I can get secondhand 250 ninja for 2k... second hand 300 ninja costs around 4-5k here.. I'm not paying double amount of money for that minimal of benefit.
Right I paid 1100 for my 250..its a 2007 and under 3k miles, and nothing wrong with it....ninja 300 are like 4k....fuck that, my ninja 250 pulls and I can ride, parts are mad cheap....I'd rather the 250 for the money.....I would rather be on a 300 but for the money a 250 is no different, a 250 would keep right up with that 300
Great little bike, very easy to ride and looks a beauty. In my option, the ninja 300 isn't slow. it's just slow compared to other sports bikes. Which isn't necessarily a bad thing, i've seen people ride 300's harder than 600cc and 1000cc around twisties, only getting beaten in straights. you don't need a big bike to be a good rider
Why do people care so much about "beating" each other though, do they have some insecurities? That they nerd to overcompensate with a something like a sport bike, to reaffirm their own existence? So what other bikes are faster?
The 300 is nice. BUT I can find 250s in my price range all day long. I can find a few 500s that need a helicoil on the plug in my price range. I can find one or two 650s, a whole damn truck full of katanas, and even a 6r, a fireblade and even a ninja 1000 in my price range. Not a damn single 300 in my price range though. People are pretty proud of em.
If people take the 300 for what it is, I think you can learn so much from the bike. Its a blast to ride and you can make full use of its power while riding it. Own mine for almost 2years now with 16k on the odometer and I still love this bike!
i myself prefer small displacement bikes...first it remember me vintage bikes, secondly i like to 'work' to get my power.i love to play with the damn thing
Holy shit. I was just watching, not really paying attention to the background. The took a turn and realized you're riding in the same town I live in. Kinda crazy. Getting a 300 soon. We should meet up
I have owned two 250's. one "92 and one 2009. I loved both but the 92 was better because it had fewer emission and rev controllers. The new 300 has ABS and a "slipper" clutch. Add that to the fuel injection and I hope I can buy a good used one before I get too age impaired to ride it.
I got my ninja 250 for 1,100, 2007 and 2500 miles....yes good deal...nothing wrong with it....I put on new tires, break pads front and rear, oil filter, bar ends....love my bike
Nice video, man. I have been riding Harley's for the past 10 years. However, I've always had the desire for a Honda CBR. By chance, I inherited a 2007 Kawasaki Ninja 250 a few weeks ago, with 1, 130 miles. The bike had not run in over 4 1/2 years. I bought a new battery, spark plugs, carb. rebuild kit, and changed all the fluids. The bike is amazingly powerful; I was highly impressed. I am going to sell my Harley and this 250 for a bigger sports bike. A friend of mine has the K. 300, and like you said, I mistakenly took it for a bigger bike. Anyhow, ride safe and take care...
I just got a 300. It is simply amazing. Definitely recommend this bike to anyone looking for a good starter bike. I can't say enough about the looks, I can't even look at a 250 anymore!
Thanks for the spec information. I just bought 98' ex250. My plan is to clean it up after I got the learning locked down. Shave off as much weight as possible and get it running like new as possible. Stay safe 👍
You're intro covered exactly what I was thinking! I'm buying my first bike and really appreciate your very objective outline of this bike compared with the 250. Thanks, you're a star.
Good vid. I have a 300 and I agree with everything you said. All in all though, if I were to do it over again, I'd get something bigger; even as a starter bike.
I also have an R3, but I would be just as happy on the new 300. Any new bike needs modification to something, so the stocks are good starting points. The substitution of the Z-rated top performing tires are always welcomed. I did raise the read to a 150/60 to have a bit more rubber under me, and the handling improved for the total change. The mileage is affected slightly because the diameter is slightly smaller (65 down to 63.2), but it's hardly noticeable. Like I said, either bike is a good choice for riders who want good looking, reasonable performing bikes. I like mine because I can finally put both feet on the ground.
Yoo man how are you?! I got a question: i cant find which bike is faster the ninja 300 or the Yamaha r3?! Do you know ? And sorry for bad English haha im from The netherlands...
I have a 250 and it's great for what it is, but I've changed out the gearing a little to increase the range of the gearing and drop the rpm's to make it use-able on the highway. My biggest complaints about the 250 is that the stalks tend to work their way loose and the seat is only good for short trips.
I don't know if you are still on youtube but can you be specific on what you changed on the gearing? I hate 1st gear on the 250s, would love to change it.
Hmm well i think i can afford the 300, its just id probably have to wait an extra month or two after i finish paying my student loans lol. Yeah its just that I would be riding locally or on the highway from NY to NJ so i was a little worried about having the 250
Accel345 If you're a taller rider you could consider the ninja 650 or cbr 500. They're both beginner friendly but will be much better on the highway. The ninja 300 can handle the highway fine, but the ninja 650 would be much better.
I went from a 250 to a zx6r then a zx10r. Any body will be fine starting out on any bike they wish just be respectful of the throttle. Rode my buddies 300 and that bike is awesome. Wouldnt mind owning one. Very easy to ride
Tsachi E Whichever one you like best. Personally I'd grab white since it looks cleaner in my opinion. I'd stray away from black because of lack of visibility and also black always looks dirty and shows every little scratch.
This is what I currently use for motovlogging. Go Pro Hero 4 Black: amzn.to/1XbGQXL Mic: amzn.to/22vFAhg Adapter: - amzn.to/1P0Rkkm The case is for a GPS, it's waterproof which is why I had it.
I rode a ninja 250r bought it for €3800. Sold it for €3800 after 2 years of riding with 15.000km, My sisters boyfriend bought a new 300 for €6000. and after two years it was only worth €4000. Yeah the 300 is much better, but you have to be careful of the price dops! New bikes drop more in value then second owner bikes :D Nice vid man Keep it up :D
LITTLEbig Riders Thanks! Yeah, I'm selling my 300 now and I'm probably going to take a hit. I didn't buy it new though so i'll probably only loose about 400 dollars. I firmly believe no new rider should ever buy new, unless they're rich lol
+HEROrr Just out of curiosity, where did you buy your used Ninja 300 from? Did you buy it off someone on Craigslist, or does the dealership also sell used bikes?
Hey man great video and good points. One thing though is that you said fuel injection is so much better than carbs. I would disagree, not that carbs are better but that both systems are equal in my mind. Carburetors are not any worse. If you set up the carbs right then there isn't really any hassle with them. They work just as well, the only thing is choke when starting. So I guess my question is why would fuel injection be better. All one has to do is understand the carbs and clean if ever needed (which they don't need adjustment). The other points are all very good and I'd choose the 300. Just an observation.
I got one question. I am really into motorcycle but never had one. I wanna get a used one for beginners. What should I look for in a used bike? How to tell it's going to be reliable?
I mean that whole question is a video in itself. My recommendation would be to have it looked at by a mechanic if you can bring one or meet the seller there. Assuming this is private party. If that isn't an option for you then you should study this sheet right here and maybe even print it out for your records www.clarity.net/adam/buying-bike.html Reliability I would say try to stick with a Japanese bike, one that is completely stock, ask the owner if he did the oil changes, make sure you look at the chain, if chain was neglected then chances are everything else was too. Make sure you subscribe to my channel because in a few weeks I'm going to release a lot more videos on buying your first motorcycle.
I want a ninja 300. Sounds like the perfect bike. Looks sporty, but totally manageable and responsible power. 250 seems almost maxed and red in the face on the highway, this probably wouldn't struggle as much.
I have a 06 ninja 250r (6 speed) and I love it. Gave 700$ on it and have had it for years. Mine has the old school body design. It is plenty fast and peppy and it is fuel injected. The 300 seems nice too. Maybe one day I'll get one but with almost 30k miles on my current ride and no issues so far I'm quite content... Edit. I'm pretty sure it's fuel injected. I'll look in the morning and double check
I thought I would leave a post and see if I can get some response I'm looking at getting my first bike I've been looking at 250 ninjas a lot but also 300 really like to get an honest opinion on which bike I should get and what would be great to learn off of a 300 or 250
I ran the 250r or a month and Canadian winter hit. During the winter I am getting the opportunity to upgrade to the 2014 300, I’m so happy now, super excited! Lmao anyone want to buy a ninja 250???
Good points if you're considering keeping the 300 bike for a few years, otherwise spend $1000 on an older 250 with low miles that was not badly dropped and make your newbie mistakes on it, then sell it with very little depreciation. But that's just bean counting. It's much harder to argue against a new 300 with ABS considering the safety aspects of it.
Major Gamer really? wow I guess whoever sold my 250 to me put a 1000cc engine in it. because I go on the highway and I'm doing 120 easily on my 250, and passing cars at more speed than that also.
I'm 5'4 about 160 what would you recommend for me in scared of I get the 250 I'll be getting smoked by cars and if my feet will be able to touch the ground on the 300.
I never rode the 250. 1st bike I got to ride was a ninja 600r. It sold me .. my 1st bike the ninja 300. 2015. I love it. I was close to getting the 250.
Okie Rider lol close enough. The 600's are not even 600 cc's they are really 599cc and the liter bikes are only 998cc We just round up to make life easier.
"Ninja 250 top speed: 95mph" My 2009 has seen a top speed a tad over 105 with a 15 tooth front sprocket. Also i went for a slip and slide with it going like 40 something around a wet bend and the turn signals just flexed back (like a spring) and didn't break off. Besides that, I 100% agree with this video. Get an ABS 300 Ninja to start off. I'm buying a new 300 just for the ABS and fuel Injection. Playing with the choke of a cold carb'd bike sucks. If you can't afford the 300 ABS, save up or you'll regret it later.
+Red Brown My ninja 250 was struggling hard to hit 95. There's many factors that can attribute to it though. rider weight, wind speed and direction, slop of ground, etc. But the general consensus is that the ninja 300 is about 10 mph faster on the top end than the 250.
Ive owend a decent amount of bikes but I still love my 98 250 the most lol but i do love the channel and videos again not hate js lol but yeah a stripped 250 always looks good in my opinion again just my opinion
I my country I can get used both 250 costs around 1700€ (2009-2011 models) 300 costs 3500-4500€ Which one should I get? Is the 300 worth the extra money? By the way whichever I buy I will upgrade it in 2-3 years with an r6
I've got a Ninja 250r 2010, 33hp, fuel injected, she's reaching 200Km/h = 125Mp/... She cost 3 000 Eur. the Handling is perfect, got no issues with it, spent an extra 100 Eur and I made it look great to me so.... Still prefer the 250cc.... I had a ninja 300cc to but still....
Here's the reasons the 300 is better 1) the 300 looks better 2) the 300 isn't carbed, while this isn't bad, fuel injection is just so much more to the point 3) the 300 is faster 4) the 300 has a slipper clutch 5) the price range is just about generally the same but you can get a better bike, being the 300
i got my 2008 ninja 250 with only 500 miles for 2300 all it needed a fork seal an awesome bike regardless of the haters out there. A 250 in a city like los angeles (where im from) is more than enough to get thru traffic safe. If you live in the country then yeah your going to want more motor due to the roads being less congested compared to city roads. In conclusion if your just looking for a everday bike that gets you from point a to point b without any fear of crashing a 250 ninja is the right one for the job not to mention if you crash it wont hurt as much as spending another 1000 for a 300 which literally is the same thing.
Yeah being on my 250 in the freeway does suck considering all the other bikes go past me but at the end of the day im satisfied knowing im still getting great mpg and still great timing to destinations even though im not going 10-20mph faster than the rest.
Pointless to upgrade from 250r to 300, they're nearly the same motorcycle, it will be waste of money, imo your son should upgrade to something like a 600cc in the future once he's very comfortable and confident
tell him to go 600cc :) you wrote the comment 1 year ago so he can most likely drive that 250r realy good. the 50cc diffarance is not worth it (btw if you did not know the 600cc ones allso catagorise as A2 mcs if the power has ben lowed)
here in belgium we get ABS (its non optional) and the testriders here have tested the smal sportbikes segment, and it is 2km/h faster then the R3, is forgiving enough to set good times on a tight track where ass the RC390 punishes you with timeloss, has more enough power and a sharming top end rush, its ass good quality build like the cbr300, has the most range. so i am gad to have my 300, i just changed to battlax s20 evo's and put the rear preload up to5 and it has become a faster and more nimble bike with under 300 bucks :)
I love to get me above 250cc but i have to pay for yearly inspections and higher insurance costs. 250cc here is the highest displacement bike without the yearly inspection
Maybe, I've never seen an r3 in person before. But one thing to note is that the r3 seat height is nearly 3 inches shorter than the r6 which will make it feel way smaller in that regard.
I just stumbled upon your channel. How long did you keep the Ninja 300 before you sold it? Do you have a video on this, just in case you didn't want to re-explain? Thx! :)
Aww i bet. It looks like a good one. I like the 2016 ninja 300 abs krt...i'm not about speed for it as I already have a speed issue lol. I'm looking for a commuter really. Would you say it's the right bike for that?
+Rucci when I started riding last year, I was paying $83.00 for a brand new ninja 300. I have GEICO. My second year, I'm only paying $63.00 for full coverage.
I'd say buying a NEW Ninja 300 is worth it over a NEW 250. But neither are worth $5000 or even $3000, it's a bike you learn on and then sell to get a bigger bike. I bought a 2007 250r for $900 needing rear brake pads, a new chain and a windscreen. It ran and drove and was in good condition actually. I fixed it up for like $100 and now I can sell it and MAKE money on it. Is it as cool looking as a new 300? No, but it looks good and it taught me to ride, and literally got me free money to put towards a Ninja 500.
+Logan Jenkins Dunno man, ninja 300 is such a great city bike, i was riding 600 for a couple of years and if you live in a crowded city like i do with constant trafic jams, you really dont have any spot to enjoy 600 at its full potenial, unless you plan to do something stupid and reckless ofc, im satifsied with 300, such a nice budget city bike, i reccomend it to evryone! Driving 600 on packed streets feels like a tiger in a zoo.
I live in Phx, AZ so I know the struggle. My 250 is great around town and on the highway but it's a little weak for the highway IMO. It has to sit at 8000-9000 rpm so you can have passing power. I don't want a 120hp bike but I plan on selling this and getting a Ninja 500 very soon. It's like 22 more hp and a bunch more torque since it has twice the displacement. You can cruise at a low rpm on the freeway since it has a lot more torque and save the engine. I feel awful keeping an engine at 9000 rpm for 40 minutes. Even for 3 minutes...
Logan Jenkins True, but best thing to know something is to try it yourself! Then you can compare it with your own expirience, Good luck and stay safe! :)
ITZAK14 I'm going to make this real easy for you. the rc390 is a bike that was made to be fast around a track, it isn't as good as the other 2 for the streets. If this is your first bike then i'd get a USED ninja 300. You can find one for about $3,500 on craigslist and that's much better than a $5000 + dealer fees (so like 5,300) for an R3. Ninja 300 also gets better gas mileage and can hold more fuel as well. Something to think about.
***** i have had 50cc and using a 125cc atm since thats what my license allows. I think im gonna go with the r3 when i get my a2 license if the price has gone down
ITZAK14 That's a good choice. Just something to keep in mind the Ninja 300 won the beginner bike of 2015. They said the R3's suspension wasn't as good as the N300s. Also you get 70mpg on the ninja 300 and only like 56mpg and has less fuel in general. Can't go wrong either way. Good luck!
Im new to bikes and wanted to get the r3 asoon as i get my A2 license but after tons of researching and youtube vids, not to mention r3's are practically new and parts would be expensive for it, the ninja 300 looks like the best option
Franky4Fingers I would highly recommend finding a used ninja 300. I see them on craigslist for as low as $3,500. Buy one, ride it for a year and then sell it for what you paid :)
Because 2,000 dollars is a lot of money that can go toward your next bike purchase when you get tired of your learner bike? Not to mention, time spent fixing your shitty used 250 is time spent learning how motorcycle maintenance works and will help you in the future.
i got a 2009 ninja 250r 5k miles upgraded exhaust, seat, levers, air filter, frame sliders, led lights for 1800 about 4 months ago . 3k is a bullshit price
I've a 250 as it was dirt cheap to buy, and I don't need the power for commuting. A 300 is overkill. I have a mate with cancer and I bought it to follow him on his Honda 250. I can't do that on my Aprilia RSV 1000.
Why get a new 300 when you can get a new r3 which is more ccs and the SAME price brand new ? Just saying doesn't make sense plus the r3 is a little faster .
