Hey, nice repair. I did the same thing yesterday. But I noticed: When I connect the old motor to a 9V battery, it turns with no problem... So now I'm not sure if buying a new motor will fix the problem or if it's something else. Do you know what the exact reason for the failing motor is?
I sort of remember this repair, so there is also a mini gear that is attached to the motor. That broke (either the teeth were broken or it did not spin when the motor spun, like the middle broke and spun freely) so in theory, you could just replace the gear. But I figured since i was that far into the camera, might as well replace both. I think the total cost for both was under $15 on ebay or something.
@@JamesNickersonThePhotoShopGuru Do you know if there is any preventative maintenance that should be done to avoid this? It just happened to my camera. I got another off ebay but if waving a dead chicken over it would help I'd do it. Ever heard of anyone replacing the gear with brass? I have no idea if mixing brass and nylon is even a good idea, assuming the fundamental problem here is that there is too much mechanical resistance in the design for the gears to handle over time.
Hi, how to u know it was the motor? what was the symptoms? My D90 having Error message r19 .. can not press the shutter but the mirror is not stuck. Happened during video recording, then LV accidently pressed .. then not working anymore. T.I.A.
When you click the shutter, it makes a noise like its trying to rotate, but nothing happens. R19 means the shots stuck in buffer, it's not so much an error. So it may be a memory issue or something if it won't go away. Either try taking out the battery/sd for a while or try to reset it (Image quality/size button + Exposure Compensation button) and see if that helps. Так делать нельзя, во первых как можно так кидать матрицу, во вторых вы поставили новый моторный блок - он через несколько тысяч пробега опять треснет шестеренка, нужно было просто склеить и усилить шестеренку втулкой как это делают многие! You can't do this, firstly, how can you throw the matrix like that, secondly, you put a new engine block - it will crack the gear again after a few thousand runs, you just had to glue and strengthen the gear with a sleeve, as many do!
