Some people say his music makes people feel more sadness than they ordinarilly would (Ignorance). What those people dont understand is that trent gives us a voice to our thoughts that help us understand our sadness, and in the understanding, gives us a way to not feel alone in our most desolet moments when we feel total seperation from everyone, and everyting. By doin so his music has kept me strong enough to pull myself up at my most lost times. Thanks trent reznor and nin for the decades of strenth you gave to me.

Couldn't agree more. Today, on The Downward Spiral's 25th birthday, I found a copy of AATCHB with Still in a record store and I'd been hunting down a copy for almost ten years. I don't think it has anything to do with sadness. As this art is done out of passion which is always positive. It's sending a clear message that we are controlled. It's helping us awaken and teaching us valuable lessons.

I never understood this video or the album cover before, but now I do. Those meters that are lit up are measuring his emotions, and the negative ones (like anxiety) have a high rating while the more positive ones (like appreciation and presence) are low. This machine is a mechanical way of personifying how it feels for him when he's depressed. Damn. I really need to give this EP another listen, I think its one that grows deeper and deeper with every listen.

From a Fangoria interview, Trent Reznor talks about how he and the band came to perform in the roadhouse scene from that episode (as The Nine Inch Nails): "Yeah, when we got the call about Twin Peaks, the question was just, "Would you like to participate in Twin Peaks: The Return?" and the answer was, "Yes, of course!" and then he said, "I would like the band to be playing a show at the Roadhouse." No further information. We didn't have a lot of time; it was maybe two, three weeks until [filming]. We were working on a piece that - and I haven't told anyone this - ultimately became the music for "This Isn't The Place," incorrectly thinking that he'd want something that was more … y'know, I was picturing Julee Cruise, something that was a bit more broken down or open and David Lynch-ish. But when we turned the track in, he was comfortable enough with me to write or call me back and say, "Y'know, I'm looking for something a little less … this just isn't what I want. I want something that feels menacing and unpleasant." I think probably most of the people that were called [about performing in the Roadhouse] had the same thought we did, to go a little more Badalamenti-ish, something you'd expect to be playing in there. So in about another day, we quickly turned around "She's Gone Away" and immediately got the response of, "Thank you, yes, this is exactly what I was looking for! Appreciate the extra effort!"

Yeah that’s why I don’t like it. Much prefer the angry, harsh industrial ballads like the downward spiral or the fragile. But to each his own.

put on headphones, pour your drink of choice, and think about your disposition when you fell in love with NIN while listening to this. it's there. it's the fragile, it's trent, your experience hasn't changed you just have to recollect it.

I'm super happy to see one of my first favorite groups from my youth (over 30 years ago) is still producing phenomenal synth pop music. I had almost forgot about NIN and now they release this gem that has grabbed me and brought me back in !!!

See... this is where you can see how far along Trent has come in his career. This is a song worthy of a legendary sound architect, and a fitting tribute to David Bowie. RIP I'm not trying to be a fanboy but I absolutely fucking am one. NIN and Trent are fucking godlike in the industry of sound architecture. Change my mind.

I thought his singing here sounds pretty James Blakey as well..a lot of the other parts of the song too. Like how the drums have that dark soul feel and how the synth bass glides around..even how those detuned chords fade in and out. NINs like sexy machine-animal hybrid or something.

Listened to the perfect drug song when I was 7-8 years old ,didn't know how that would change my life 34 years later, got to love the style of NIN , from the most hardcore to the most melodic instrumentals. No other band of merry music makers can compare. Brilliant. Salute.
