It's true, I suck at video, but be sure to check my website. It's just photo galleries, no ads...lots and lots of sample photos, travel and more: www.thephotographyhobbyist.com/
I accidentally recorded this to the SD UHS II card (forgot to take the CFExpress out of the card reader after copying to PC) and it worked, no issues. 4K/60p, H.265 8 bit

18:55 I got waaaaay back there and the wireless mic was out of range, but the Z8 still had the AF box on my face in this tough lighting! Be sure to check my photo galleries. No ads, just hundreds of photos: www.thephotographyhobbyist.com/

I had the same z8 buy experience, went in to a small shop to pickup a Z 85 f1.8, and they had a z8 that was available. Check those small stores on release day. :) I hadn’t really planned to get it, but glad I did as it fixes all my minor gripes about the z7 II. Pretty much my perfect camera. Glad I had the funds from selling a lot of unnecessary gear I had acquired over the years.

Cool. Enjoy it! Same here. The Z8 has everything I could need and more and certainly fixes any of those Z7 deficiencies. I didn't have any issues with the Z7 other than I wanted to track a subject at a concert, but that wasn't very often. 99% of the time it was an awesome photo maker.

Thanks for the demo. Video is not something I have played a lot wth, but I am going to be doing more now for sure. I know you said you were on P mode, what AF mode were you using for that?

WOW SO COOL :) :) I was a bit sad when You sold Your Nikon kit. But I understand Your disappointment with the brand .. I hope that You will be super happy with the Z8 !!!!!!!! I have been with You for a long time,,, and I Really Enjoy Your galleries :) I have a hard time trusting people who talk about cameras that I can not see the photos they take... I have a Z5, Z6II, Z7, and 2 Z50, and about 10 Z lenses..... I have seen what You have done with Your cameras (Quite Good):) :) ThankYou !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks. I appreciate it! You have some nice ones too. And yes, lots of people talk crap on the internet and never show any photos (so you know if they're full of crap or not and someone you should even listen to), but I like to share many hundreds of photos because I enjoy it and I'm happy with the progress I've made over the years. This hobby is fun, but can be expensive. I need to cool it for a while. 😅 I didn't pay out of pocket for the Z8 though. I sold off some things I don't need anymore to pay for it.

I'm equally happy with my new Z8, even though it's only Day 1 as I received it this morning via FedEx. I tiny nit to pick, you mentioned a difference in weight between the Nikon Z 105mm f2.8 and the Nikon Z 24-120mm f4. I own both lenses and doublechecked the weight on the B&H website where both lenses are in the Spec window as 1.4 lb/ 630 grams. To me, although the weight is very similar, if not the same, they do seem to balance differently in the hand which might create the illusion of different weights. Enjoy your Z8!!

You might be right :) I didn't check the weight myself, just going off how they feel when I pick them up. Maybe my mind is just playing with me because of how big the 105mm looks compared to its weight :) Probably. Enjoy your new Z8 :)

@@ThePhotographyHobbyist I took those two lenses off the Z8 and Z7ii this morning just to feel them. The 105mm f2.8 is thicker, but about the same length as the 24-120mm. To me, that makes the 24-120mm seem more dense, even if the weight is the same. The most important thing is that they are both wonderful lenses. Yes, like you mentioned in your video, the 105m is slower to focus like other macro lenses, but I find that it's a wonderful landscape and portrait lens. I shot thousands of shots with it at a conformation dog show about 3 weeks ago, even lots and lots of movement shots. It has beautiful rendering. Have a great weekend!

@@johnforbes4795 that’s true, both of these are wonderful lenses and the 24 to 120 is one of the best quality zoom lenses I’ve used. Regarding the focus speed on the 105, if you’re not too far off from focus, it is quick to focus, it’s just not as quick as other lines to go from infinity to a close subject. For things like macro, portraits, and even moving subjects that are not too far out of focus. Initially, it works extremely well. Have a good weekend. I plan on going to a local museum tomorrow to get some sample photos with the Z8 and Monday will be a trip to a state park for more photos.

@@ThePhotographyHobbyist I think you're right on re: the pretty-quick-to-focus 105mm macro. We get spoiled by the lightening focus of the 24-120 and my Z 70-200mm f2.8. I'm jealous about your ventures this weekend. I'm at the computer processing thousands of dog show photos. :)
