My guess is that it starts at 9m:59s and then displays only the minute mark. So when 2.01 turns to 1.59 it displays 1 and then goes to 59s at the end. Both are a bad look
That's how my stove timer works too. Took me a a bit to figure out that setting it to 10 minutes and it dropping immediately to 9 was actually 9:59, not 9:00
The timer changes right away because it is counting down the time. So if you set it for 5 minutes and it changes to 4, it really has 4 mins 59 seconds, so when it changes to 3, it's really 3 mins 59 sec, etc. and why you see it count down the seconds after it gets under a minute. The timer on my current oven is the same way and took some getting my used to.
That's how my oven is as well. It took me one time to understand what it was doing. I have no idea how this guy sometimes has no way of understanding things.
I had a Nuwave. Used it once to bake a chicken. It came out pale looking but cooked. However, it was such a chore to clean. Never used it again. What a waste of $300.00.
You will probably blow a fuse, trying to use a 1500 watt device, even with a Converter. It will also likely put a huge dent in your cars Battery Charge.
I own one and you couldn't pry it away from me. I like cooking in glass first of all, and, the fact it's not a giant appliance on my countertop is a plus. It works basically like my old American Harvest Jet Stream Oven that was discontinued, so I was thrilled to find this one. No appliance is absolutely perfect, it has a lot to do with the temperature of your food when you place it in the oven, whether your steak is right out of the fridge or is closer to room temp. I like the fact you can put the lid on, store it in the refrigerator and it doesn't eat up the entire shelf. There are two other size containers that you can buy, but I think these two sizes are great. I can't think of any cons right now, of course, it's brand new so let's see how long it lasts, but I'm happy with it.
Last holiday season, Walmart got a huge pile of an air fryer lid that was supposed to sit on your pan or glass casserole and air fry your food. It bombed so bad that they were marking them down to twenty bucks after Christmas to get rid of them. Now, Ninja is bringing back the concept for a very high price this season. Plus look at the clutter and all of the stuff you will have to find a place to store. This just seems silly.
I think ninja made this for people who are switching from nonstick to glass air-fryers. There was a study done that nonstick airfyers had a lot of carcinogens due to the nonstick coating.
It’s a very good air fryer, no issues at all. Had it for 10 days cooked everyday with it.. i live in a 28 foot RV and there’s no issue on “clutter” get the product before doing a review
So a modern hallogen oven? These were all the rage in the mid 2000s lol, they were soon left to rot because cleaning a heavy bowl after every use isnt very convenient.
I have a Woodfire XL and I LOVE that thing... most of these gadgets are gimmicky or situational but the Woodfire XL is the real deal. I even brought it to work once and smoked a couple packs of chicken thighs and everyone was blown away how fast/good it was.
Seems like a cool concept. Might not be for me, but definitely if you are lacking space it seems useful. Probably super energy efficient too because of the small size. Really like the idea of using glass to see the food cooking.
I have one thing to add about the timer. When you set it for 10 minutes on your stove it counts down to nine minutes and 59 seconds so it makes me wonder if this item is doing that as well but it does not show the seconds.
wait how it jump up to $795 but in this video he say it about 150 or maybe 160 do the ship cost that dam high or something or is that of it upgrade path like i not joke i asking on why it so high there
For grilled cheese and most other sandwiches, I cut diagonal twice to make small finger triangles. Nice demonstration of a compact air fryer. Makes me hungry.
They keep coming up with really cool stuff. I will say there's still a big reason I love my instant pot duo crisp. The air coming out the vent is just warm so it's not heating up house as much as other units & brands. Not sure how they do it but that's a big bonus for me. Does a great job too. Plus its also an instant pot with all its features like steam, pressure cook, slow cook etc.
When marinating, I'd either take the grill grate out of the glass container, or marinate in a different container completely. With the grate in place, all the marinade simply falls to the bottom, below what is supposed to be marinating. Other than that, it looks pretty good. For the steak, or the grilled cheese, I would preheat the grate for a few minutes with no food first to get it hot. Then put the steak in to cook. As for the uneven cooking, there is probably a dead spot in the middle of the fan because the fan unit is too close to the food being cooked.
Ninja makes plenty of smaller air fryers for those use cases but you're right. This one seems like a weird half measure. Kinda cool that the meal is self contained in the glass though. Probably good for casseroles
James, when you set it for 5 minutes, it immediately goes to 4 because it's 4:59. The 59 seconds just aren't visible. Only the minutes are visible. So, 5 minutes is exactly 5:00 minutes. Hope that makes sense.
@@ItFigures89 I’d hate to be his neighbours as he films noisy vids at 3:00AM. No thought whatsoever. He used to be very good and really entertaining, those days have long gone
@@TedCornish agree. Little too intentional with the mispronunciations thinking he's so smart to get people to comment. It's kind of annoying. He used to be fun to watch. Not so much anymore.
I don't see the Problem with the timer. Start a 3 minute in timer? Tim runs down like 2:59, 2:58,... And you'll see the 2 on the display until the minute is over. But maybe I just don't understand what his issue is 😂
Whenever the instructions say: cook for 10 mins and flip half way; I set the timer for 5 and then flip and set the timer for 5 more. Way easier on my old brain. LOL
Did the Ninja recipe book call for butter on the grill cheese bread? I know that's the method for traditional grill cheese fried in a skillet, but in this case, it was the butter that kept the center of the bread moist.
Idk if Ninja already did some research But from what I've seen in many air fryer cooking If you experience uneven doneness, you need bigger tub so the hot air can move more freely
Is that a US thing? In the UK I've only seen microwaves that count down from the time you set and almost all show seconds digits so you can see exactly how long is left, I.e you set for 1:00 it goes to :59 not 1:59?
@@gsmith2000994 microwaves have 4 digit displays, this only has 2. So a 2+ minute timer will drop down by 1 when started because it can't show seconds remaining until there is only seconds left, 59-00.
I saw this and instantly want to get it for my camper!!! I just need to see what’s the wattage and I how much power it uses. Otherwise I’ll use the same pan in my oven with a little non stick spray.
Nifty little unit, great if you have a rather small kitchen. I'm still rocking a 15 years old Tefal ActiFry airfryer. It's huge, but it still runs, so no point replacing it.
These companies kill me constantly coming out with different products that do the same thing from the same company... 😂 ... How many air fryers do you need in your lineup 😂?
Whats the bottom black plate made of? Been reading alot of stuff about black kitchen ware containing fireretardant in the material and thats super toxic so curious about that
Looks just like a NuWave Oven from about 20 years ago before the air fryer fad. The NuWave wasn't glass though. I liked mine until it seemed to short circuit one day.
Air fried potatoes are my favorite thing to cook in them. Yukon gold taters cut up in a bowl, add some oil and seasonings. Cook till golden, put back in the bowl with the remaining oil and seasonings and toss before serving. I use big chunks of taters and like em browned so i go with 22 min in my ninja air fryer.
I wonder if you could get more even doneness with a grilled cheese if you ditched the plate and lined the bottom with aluminum foil. Just a thought. I love this idea simply because I've been looking for an air fryer that isn't a perma-fixture on the counter.
RE: steak tips and potatoes. Since there are two bowls with lids i would cook the beef first, put aside with the lid on and cook the potatoes in the other bowl. That way you could each to the crispiness you prefer.
I recently got a Ninja toaster oven/air fryer and i love it so much! I can bake things without using the whole oven for a small meal. It's paid for itself already in the amount i saved on my electric bill, no joke.
Looks nice and I can see interesting ideas there, but you gotta make the sacrifices... First thing that caught my eye is the fact that you need to keep pulling off an on the entire main unit. Can't see how else it could be done, but perhaps some structural thing that let you just put it up and down instead? In some sense, this kinda makes it occupy more space rather than less, as you can't just throw that whole thing just anywhere - it'll be hot, and you don't wanna damage the heating element under it. Seems like something that will be prone to accidents and breakage. Not that it's fragile, but awkward to handle. It's kinda like the pot lid problem. Good thing is that you can use the whole tray as storage. This is what I like about my cooking set - removable handle and proper set of lids means I don't need to transfer everything into a separate container to store. Plus it looks pretty fancy, doesn't look out of place on a table. Being able to see the food as it's getting done is also quite unique to this product... even though you can't really see the top, which is kinda what you need to see the most. xD But being able to look the sides of it is still quite a big bonus. About the size... it's hard to see without a side by side. Seems larger, but shallower in comparison to a regular air fryer... but because it's glass, has a base, and is a different format, I'm still not sure. How much more portable it is in comparison to a small air fryer? Anyways, looks plenty fine! I'd probably get one if I didn't already have an air fryer, perhaps. The one thing that I personally don't like, but it's a personal thing, is the digital stuff. My air fryer has two dials - temperature and a timer. That's how it should be for me, like a stove.
If the steak tips were really cold (even frozen?) to start, it might have been more rare. This is not a cooker to use on a hot, humid day in the house, but because it's so portable you could use it out on a porch or patio.
For the steak tips, I’m sure if you refrigerated them for several hours so they started off a lot colder before you started cooking, the steak would not have overcooked.
Well that works better than I expected - especially with more than 1 layer of tater tots and the chicken wings. What are you using for the thermal imaging? Thanks for the reviews!
Two things: When you thickly butter bread, it usually doesn’t brown where it is buttered as darkly as it does at the edges where you don’t butter it as much And when making a dip, you might want to dice up your chicken a lot smaller than you had. Into, oh, maybe dippable by a chip sized dices rather than topping for salad large enough to spear with a fork sized chunks?
James not understanding the timer was interesting. It's correct. If you put in the timer 9 minutes, when it starts it will go to 8.59, 8.58, 8.57 and so on. It's not bit enough to show the seconds, so when it starts at 9 minutes it will naturally go to 8 and when it's in the last minute, which is 60 seconds, then it'll go 59, 58, 57 and so on. It's correct. PS: I used a full stop as the separator because if I used colon YT would interpret it as a moment in the video.
You don't have to add a minute to the timer.. It's just not got enough segments to show you the seconds. 10 is 10 minutes, which immediately drops to 9 (59) .. You just can't see those seconds. Once you reach under 1 minute, it switches modes and shows you seconds remaining instead of full minutes remaining.
I can see this being a thing in an office or a dorm common kitchen or something. You can bring your own food in your own container and crisp it up instead of using the microwave
I think if you ran a separate time, you'd find it was dead on. Just unusual to bury the last minute in a 60 second countdown. This would be a great choice for a small weekender RV airfryer. Too small for us full timers. I still have my full size Walmart model, been using it 5 years.
