Nice video. I don't shoot video much anymore. I'd be very happy if Nikon would produce an F-Mount mirrorless with 20fps and 40+ megapixels .... but NO video capability. This would drop the price quite a lot, I believe. This would suit me, but vloggers will be throwing their hands up in the air.

What was the OVF focusing like? Nikon claims they've improved the AF module for optical viewfinder, yet no one seems to comment on this.

so it doesnt take a grip ,, buy a d850 this is another two step back job like the 7500 , what is it with doing away with grips , i need vertical grips on my cameras .

Still don't see a reason to buy D780 for that price when you can get z6 even cheaper. Or go with D850. Yeah, it has great live view focusing, so does canon cameras from 2016

Let's hope the QC on the D780 is much better than on the D750. That camera stunk on release. Good to see they upped the SS to 1/8000. The introductory Oz price is ridiculous and uncompetitive. It is also noticeably higher than the price of the camera O/S. I would say wait 12 months if you want one or buy a D850 instead.

How about the video autofocus on 3rd party lens like the sigma art

The 2 slots don't back your video up - Nikon really need to be able to do this in 2020.

Did a shoot with my very old D810 and still have absolutely no reason update with anything that's come out recently. Even Roadtesting a Sony A9 2 years ago I could give that crap back fast enough! Grab any camera and enjoy life.

D750 is not polycarbonate, or not all of it, just the front center part, the lower part, back and top are magnesium

hows the continuous autofocus of video?

The price doesn't make sense. I am waiting for the d750 price to drop to get one. hopefully i don't regret it.

Only good if already have a lot of the older nikon and 3rd party lenses, as a 1st camera would not bother getting it, z50 or z6 better option, price will drop fast by the half year

👎🏽 for that intro. Just kidding 😂 Still using the D700 and D750. Other than eye focus, and real-time preview through the the electronic viewfinder, ML still doesn’t do anything my DSLRs don’t. And since the product of great images are more in the lens than the camera, technologically speaking, I see no reason to upgrade. When I do, Nikon probably won’t make DSLRs anymore and I’ll probably get the D780 at a steal.

Great review well done and great camera upgrade from D750 but its should have had a battery vertical control capable grip just like D750 . In addition the RRP $3899.00 AUD is deluded and crazy for a device made in Thailand that takes photos in 2020. It's No wonder DSLR sales are crashing . The Nikon imaging/camera business being one of the smaller sub companies of the 40 main businesses that forms the Mitsubishi group in Japan has lost the plot big time. Their revenue is massively down and Nikon are in big trouble. Their board members are way out of touch now on their prices and have been very slow on bringing the new tech to the consumer EG: Mirrorless has missed the boat and upgraded basic interfaces like touch screens thats a been available on smart phones for years and years. Now Nikon are doing stupid things like removing a normal battery grip vertical control on this new D780 . This is crazy . Nikon want you to upgrade from D750 that has vertical control to 780 with out and pay more than double the price ? this doesn't make any sense . This is why people have taken to smart phone photography . Resolution has evolved to the point even iPhone can resolve high enough still and video in 4K and that is proving difficult to justify the crazy hight asking prices of these new dslr/mirroless devices today. These crazy high prices are making these devices obsolete over night . The average 18-30 year old can't afford this $3899.00 price ,its so stupid. They are not going to sell its just like the Z6-Z7 flop as they were priced way too high. The average person that this is marketed towards and its not the pro who gets paid either , isn't going to drop $3899.00 on it . Instead of spending $3899.00 which is now the very high price in Australia for this D780 you could: 1. fly business class to Hawaii and back plus pay for a weeks accommodation and still have change in your pocket. 2. buy one apple mac , an iPhone XS and Iwatch and still have money left over . 3. buy a really good second hand car and still have money left over . 4. buy a dedicated video camera that shoots 60 fps at 4k and have money left over . 5. invest in shares and make 10-18 % per annum. 6. drop $3899.00 on the D780 and watch your investment drop over night month by month as Nikon will be discounting it after a few months because it won't sell at this price just like the Z 6 and Z7 is being heavily discounted now.

D780 very heavy. Not for grandmothers or people with hand arthritis or shoulder pain. I switched to Z6 ii instead.

A comparison of the old model with a new model is wrong.

Great camera and great results. Shame there's no built in flash. But at double the price of a D750 it's only worth it if your a pro-or semi pro-photographer or are really into video making & with a lot of money to burn. And don't forget your going to need buy a really good lens too. If your just an enthusiastic amataur but like nice gear & not bothered about video making its better to buy the D750 & then buy a really good lens with the money saved. If you still want a good video camera then with the saving on buying a D750 instead you could also buy a dedicated 4K camcorder for a third of the price which are so much easier to use for video than bulky DSLR with a mega expensive lens sticking out & it would still work out being cheaper than a D780. And don't forget the price of the D750 should really start to drop now.

You completely ignored the fact one is a 24.2mp sensor and the other is a 24.5 BSI sensor. BSI is a huge deal in video and high iso performance.

How is the IBIS ?
