hmm not sure on that one.. you will laugh but I never use camera settings ... hmm sorry id have to break out my camera from some old bags to take a look. Wish I could help. there is a reason i do not use defined camera settings no offense.

Very strange. I am not sure why your VR is turned off doing 4K video ?? Do you have digital zoom or some other settings turned on ? I can have VR turned on when filming in 4K??? So at this point not sure what is going on with your camera ?

@@slingshotversus2448 If that is the case my bad, I could of swore 4k and vr worked together.

I noticed the same thing. I think on the canon 90D (from reading instructions, I don't own a 90D)and many other cameras this is also the case, the VR/Stabilization doesn't work on them or they crop the 4K movies size, and/or other features are limited.

ahh ok, a few ways, You can put the camera in slow continuous shooting or fast multiple shooting versus single shot ? If you are in continuous shooting and have to wait for the buffer to clear that is another issue. .. HOpe this helps.

Thanks for your reply. With i shooting single shot there are at least two or 3 seconds before I can do another one. For example on a standard SLR there is no latency problem, it is easier to take a photograph more quickly.@@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE

Mine goes fairly fast like I will shoot then it refocuses then shoots again. Is it SD card ? Maybe some setting but very strange. Mine does not take 2 or 3 secs for sure@@lecros2485

Ok, this is variable. I would go with max long exposure which is 30 secs I think. Now use your brightest aperture at the focal length for me it was like 24mm @F3.5 or 4.5. NOW test your stars and brightness to your ISO. Really that is the only thing you can play with. If you have bright starts You might be able to get away with ISO 400 or ISO 800. If you need brighter stars/Moon go up in ISO to you get what you like. I hope this helps. It is a complex process and you are dealing with a super super small sensor.

If I may ask, are you familiar with the sigma 150mm-500mm lens? As another option, I was looking at this along with a camera body that's most suitable for astrophotography. I'd appreciate any advice about this idea. Thanks again!

ohh those external flash is only possible through Nikon proprietary flash units just an FYI. So those cheap flashes will not work it is a total pain.

Sadly the camera makers sometimes do this to Make you upgrade…. Sadly right ??

Sandy, I can say it is a huge difference... Remember that everything you touch on your P1000 or P950 is recorded with the camera mics. With a small cheap external mic that connects to the camera it is soo much better night and say if you move the camera around or are fiddling with the camera as you do video work. I am thinking of creating a video on differences between pure video cameras and DSLRs/mirrorless and mobile phones and dedicated video cameras. Thanks again !

Yes, video is a completely different animal. Coming from photographer to video it is a big eye opener in all the things you mentioned. Super telephotos handheld doing wildlife is just about impossible outside of small stabilized bits of video say 8 seconds or so . Talking with other videographers they are surprised and impressed with the video quality us photographers are pushing these cameras with extreme zooms. Sadly, it is a balance of weight / portability / quality. National Geographic has excellent video quality but their gear takes several men to setup and move. Watch the making of hostile planet and they are setting up 25lb to 250lbs worth of gear and lenses that cost $70,000.00. So I guess I will always try to keep things in perspective. @@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE Yes, those guys were the ones who pushed Canon Cameras to come up with a massive $75,000.00 USD 20 x 1000 compact zoom (still is huge) so they can stay farther away from subjects, but still get closer. If you really want to do things right with live action nature shooting, then there's few shortcuts one can really take.

This is a much needed service, since the grand majority of RU-vid posts are really caca video from bad hand held 3000mm, out of focus video clips ! It's really frustrating to watch all that stuff. It's much easier to inform users to simply, 1. Turn off auto focus. 2. Put your P series camera on a sturdy tripod. 3. Lock your exposure.

@@alex.afshar-film The mic is super sensitive , any touching the camera as you film make sounds. Any wind makes sounds, any zooming makes sounds. i prefer external for sure.

@@alex.afshar-film ohh yea sorry for the confusion. That works great for things like this.

Well that is a good point. Let me first say at 2000mm anything makes the camera shake.. Just a slight movement that is HUGE amount of zoom. The manual zoom is actually not that bad it is slow and precise. So yes you will have to rotate the wheel many times at first but once you get focus close then you can focus in and out without really taking your thumb off the wheel its not that bad but again your milage might vary. The nice thing about 2000mm and point and shoots is the extra DOF helps so it is not so razor sharp like an 800mm f5.6.. Hope this helps. Best to try one at best buy if possible.

@@graphics1955 from what I was testing there is a back well that can be used for re-adjusting the focus. It is like up and down that can help override if I remember.

Look into the video resolution. SO try 720p or 1080p if you are using 4K. If i remember the P1000 would only do 720p resolution in slow motion. I will have to look that one up as well.

Not really a good slow motion camera. I think if it does any slow motion say 120fps that would be in 720p as the 1080p is a max of 60 fps. Hope this helps.

Thanks for watching. When I zoom in our out small things change like compression of the lens. It is best to hit the wheel button in the back to make the camera refocus again. So even if the focus is suppose to be the same you still have to deal with lens compression and accuracy of the original focus that and the fact that you might of moved your camera slightly. If zooming in and out best to put on AF/Full time ! Hope this helps.

Yes depending on you drivers of your labtop and the power of your machine. 8k Video or raw video is horrible playing because it is so intense to play back. Might want to look at another machine to see if that still happens. Make sure all your drivers are updated for whatever video playback or editing software you are using.

@@peteseymour5204 Yea if you can try it on another PC or ipad editing and playback see what works. It should not be the camera thou. If it plays back on your camera ok then it is probably the pc or mac drivers.

Hmm without me being there difficult to say. I will say if it is low light the evf and back of the screen will try to amplify the light to make it more clear but has a difficult time. You evf is about 2.3 megapixels where your image is 16 megapixels so it might come out more in focus. Many times when I do focus zoom it seem blurry as well. There is a way to adjust the viewfinders diopter so if you have glasses it can adjust to your eyesight as well. You might want to look at that as well. My viewfinder diopter is always getting changed when I pull it in and out of a camera bag. Wish I could be more help. ! Good luck

I use aperture mode and manual on both video and photography. I always set my iso as low as it can go with ability to hold enough for sharp images. Same goes for video. The auto modes work but have higher noise and less detail

@@bacopa9705 It is very hard to say your needs. You can get great images out of the camera but it is not like a DSLR or Full Mirrorless system.

Excellent I might try to do that this year. I do not do much lunar type astro photography but have done a few moonshots which the p1000 is really nice at doing.

@MAKE_PHOTOGRAPHS_ANYWHERE did you see my video link? This is a rare opportunity to do the unthinkable with a p1000. During the eclipse it will be bright and the dark. I plan to zoom in past the glare before and after the total eclipse to see what only a p1000 type camera can like solar flares. But I am wondering what would you think the best ISO setting would be?
