Which should you buy, the Nikon P1000 or the Nikon P950? Both are great superzoom bridge cameras but is the extra zoom of the Nikon P1000 worth its extra size and weight? Let's find out! #MrZoom #Nikon #P1000
It looks to me you are recording on the p1000 and just zooming in and out to the same magnification as the p950. But I wanna see 2 separate videos for video quality (side by side).
They sound heavy but I just put my Pentax K1 and Canon EOS Ra on the scale and they both weight over 2000g with lens on them that only reach 135mm... these Nikons are really amazing for the price and weight.. and Zoom
It would be better to zoom in on a bird or something at a closer distance. The further you look the less impressive. You have to draw a line. Otherwise you may aswell say why get the p950 when it only reaches 560mm more than the B700. When you are trying to fill the frame and you maybe use a slight bit of cropping that extra 1000mm can be huge.
Both P1000 and P950 are essentially the same, except for the weight, size and zoom range. I got the P950 because it is slightly cheaper, easier to carry around and 2000mm is good enough for me.
And probably better image quality then the P1000 at 83x zoom, but ofcourse this video doesn't show that, its a misleading video and a straight lie, he didn't even show any P950 LOL
Hello, I have a question for you. I have the Nikon P950. Last night I got some great pics of the moon. Both in moon mode and in Manual mode. The question I have for you is when I am in manual mode and switch to manual focus, I am unable to change the aperture and the shutter speed unless I switch back to auto focus. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way the camera is. Thank you Joe B. NJ
I’ve found that P950 have grinding sound when long zooming. Is it functional mechanic or due to lenses problem??? As your experience could you show me?
Thanks for this video, saved me some money. I have a question though, i have no clue about cameras and am only looking to invest to play around and have fun. Can i for example buy the P950 and attach one of them x10 close up filters ? fair enough the image would probably be less smooth the SpongeBob's face but. it could work right ?
Wow, this really put it in perspective and helping me to decide on which purchase I want to make. I'm going to be shooting concerts but also stars, moon and Sun, will I want the P1000 for that little bit more zoom vs the size/weight when I'm shooting shows? I'm torn and still on the fence. I'll be filming the stars moon and sun more, hmm. Stuck. Any further recommendations or suggestions? Thanks!
Thx. I agree. For the difference in weight, if nothing else, the difference in zoom isn’t worth it. Looking to buy one of the two and you just convinced me. 👍🏻
When I bought my P1000 I was comparing against the P900. I chose the P1000 for the external video input and the ability to shoot raw. The weight doesn't bother me. No regrets. Great to see that the P950 shoots raw.
Thanks for stopping by. I just watched your videos and subscribed! Do you mainly film handheld or on a tripod? With regards to the P1000 do you mean the HDMI output?
@@mrzoom6705 Sorry I meant external microphone input. Couldn't live without it. Ideally I would always shoot with a tripod but when I'm out on a hike and nature happens sometimes I don't have one handy. :)
I love zoom, but I'm surprised by a new situation comparing the P950 with a 90D + 250mm STM lens of course I don't have live range, but with the digital zoom I managed with the 90D to capture a bird in local msm, with superior quality. So I think why buy a P950 / P1000 if with a much better quality camera and an equivalent price I can get the same distance lens + digital zoom and higher quality, more color, sharpness and etc...?
The relative small difference what comes to max zoom level between P950 vs P1000 was kind of a surprise. Compare that to the difference of these two models, both price and physical size, P950 seems to be a better choice.
no man is not ok he lie on videos, he use only 1 camera, and talk about every other camera just by using more zoom, that is not ok, cameras have different quality even if they have same numbers, different processor and so one
On terrestrial targets MAYBE it doesn't matter if it's 3000 or 2000 mm. But check out those Astrophotos made with the P1000...! That's a huge difference! 🎉
while watching this video , i noticed the heat waves with the indulating/wavering/rippling effect across the entire image when zoomed in. I wondered if they(nikon, canon ,whoever) could process the image to reduce or take that out completely by taking the 'average' of each pixel and keeping it on screen for longer. There could be different levels and options for applying the effect . There could one algorithm for static pixels(parts of the image which dont seem to move much, such as the vegetation/rocky background) and a separate algorithm for the parts of the image which are moving(such as the people ) . it might also produce a slightly sharper image, which could then be digitally zoomed in on . But that digital zoom would possibly , once again produce a slightly clearer and sharper image then the regular zoom which had no rippling-reduction applied. These algorithms would be different to any handshake reduction or stabilization algorithms because the particular optical 'distortion' they are processing is different
This will only go away if the atmosphere is low moisture, and very clear, otherwise this is what all cameras will get with this magnification. There is no way to get ride of nature.
The only difference between p1000 and p950 is that on the p1000 video you can see the details: ears, eyes, face shape, hairstyle. That is, a person can be recognized. On the video from the p950, all this is not.
Thank you, great video. 🤗👍 Do you have a photograph of the sun (photo or video) with a filter and how does it appear? with a filter, and how does it appear?
@@mrzoom6705 Yes, you have to get some solar filter, great for use to observe sunspots or just the sun, wich I hear you have a lot of in Australia. I bought a Thousand Oaks Optical for my P1000 and I personally love the orange color it get, you can see when I try it in one of my videos if you want. I love ZOOM videos! Keep on make them!
Suppose Nikon has 3000mm focal length .. so how I will know binocular have 3000 mm range. Do u have any idea about binocular maximum range? If so plz suggest a good binocular to buy. I love zooming
Binoculars are different. If you want to reach same magnify as P1000, you need a binoculars with around 40-45X magnify. But forget about zoom binoculars. The best choice for you would be a giant binoculars with changeable eyepiece or a telescope with bino viewer.
Hi, good video, thanks. What causes all that wobbling on the images in your video, as if the moving image is submerged in water. Just curious. I once saw the same when someone zoomed into the moon last year with a Nikon P900, and it looked like the moon was covered in water as well. What's it called and how do you stop it from wobbling? Thanks. Love from Scotland, X.
I'm not a professional, and its been a long time. is you want to shot deep sky. P1000 is pretty good. it can shot Planets in the solar system, of course, the effect is not good。If you just want to shoot deep sky. maybe you should consider (freezing camera?)im not ture is that the name in english . like QHY533 。 almost same price. the professional for deep sky. There are color camera and black white camera, . The black white camera shooting details will be more clearer.
I have the Nikon B700 (1440mm max optical zoom) and when I saw comparisons between it and the P900 (2000mm max optical zoom), the extra zoom did not appear to be much better. The B700 can capture RAW images and record in 4K while the P900 can’t. Looking at this video, I think the B700 beats all of these others.
While I like the image quality more on the b700, I absolutely hated the fact that at close to Max zoom the frame im trying to capture/record would wobble like crazy
I have the B700 as well and I agree, great little camera. Has it's faults but on the other hand I have taken some nice photos and videos with it. Nikon gave it a short lifespan and seems to have replaced it with the P950. The 950 isn't so much a downgraded P1000 as it is a beefed up B700.
On TEERESTRIAL TARGETS, MAYBE it doesn't matter if it's 3000 or 2000 mm. But check out those Astrophotos made with the P1000...! That's a huge difference! ❤
Are you saying that both cameras are exactly the same except for the lens zooming capability? You are using a P1000. Would like to see comparisons of features. One may be better with low light than the other……and so on
hiciste la prueba con una misma cámara lo que es absurdo, debiste probar si la calidad de imagen varia ya que es una actualización en lo que se entiende.
Can someone please help me with issues I'm having tripod or handheld my p950 doesn't always auto focus, I've tried different modes and settings. What should I have the focal point on?
I find Nikon’s autofocus not as good as Canon esp in low light at long focal distances. The more light and more contrast the better. Is it happening in all condition eg all focal lengths, all lighting conditions?
its a misleading using focal length as a measure. Since sensor size have equal importance. 24 mp Apsc to a 45 mp 5 pixel CMOS have 8 times more zoom. Focal lenght are per definition the lenght of lense. Clearly it is not 3000 mm!!! Objective enlarging are not the same as the focal length. Since it also majorly have lesser light and a lesser quality than a true focal lenght lense. Since it only uses a fraction of the focal view. Although that is commonly used but it is actually wrong.
All filmed with the P1000? Why not compare to a real P950, it's newer so maybe the sensor is better, the zooming might be smoother, etc. This is 10% of a real comparison just looking at the zoom range...thats all.
Show 👏 !!! I find it strange that 83 x 125 in practice doesn't make the expected difference! Should Nikon be lying about this larger zoom on the P1000 !
Yeah it’s super confusing. The Nikon P1000 has a 24-3000mm lens. The way all manufacturers calculate it is 3000 / 24 = 125. Similarly the Nikon P950 has a 24-2000mm lens. So 2000 / 24 = 83. Hope I explained it OK.
@@mrzoom6705, I understand, the opinion of a layman, lol... is by the numbers I imagined, wow... 83 x 125... wow! Thanks for the videos, they helped me a lot!
@@rui7773 Yes I completely agree. You would expect a camera with a 20x zoom to give twice the magnification as a 10x zoom camera but unfortunately it’s not that simple.
@@mrzoom6705, That's right, but unfortunately it's not like that, lol... I've been with the 90D for a few days and I compared it to the P950 this week I'm going to buy the P1000 and decide which one to stay, it will probably be the 90D with Tamron 400mm + digital zoom surprised me in the photos (90D) in the final result compared to super zoom.
why has nikon made the p1000, when the p950 does the same job, the p1000 is heavy-er , twice the size , twice the cost , has 40x more zoom, but according to your video there is not much difference in zoom power.
like tbh, both have similar specs just zoom wise its different.. it would make sense for the margin of price if the nikon p1000 had a more dot Electronic viewfinder more than p950 or focal length wide is more than 24.. but ig zoom it is
Toys with a big zoom, though i except you can get good images but the af is shite and atmospheric interference stops any good images at the long end, crap sensors for anything in low light or that moves
@@ironman8257 Nope you can get far better quality 600mm lenses for the same price as a p900 or a little more and cheap bodies with far superior sensors but i guess if you don't know much about photography because your about 12 you'll think like you🙄
