i was with nile ranger at protec (Barnet) academy in 2007-2008 season, literally did pre season and saw how talented he was, i remember sitting next to him in the training facilities at potters bar and told him how much of a baller he was and that i couldn't see him staying at barnet, few weeks later news break out at the academy that he was signed by Southampton! he was a real beast at 17.
He mentioned Pete, Pete Edward’s! Absolute scum of a coach, he stopped players from getting transfers to teams like Tottenham and westham from pro tec.
@@Musthecrazygooner yeah I was at pro tec 2004/2005, and Pete Edward's was a horrible bully ,treated me appallingly when I just needed a arm around shoulder, I had a trial for Watford and when I didn't get in he ignored me and then started to make rude comments about me to players horrible horrible bully tbh amazing how they are allowed around children tbh
@@theosworld941 I agree with you bro, most players did need an arm round the shoulder, we expected one to one management, all we got was shit attitude and coach’s that favoured certain players because of their ethnicity. I’m sorry you experienced that bro, he ruined a lot of youngsters, and the other losers that were side by side with him.
I'm not hearing any accountability. He said from his own mouth that he turned down 2 contracts because he thought he was worth more. My friend, you have to earn your success.
u must be deaf, he said multiple times they gave him a lot of chances, then he said he probably had ADHD that he shouldve gotten tested for, if you dont like him thats fine but ya comment is BS
That's a bit like saying the so-called indigenous British people with no education are entitled to earn more than the low skills jobs are paying, and you hear a lot of that. We don't want immigrants of colour, but we are too good to do the work they do. If it's good enough for the so-called indigenous British, it's good enough for Mr Ranger.
I would like to see a 3 man sit down with players like , Nile Ranger , Ravel morrison and another similar young talent that never hit full potential due to their issues on the rise. Let them all dialogue about similar hurdles and vices and self reflection
Niles was a true baller man. It’s crazy to imagine being in his shoes, life like a movie😅 very humble🙏🏻 you can tell he truly changed and strives to help others prevent committing the same errors.
Comes across like an honest soul. The lacknif structure, boundaries and discipline, as he alluded to, when he was a kid was the foundation of all his issues.
GRATITUDE AND CONTEXT NEEDED HERE. He has still done better for himself than he would if he followed his peers. He still did better in life than if he stayed on the roads selling food. Well done brother! Still here to tell the tale! And he tells a good story too!!!
There is soo much talent that never gets a chance to prove themselves and make it. He made it to the top and then failed to stay at the top. That’s a failure. If it was ability that made him fail I’d keep my mouth shut. This dude was in the police station more than the starting 11.
Initially says he regrets how his career went followed by absolutely no self-reflection for an hour and a half. Apparently, "absolutely 'smashed' it" everywhere. Scored 28 goals in 170 games - last seen at Boreham Wood. Couldn't even wake up on time. Waster and delusional.
Massive case of adhd, if he could have been able to understand what adhd is and how it effected him a long time ago things may have been a little different adhd isn’t an excuse and if you don’t have it your never understand it but if you do have it and you do some real research you start to see where it stops you from excelling in places and ways that you very much have the ability to Nile’s was a wonderkid I told him so in the past on instagram as I see a lot of myself in him and were similar age he responded he’s a real guy he’s not a mouse like most men who manage to crack on and become things but behind closed doors are mice.
Yup you’re 100% correct. His constant lateness, his lack of impulse control which kept having him do stupid stuff without a care or being able to stop, his fidgeting, his lack of drive, his bad memory, his lack of being able to explain in detail, are all symptoms. People don’t really understand it so they just deem the person as lazy but it’s really a lack of dopamine entirely or a lack of dopamine in the brain firing properly. He really needs to get diagnosed by a medical professional & get medicated. It would help him tremendously in his life.
@@rickywatters4439 by the time you get to your 30s they don’t tend to advise medication as much because by the time you get to your 30s you should have probably learned to live with it and manage it but I agree!
When you have ADHD it doesn't make you Robb people or beat up women. He said he wasn't a bully in school but robbed people with his friends with a knife many times. When there is no accountability because you are talented you never learn. Jon Jones Conor Mcgregor Johnny Manziel Ryan Giggs
@@kizmutyaba4965 didn’t say adhd makes you rob people, I look past what people do as children and infact I’m from a mental place where I look past any mistakes somebody makes of by the age of 30 they realise they did things that weren’t right I’m a mad man I could have done mad man things but I had many make role models in my life that only had to look at me in a way when I made a mistake that stopped me from well and truly doing many a thing I was capable of doing that was wrong it ain’t Nile’s fault he didn’t have that so get off your high horse and wind your neck in we both know you wouldn’t like it if somebody wound it in for you if they haven’t already!!!!
People don’t realise Nile is actually a cool person, never walked around the academy thinking he was bad or better than anyone else, all this media stuff was always going to happen. I played ball with his cousin the triplets, all talented, and good boys, life unfortunately can get in the way.
I he just went around toon thinking he was king pulling up to young lasses in random streets because he had a rangy I could go on but RU-vid delete comment everyone who was on job in toon around that time knows the crack
he has said at school he used to steal his classmates phones from there coats then sell them... he'd also go around all day with his mates in london robbing people.
go on my bro 🙌 you still made it in life you’ve played premier league football don’t ever let no man get you down my bro 👊 man like you inspire me i’m adhd mad and if you get it you get 🙏
I haven't heard any accountability for anything that he did. The faith he failed to repay and the opportunities he didn't make the most of. Such a shame.
You haven’t heard ? Or you havnt watch ? Ppl just post comments just to get likes..Ainsley Maitland-Niles literally open an (Niles Academy) bcos he regrets his life choices and doesn’t want other talented youths to make the same mistake
Nile Ranger, where...Nile Ranger how.....always an enigma... every fan loved him, beast of a striker, remember him giving certain defenders nightmares before games (if you know you know..)... pleasure to have met him, hopefully one of these League 2 and high powering National League teams can give him shooting boots to push them up....Nile you never lose..LETS GO!!!
Always remember to keep working hard. Never think you are 'too big' Let this be a lesson to all of us who are pursuing greatness in our personal lives. Humble yourself.
This guy.... Unbelievable Footballer.... Something he should've done a long time ago..... Gone abroad.... If he does that I think he could have a second win... Baller... God willing I hope he gets there, as it would be a shame for him to waste the God given talent he has.... Go abroad son 💯
You're concentrating on the wrong thing, listen to what he is actually saying and talking about, it might be a little distracting but he has a very interesting story to tell
Scored 2 goals in over 50 games as striker for newcastle! Was never good enough and now not wanted by any professional or non league club! But still goes on like he had a good career
Nice to see this guy seems somewhat grounded and understands what he’s done wrong etc. I’ve seen a few interviews and podcasts with Nile over the years and for the most part he’s always seemed like he was still cocky, arrogant and up his own arse. This one’s changed my mind completely, looks like he’s grown up and understands and takes responsibility for what went wrong. Gained my respect 🫡
Whats messed up is that he still doesnt understand himself. Not sure how he can help others, when he doesnt know himself. Hoping he can find inner peace and understand why he was like he was and is.
At 8.38 I muted to comment. I previously watched a commentary of his career. Every other word is like. He had a promising future and threw it all away. I felt his grand/mother pain to the core. I prayed that he has learnt from his pass and how self destructive he was. He has no one to blame other than himself. I will not continue to watch because I'm spitting 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥. I wish him and his family peace of mind.
Nothing worse in life than should've been would've been. When opportunities present themselves to change your life for the better. I guess application hardwork will always exceed those who depend on talent alone.
Fair play to him for telling his story and being honest, commend him for that. When minors are coming from nothing and being given life changing sums of money, maybe the clubs need to do more to support player transition. It’s too easy for keyboard warriors to say that they would do differently. @rising ballers, get ravel Morrison on for his perspectives.
Swear bro you are spot on People keep saying it’s discipline but this guy shows a strong pattern of self sabotaging behaviours seems deeper than discipline if you ask me Needs to do some deep introspection or maybe see a shrink Clearly comes from a dysfunctional background
growing up and remember nile being mentioned has the potential to be englands next future talent coming through when at Newcastle, great interview and fair pkay to nile for being open and honest about everything, wish him the best of luck with his future plans and academy, if i where nile, why not reach out to all his previous club and ask about being like a councilor/mentor when kuds are throwing their careers away, could step in and advise and help the bhoys, clubs definitely need this service and no better than someone been there done that, instead of soneone who hasnt👏⚽️
Everyone is quick to talk about what he didn’t succeed but let’s appreciate what he did 🙌🏽 17 years old playing for Newcastle, looking after his family, not selling drugs like his peers. Although, his career didn’t pan out he achieved what 99.9% of men dream of in their life and achieved it! Played in the premier league
Ranger was just a mess. I also think he overestimates his ability. He was a physical forward that was more chaotic than anything. I thought he'd learn from his mistakes when he got released from Newcastle, but he just seemed even more unprofessional.
He could honestly do quite well in the 5th division or the level below. But he keeps holding out for a top 2 division club. The last time he played at that level was in the 2nd division for Blackpool 10 years ago. And even then he seemed to be average at best. Even if he thinks he could do better. He should at least sign a contract with a 5th or 6th tier club in order to show people he has talent. He is not proving anything to anyone just sat at home feeling sorry for himself.
Nothing but a clown. He got offerd a last chance at Oxford after all he had done on 52k a year basic to kick start his career and said NO tells you all you need to know about the fella he is just a bottler who thinks he is way better than he was
Remember him coming on v Arsenal when we were 4-0 down at half time. Changed the game. Absolute handful and wish he'd knuckled down and stayed. Was miles better than Andy Carroll.
I worry his English is too hard to understand to get into TV that will be broadcast worldwide. As a non-native speaker I find Micah is easy to understand. Thierry Henry and Carragher too. But I really struggle to understand half the words Nile says in the interview. 'I'm Nai Rain-jah I ma fuh-bo-rur' Kind of weird because in his older interviews, he spoke quite clearly.
Jah Jah bro sorry to hear how it went but just know no one is perfect ok. Just know that the creator is real and you’re still here so just continue to be strong if you meant to be a millionaire you will. Hopefully you’re right now. Stay strong ok
Real talk about 10 years ago he was a handful in league 1. He should have been a championship or league 1 level player for 10-15 years. Instead he messed up due to lack of discipline. He had good stints at Swindon and Southend that fell away. A waste of talent.
Nile ranger is currently a big scammer. He scams women on social media and uses the money from them to live his life🙄 pathetic and sad that he could have and should have been so much more then the man he actually is.
This geezer again....😮 o dear. I will understand that he is moving in the right direction when he does not appear to be trying to be the 'bad man' he has always wanted to be seen as. For now he is exactly the same as he was 10 years ago doing this type of interview.
10 years ago he genuinely spoke quite well though. Now he puts on some really fake sounding accent which (for me as a non-native speaker) is so hard to understand.
I'm from Enfield and saw my guy chilling one night outside my mums yard, we had drug dealers living next to us setting up a trap house, to be honest, everytime time I said hi to nile and his mates they were sound back to me, dudes just minded his business, driving his flash Mercedes around Tho always gonna attract evil eyes, haringey times if anyone knows the story I’ll leave that one for you to tell
Newcastle still owed him 3 years on his contract, they with held it until he was older im sure i read 30, was close to a few million quid, that with interest be a nice nest egg for him, in away newcastle still looked after him
@@REALCrazyCritic read up on it instead of commenting, you one of those prople that calls things shit but hasnt got a valid explantion as to why its shit? With thee amount of emojis you have left in the comment you can tell you are thick
Great podcast, honestly. But watching it makes me so frustrated hearing about the opportunities he wasted. I can only imagine how he feels himself, but he's not a bad guy, and I wish him all the best in life. He's still young.
Always support Nile Ranger but i feel like hes told his story too many times in these interviews about how he kept messing up his football opportunities growing up 🤷🏾♂️ (havent watched it yet) but imma still watch hopefully it wont be the same stories and some different conversations & im suree he wears this same NY hat in every interview over the past 5yrs 😅
Yeah but he never scored many goals as a striker. I vaguely remember him at Newcastle, he was like a poor man's Asprilla. The guy can't even hit the net in lower divisions or keep his head on straight. If you are generally a great baller, people in higher divisions will sit up and notice,.you come bottom of the pile.if you cant hold your head at Boreham Wood and fail to hit the net past the dog shit.
He understands his issues but he just cant help himself. Needed someone to help him properly back then. Didnt seem to have that someone in his life at the time. Interesting conversation.
