Nikon D800E Field Test with Nick Devlin 

This video has made me want to just go out and spend a whole day walking and taking landscape photos.

Thanks Jordan and Chris for the informative video, I enjoyed it thoroughly. It introduced me to the fun of landscape photography. Was in Taiwan recently shooting the beautiful landscapes of Taroko Gorge, and this video was on my mind.

Good video guys - I find your reviews very grounded and appropriate. I didn't get the E just the 800 probably because I got a bit scared that I'd be living too much with Photoshop. Turns out I'm knocked out anyway by the D800, From my old D700 this was an enormous leap for the work I do. From the sunny UK many thanks and keep up that hard (yeah right) work.

You know I gotta admit, when I first read the spec sheet for the d800e, I was pretty skeptical. I really thought nikon had overstepped themselves but I'm happy to proven wrong. Its nice to see that the technology progressing the way it is. Very exciting time to be a photographer!

The Nikkor 16-35 VR, 50mm F1.4 G, 85mm F1.8G and 70-200 F2.8 VR II are all outstanding lenses. Everyone of these can resolve the detail the sensor is capable of resolving. Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

Great video on landscape photography with the Nikon D800E! I haven't seen any videos and very little reviews on the D800E and regular D800 shooting landscape. So yeah, well done. :) I would REALLY like to see a video on macro photography with the D800E (maybe even versus the D800).

With a waterproof housing, how do you guys think the Nikon D800 would go for underwater filming, as compared to similar cameras like the Canon mk iii?

That's my question as well, it looks super sturdy.

btw, since you do all those great outdoors videos, can you film one with the canon c500 if you can get your hands on one? and upload it in 2160p or 1440p if possible?

Which one do you recommend? Pentax or Nikon? I've heard positive comments about both, but I have a feeling that D800 is a better investment than 645D, as the price is much lower (although still expensive) for almost the same resolution. Would any of these serve other purposes besides nature? Concerts and journalism for example?

Great video. I've watched several of them, and they are all informative. As for moire, I work at Professional Photo Resources in Atlanta, GA, and have shot both a D800 and D800e side by side on a resolution chart. The D800e will show moire, but at a level that the D800 won't even resolve. Unless you're shooting fine lines a hair's breath apart, it's a non-issue.

The filter is a polarizer and works by twisting it you get less or more reflection-reduction in water or glasslike surfaces :) hope that was as good as an answer.

On his website, Nick wrote that he bought his D800 and D800e from Henry's Camera. Common guys, be honest and don't lie to the audience. Some of us are smart enough to not be duped. However, I appreciated the comparison between the D800e and the Pentax 645D.

Great video guys! I was thinking of getting the Pentax, but now rather considering the 800e.. Two questions though: 1. I have a Canon Mk5d II with Zeiss glass. Is it possible to change the rings to have them fit a Nikon? 2. I love the images I get from the Canon. In a short statement, whats the difference in image quality between the Nikon and the Canon, setting aside the obvious difference in megapixel? Thanks for getting back to me on this! why didn't you use Nikkor 24-70mm F2.8G on the d800e? i think it needs the very best lenses to really show off it's potential

Very nice video, I have been trying to decide between the D800E and D800. Plan to test and make a video of my own soon...ironically I have an E in my hands but can't seem to get my hands on the non-e.

The output of D800E is incredible, though I must say, I immediately saw the detail/resolution difference between it and the 645D at reference 10:55 . This is even watching RU-vid's much compressed 1080p feed. You could call it "slight", but it's quite easy to notice personally. It is definitely close enough though that you have to wonder if MF is worth that extra extra anymore (for anything smaller than a billboard+).

I'd grab the D800E. You'll want as much resolution as possible, and repeating patterns won't be an issue. Unless you also like shooting video, then the D800 is a better choice. Jordan @ The Camera Store TV

Great video. Would love to see the resulting prints blown up to their maximum size to see how they compare (I do large prints and currently use 4x5 to do it).

No investigative journalism going on here! I read his report on the D800/D800e that he mentioned was purchased from Henry's Camera Store (could have been his co-editor since no name was used at the end of the review. Anway it doesn't really matter...I really enjoy your videos and hope to see more dealing with equipment used for wildlife and nature photography.

I have found that even consumer DSLRs can take quite the battering, my 550d has been used in the rain, snow and blisteringly hit heat. It's absolutely fine! Of course I try not to get it wet but a light wipe off with a cloth is fine!
