Yup I think the person that saved him isn't necessarily the guy that was talking to him on the phone but someone who is working with the same guy. That person can be Emma or someone else. But I strongly believe that the guy who tried to help him in the phone wasn't there. But he's somehow connected to the person that saved him.

You know what's not sitting right with me ? That his wife is dead. Her secret art is still not revealed. What if it was something like sekiro coming back to life after death and she's still alive and placed her mask on another corpse after higan saw her last time. Would be funny if that pink ninja is his wife pushing him to take revenge for the kid and not revealing herself so he doesn't get soft. It might not be emma in that pink suit cause why would they use someone from a big list ( they're probably spies or commons for the main villains) in an actual elite level combat scenerio ? Or maybe she knocked the person which was supposed to go in pink suit ? Who knows
