can you help me please Eric? I used to own the D600 but had the oil sensor problems and sent it back. I have been without a camera for 18 months now and miss taking pictures, which has been a hobby of mine for 30 years. I want to buy either the D750 or the D610. I don't shoot sports ever and the only low-light pictures would be at occasional weddings or family parties. I love doing portraits and also want to get into macro photography and the D750 flippy screen would make this easier. I also like the eye focus AF mode, but as all the AF sensors are in the middle on both cameras it would still be a case of having to focus and then reframe the camera all the time. Please can you help me. I know that the D610 is probably all that I need but I am willing to spend the extra money if and not make an expensive mistake with a D610. Oh, and I never do video. Got the D700 in top mint condition for $625! Much better color saturation and ISO performance than the D7100. It's better build and has better buttons and dials than either the D750 and D610 which I didn't like.

Still dont know what Nikon FF camera to get ...... were i live (Romania) i can get the Nikon D610 body for 1200 € and the D750 for 2000 €. Im thinking for the extra 800 euros i can get a new Sigma 35 F 1.4. I know that the D750 has the Wi-fi( witch i dont find so useful and i will use it only in the first days ) the pop-up screen( i had a NIkon D5100 with full articulated screen and even that i didnt use so much ) but the only main diferents is that AF sensor from the D4s and that -3 sensibility. I do photograph weddings and i dont want to make a big investment just because i can. The main reason it to get the most detalied shot with the miminal noise in them.

It would be nice if the screen swivel or open at the side.

In my honest opinion as a photographer the camera is not the final output it is the editing in photoshop. This are just a strategy in selling g their products. Even if u have the best dslr if you don't know how to edit ita useless for me

Neither of those cameras made it into my collection. The D750 had 4 recalls or so. And the D610 is just to much of a toy.

either it's the camera angle or the wide lens you're using but it distorts the shape of your mouth when you're talking: it appears bigger than the rest of the face. i suggest you try using a lens with a slightly longer focal distance.

Honestly Nikon just limited the D610 unnecessarily. It was Evil of them. It's all this bs that's making them go underground . Holding on to little things like changing aperture in video is ridiculous.

I suggest Nikon D610 over the D750, better color depth & better image quality! D610 is one's of the Nikon's best in my opinion...

The D610 sells at $1,200 - $1,300 these days brand new due to the crashing Yen, The price of a D610 + D7100 = D750...really a no-brainer IF you don't make a living out of photography.....The D750 has some nasty flare banding issue that needs to be resolved....Again if you have the money to buy a D750, then the D610 + D7100 combo is a much better choice!
