Thanks for the kind comment ..not sure what you mean by APP ..i edit my RAW photos in Nikon's NX studio which free and i edit my videos in Davinci Resolve 18 which has a free version which is an extremely powerfull editing suite and needs a good PC to get the best out of it ..hope this helps

It is a great camera with a fantastic zoom and for the price you cant go wrong and i'm glad you liked the video ....i'm still learning with it but i have some unique footage taken with it for my next instalment of " All the gear n no Idea "
Very interesting, getting my P950 tomorrow and so I'll have to work through all your vids now. Pretty much starting from scratch, so your experiences will be very useful. Our friends who relocated to that part of Spain may receive a visit from us sooner than expected! 🙂

I recently bought this camera and going to set it up. I want to take pictures of the moon using the zoom on it and I have read it does a great job. Your wildlife captures are stunning.
Some amazing shots there. It is amazing how one camera can be a game changer for wildlife photography. I am still trying to figure out my Nikon D7200 I got for Christmas last year. I need to work out the video mode! I recognise some of your photos as having been taken in the Rambla de los Morearas in Bolnuevo.
Fiona ...yes it truly is an amazing camera that has opened up another world for me using the superzoom does allow some different shots to be taken from quite a distance ....yes the Flamingo etc were taken at Bolnuevo as i had seen yours and Roger's photo's from there

Very interesting. I am still using my old, battered P510 as it's small and I can have it with me while I'm working round the farm. I have not done anything about upgrading yet as I'm torn between a P950 and something with a larger sensor, largely because we have owl (barn and tawny) here and low light conditions are no friend to small sensors. A Sony a7s3 with a 600mm f4 would obviously do great things but I can't see me lugging that around day in day out on the off chance of an interesting shot. The "domestic management" might have something to say about the cost too!
Yes its a tough call when deciding how much weight you are prepared to carry over a long period as it soon becomes a chore and the enjoyment goes out of the window but the P950 does have an extremely good zoom lense for the KG weight ... but yes a bigger sensor and better glass would also be on my list if i was doing lots of stationary photos from a hide etc ...maybe a 2nd hand D500 and Sigma 150 - 600 sports lense but its alot of weight so its then a tripod or monopod
@@digger360 Many thanks for the reply. The used market does seem to offer some interesting options. There are some vintage manual focus non-stabilised lenses including primes that are going for give-away prices compared to their new cost. Maybe marrying one to a body with IBIS would be an interesting option. I'm also considering a Sony RX10 iv though going somewhat backwards in "reach" for a 1" sensor feels like it may disappoint as I'm forever cranking the P510 out to 1000mm now.
I have been using Nikon Coolpix for 10 years - I started with the 510 model, then 610 and now my B700 camera. It is noticeably weaker than the 950, but it also shoots 4K very well. Its main property is its weight of 600 grams. And I never think about leaving it at home before riding a bike. A good tripod (+1.75 kg) I also take with me in my backpack. Yes, the noise and grain in the photo are not encouraging.... However, not so long ago I started using TOPAZ - I recommend it. For both photos and videos. He truly does wonders! My son has a Nikon D850 and I tried it - fantastic stuff. But... it's never in my backpack when I really need it...
I started with a P530 but solely used it in Auto everything ....but since buying this P950 i have been learning to use various modes ... i should really carry a tripod when out walking as it would make the video smoother but i found it took too long and the birds had gone before i set up ...i edit my raw photos in Nikon NX studio which is free but i could also use Davinci Resolve if i convert them with Adobe DNG converter which is a lot of hassle just to put a picture on FB or YT
@@digger360 For birdwatching - I just choose a good position: for example, at a feeder or a water field, set up a tripod and wait calmly ... As soon as I stop sudden movements and the birds get used to it, they fly in and pose for me for my masterpieces. Nikon NX and Adobe DNG are editors. But Topaz is different. This is a program for creating miracles.Fantastic noise reduction and image sharpening - after TOPAZ I get a result comparable to the result of APS -C DSLR
Where i live in southern spain you need to keep moving the flies will drive you insane otherwise.... i did try a hide a few times to photo some Bee Eaters but it was 40c in the tent !! and the flies became unbearable after 15 mins so packed up ..but i may try again ..watch this space ...yes i know what you mean about the quality of NX etc ...Davinci Resolve paid version is really powerfull and the colour page is up there with the best but i dont really worry about the difference between NX and Davinci as most of my photos are just on social media
You could be right ...as I'm not really that good ...but I am using Davinci Resolve to stabilise and slow the footage down. All the photos / video are handheld
Thanks for watching and liking my video ...yes i do own a tripod but TBH i never carry it with me as thats another couple of KG's to carry all day whilst out walking and i dont trust myself to have the camera attached to the tripod and slung over my shoulder and in most cases by the time i attach the camera im sure the bird will have gone !!! and like you i am a complete novice as well who has just got lucky occasionally
Not sure i'm the right person for this answer as i have never owned a DSLR ....but i'm guessing the DSLR will easilly win the vote as they have a different system with the lense and again from what i have read its all about the lense really and not really the camera body as such .....but i have to say i have thoroughly enjoyed learning photography using the P950 and its a very capable camera if you need / want a lightweight zoom camera with 2000mm its very hard to beat 👍
