This entire EP sounds like it could have been from the Fragile era. It's heavy, it's atmospheric, the lyrics are darker than anything Trent's written since then; all I can say is it's a grand return for Reznor (with the help of Atticus Ross, of course). I eagerly await more Nine Inch Nails in 2017.

due to my own experiences, i've always percieved this song as being about a victim finally able to reclaim themselves and recognize that their abuser isn't in control anymore. it just has this energy of empowerment found in the wake of destruction.

Has a bit of an early Swans/Godflesh vibe to it ... not bad at all!

I've been listening to this song on repeat for an hour now. Every now and then a tear will sneak down my cheek. I grew up on NIN. My mother had a huge crush on Trent. She'd play other bands too like Korn, Rob Zombie, Orgy, Tool, and of course Marilyn Manson. Sometimes I'd come home to her having a few drinks binge watching tour DVDs on usually NIN Korn and Marilyn Manson. Some of the best memories I've ever had with her. When I was 17 I found her face down with a can of air duster. I'll never be the same but music really calms me. It takes me back to the good days. Thank you Mr. Reznor.

one can love the experimental nature of this album, I have been a NIN fan since the early 90s when I was still a kid and throughout the album you can notice familiar melodies and tones from previous eras. This song is very uplifting and empowering, especially to those beat up and kicked down this year. Awesome.

Everyone is talking about how it sounds like every other album, all I know is that this sounds fucking INCREDIBLE! We'll done Trent and Atticus!

When I’m driving and have my attention squarely focused on the road ahead of me and my mind goes blank and this is playing in the background , I then start to remember and have flash in my mind the humiliation, shame, and failures that I thought I’d never recover from, only to break through the surface and breathe in slow motion and break free from all of it and to use all that negativity as motivation to keep me moving forward positive. This song catches the atmosphere and mindset of losing touch and falling into the abyss only to see a pinhole of light far in the distance, enough light to keep getting up everytime I fall knowing it doesn’t have to be this way forever.

This sounds like a wicked-gnarly culmination of The Day The World Went Away and the Call of Duty Black Ops 2 theme... such deep-ass guttural low tones in the guitar!! I want to sprint through brick walls while cranking this master-work. Thank you Trent & Crew for another solid piece to register to my lifelong archive of memorable songs! This isn't so much a track on a record as it is an EXPERIENCE on a vessel into Trent's complex intricate creatively-driven mind. Holy hell, NIN FOR LIFE.

Goosebumping

The song was a little intimidating initially, but once the bridge and chorus both kicked in, it really started to shine. After a few listens, I'm in love with it. Say what you will about the song, but Trent is still committed to trying new things, and isn't afraid to challenge the listener. Personally, I'm grateful for that. I hope he never stops.

Trent is back...fear, self-loathing, self-doubt...you never really beat that stuff it's embedded in you for life....you just learn to control it better. These lyrics are fantastic.
