A playthrough of Taito's 1996 interactive movie Laserdisc arcade title port for the Sony PlayStation, Ninja Hayate (known as Revenge of the Ninja when it was released in America for the Sega CD).
Just like Thunder Storm/Contra Command and Time Gal, for as reasonably well as the Sega CD handled this 1984 Taito arcade FMV classic, it's goes without saying that the PS1 flattens it in all regards. The video quality is thoroughly excellent, the controls are super responsive, and the game is in English, despite being an exclusive Japanese release. If you want the best home version of this ever released, look no further.
This game was packaged with Time Gal in a double pack.

Another fantastic PS1 port of a classic LaserDisc game - Revenge of the Ninja! If you only played the Sega CD version back in the day, you've got to see the difference!

did the segs cd version have more boards then the ps1 version?

No, the same amount, in a much smaller viewing window with worse pixelated visuals. The Saturn and PS1 versions of this are some of the best home ports of the original laserdisc arcade game. Of course they both come bundled with Time Gal, and will hurt your wallet severely.

That moment in the foundry sequence where Hayate goes through the gears, the guys at Taito were probably inspired by that scene in "Modern Times".

I have this PS1 game and a paid license for the PsxMC media converter. The PsxMC conversion tool is from a software author was only know outside of Japan by the pseudonym "Fyiro". With the ability to convert the PlayStation's proprietary STR video files back to AVI and the use of TMPGEnc Plus, I was able to recreate the content of the original LaserDisc. I also able to order the sequences exactly as on the original LaserDisc. I don't have the facilities, to produce an actual LaserDisc, but I was able to recreate the content - with the LD accurate sequencing. To stay faithful to the ideology set forth by the authors of the Daphne Emulator, I kept the recreated "virtual" laserdisc in the 640x480, SuperVCD-compliant, MPEG-2 format that ends with the three-lettered extension MPG.

I played the Sega CD version. I could be wrong, but I swear there were more sound effects. There are spots in this where it felt off that you couldn't hear footsteps, or other sounds.

On this title, I've played the U.S. Sega CD and Japan Sega Saturn (just like the Japan PS1 version) and there are subtle differences on about every scene of the game.

You're right. The Sega cd version was better sound wise. It actually had more sound effects and music. Also, the sound effects for when you pressed the action button sounded better on Sega cd. It's kind of annoying in this ps1 version. The overall video quality looks much better on the ps1, though.

The PS1 version uses the same sound effects the arcade version did, see also the Saturn version, which is identical to this one. The Sega CD one was a mess, with completely different sounds, pixelated as hell video, and a smaller viewpoint to work with.

The Sega CD version had alot more levels from what I remember. I think there were 20 episodes in the game?

So i just started playing my psx import and am having trouble with diagonals.. It doesnt seem to work for me all of the time. Does it mean you have 2 choices (left up,right up,etc) or u have to force the psx pad diagonally? (Again.,not always effective)

If it's pointing diagonally, you need to push the two directional keys that it sits between. If it points to the upper left, you have to push both up and left
