Hi there just one doubt, Using f1.4 for group Photos is a good idea (all will be in focus)?.I usually use F2.8* +...😅..can you give me some details about it.
Always nice, fun videos. I find on the Z9 the”shutter sound” set to level 1 or 2 works well. Only you can hear it. 🙂 even then it’s very easy to shot way more photos than you think you are. The visual indicators work well but find they become easy to ignore. Looking forward to my Z8 to use with the Z9. Both fantastic cameras
i’ve noticed that my z62 autofocus is kinda crap when shooting past sunset conditions, no matter what ISO i use. but when it does catch focus, the image is beautiful and the AI noise reduction makes it even better
Thanks for sharing! I was getting legit anxiety during the hora and dancing photos because you were so far away; I'm always right in there with them so the photos feel like they are part of it. But all that matters is what your clients want, so I assume it works for you.
Man…. I really want the Z8 but I’m so heavy invested in Sony. I would need to sell my two a7iv, 85mm 1.4, 35mm 1.4, 20mm1.8, tamron 28-75 g2 to get the z8 with a 85 or 50mm 1.2 and maybe the 35mm1.8. Ugh I’m so tempted 😂
@TaylorJacksonPhoto can you tell me more about dancefloor settings, please? Did you use any on or off camera flash at all? 1/80 in natural light can’t be sharp and without motion trails right?
Great work Taylor! Absolutely master class on shooting wide open a ton! How do you pull off so many sharp photos at 1/100 and 1/125 shutter speeds during motion? Maybe I’ve just been burnt in the past by missing a few great moments from doing that, but you seem to knock it out of the park during the big moments when they are moving down the aisle!
IBIS. It's not the same with DSLR. It is true that it's almost impossible to get those sharp shots with a D850 for example at 1/100 *with a telephoto lens
@Taylor Jackson haha but this is just a review. After the review you will go back to Sony. So technically Steele watches your video because you shoot Sony.
I wonder if, because it’s a shutterless system, you could shoot raw images while also shooting video. You can with other Nikon cameras (make photos while simultaneously shooting video), but it’s a 16 x 9 jpg that is produced.
Do you think you'll be interested in the Nikon 35mm f/1.2 S when [if] it is released? Inferring that the image quality, size, weight, and price will be in the same general range as the 50mm f/1.2 and 85mm f/1.2.
Nah. I will probably save the weight and just stick with the 1.8. I'm still very on the fence with the 50 and 85 1.2 vs 1.8 for real wedding work. I love the look of it, but I'm also very happy with the 1.8 look
Haha because Tim lit it. And it doesn’t seem to have any problems in lower light. I’m sure someone with a lot of Z9 experience can answer the question better though
Definitely wish this was available a few years ago! I would have stuck with Nikon. I wish there were a similarly priced option with Sony. Hopefully the A9 III gets a slight megapixel bump to 33 or so.
“…Z62 autofocus performance chugs a little bit…” < That’s being charitable. I’ve been using Z62s for two years at events and the AF really sucks when the room is dark and/or the entertainment company is using a lot of intense colors in their lighthing, or the the light is just really orange/red due to dimmed incandescents. AF-S with the little green focus assist lamp just can’t keep up with people dancing. Just last night I was at a bat mitzvah lit in reds and blues and the Z62 AF system just choked on it even with my use of f1.8 primes. Fortunately I was second camera at that one. The lead shooter was using Canon R5s and had less of an issue focusing. Z62 AF sensitivity is rated at -6 to +19 EV, but the Z8 AF is rated for -7 to +19 EV. That one extra stop plus 3D tracking and wider selection of AF modes may make all the difference. Looks like I need to get at least one Z8.
Great video and beautiful images. Did they ever update that adobe issue you experienced? I wasn't aware of this. Have a shoot coming up, and it's starting to worry me.

Someone just gonna need to come out with a dual LCD screen body 🤷🏾♂️ *It's not like we don't already have dual screen smartphones that are 200x more powerful than what comes on a camera.
Hi, great video. As you also shoot with Sony, have you tried to mount some Sony onto the Z8 ? I have a bunch of Sony lenses, but this one tickle me, and I want to know if you can get an accurate autofocus with Sony lenses.
Taylor, thank you for sharing your video! If a person was to shoot a Color Checker Passport and use its generated profile in Lightroom, would it help? Obviously, Passport calibrations would have to be done for day, indoor, and evening hour shots. Thanks.

Taylor, you used to prefer the Nikon system to Canon and Sony from an IQ standpoint bc you felt that the sensor/lenses had a special or "artistic" quality. Do you still feel this way? How does the Z8 stack up against the A7RV for hybrid wedding work?
For hybrid work I don’t think it’s close. The A7R V cannot compete with the video on the Z8. People are really underestimating the advantages of a stacked sensor.

Do you feel like the Z8 is a big leap forward compared to a Z6ii or Canon R6? I currently shoot some semi-dated Nikon gear (adapted F-mount 1.4G lenses on various bodies). Considering moving to Canon for hybrid coverage.
I mainly shoot landscape and not many events, but have been requested by friends to do so. I noticed a lot of your images were shot at 1.2 - 2.8. The look great, but my question is how did you achieve focus on more than one subject in a picture at those aperture settings? is the trick to use say like 85mm and make sure you are back far enough? Currently have Z6ll, but preordered Z8.

The Z8 is objectively a better camera. Performance, build quality, ergonomics are all better on the Nikon. Sony has a camera with the same technology but still inferior ergonomics for $6.5k.
You said the camera was set to sports mode but it looked like you changed the “Vibration Reduction”…. Can you explain what you did or changed specifically
I paid that price for an A7R5 with no stacked sensor, 11 max fps, average shutter quality, much worse video spec,……so you get a lot with the Z8 for the price. But the R5 is sufficient for what I do. If it had been available 2 months ago,I would have probably bought the Z8. Incredible value. But too late Nikon ! As often……
