I like how they made it canon, as i saw this in one of the 12-13 ninjago comics growing up, where it said a darkness touch the snake and corrupted it. I'm glad i was right thinking the overlord was the darkness!

I like to believe that the Overlord’s line, “all that has happened, was by my design!” means that he saw everything that was going to happen (even going past Season 3). If we think about it most of the story is because of him, if Garmadon never got bit the story would’ve been significantly different.

I concour, maybe because i think that the fsm had the ability to see into the future or implied that maybe the overlord has the same power because of him being a counterpart to the first spinjitsu master. Or maybe he was influencing the events of the wildbrain seasons.

The overlord being the one that corrupted the Devourer explains why the Devourer is inherently evil while the serpentine are not, and it also explains why the devour's Venom was able to reanimate the stone army.

About Ninjago having this in the back pocket, while it probably wasn't always planned in the main series, the concept that the overlord corrupting the Great Devour was a thing in the supplementary comics back in the day so the most likely thing was that the team probably adapted the idea into the main series.

This was a fantastic twist! Sure, it came out of nowhere, but that doesn't mean it doesn't make sense. It added stakes to the fight and really showed how much the Overload influenced Ninjago (the world itself and the series). I also love how Lloyd, Garmadon, and Harumi all teamed up to fight him... because (as my sister pointed out) he ruined all of their lives, and now created the very people who would bring him down! It was a really cool added bit of lore that is a great bombshell for the finale... now time to go rewatch the show with this in mind!

the biggest reveal for me was the "Jump up kick back whip around and spin" That part was something I never expected. I really love how they made the intro a song and the song was a major part. I feel like they thought that it would be a good idea and a giant reveal. But I love it and the intro song is a banger.

Thank goodness I am not the only one thinks that! I've always wonder why the devourer has that look before garmadon finish it off. I've always thought that maybe the devourer has accepted its destiny. But that was before this reveal. I just want to share my thoughts😅. Sorry if it was long🥲

This reveal was amazing! What better way to get revenge against a rival (the FSM) than to corrupt one of his sons with the same evil he possesses. It's amazing how the Overlord has been planning this since the very beginning, even foreseeing Garmadon killing the Devourer, and its venom resurrecting his stone army!

My jaw absolutely dropped when the Overlord dropped this bombshell during the battle, seemingly out of butt-fuq nowhere. Though it was out of nowhere, it still explained a bunch and fill plot holes from previous seasons.

I literally theorized this for years about the Great Devourer and the Overlord would be connected and I still can't belive my theory came ture! I had this theory ever since the stone warriors were the first main enemies of season 2, since the Great Devour's goo dripped on the stone warriors bringing them to life. And how Garmadon turned good when Lloyd defeated the Overlord and it confused me how Garmadon's corruption was cured when the Overlord was defeated, it gave me so much theories that maybe the Great Devourer and the Overlord are connected in Ninjago in some way and finally, 10 years later, my theory became true and I still can't believe it!

While I was conflicted on the idea of the Overlord being responsible for the corruption of the Great Devourer. But now I liked this twist a lot, it puts everything we know about the Great Devourer in a completely different point of view. Although I'm unsure if Harumi was redeemed or not (hope the latter is true) this scene was done well enough, although I would hate it if it actually indicated her redemption

I'm not shocked at all because it was actually teased all the way back in 2012. In the book The tomb of the fangpyre it was revealed that the Great Devourer was just a garden snake that one day got corrupted by a darkness. Though this book is non canon this appears to be canon as the Overlord just revealed to be that darkness

Idk how I feel about this reveal it’s kinda cleaver and unexpected for sure but at the same time rewatching it makes me feel like this was added only to have Harumi turn on the overlord for good. Also something to note Acidcicus mentioned in S3 that the Great Devourer was created to combat the golden master or something but might be wrong about that. but overall it’s not a bad thing I just feel mixed at the moment

I'm not a big fan of retcons generally but I'm really glad they did this. I always thought it was kind of weird that the Great Devourer was originally some tiny garden snake that happened to bite a guy, and also that the Overlord seemed weirdly forgotten by the series despite how significant he was in early seasons (and with him, the significance of the Golden Ninja prophecy seemed to just be dropped from the script rather abruptly). This retcon fixes a lot of things about the quickly-forgotten importance of the Overlord, how random and coincidental Garmadon's possession seemed, and how it ties in with the significance of the Golden Ninja prophecy. It may be hastily thrown together but I'm glad they spent the last season of this series making the Overlord as important and influential as he originally seemed. It's like they tied the story back to its roots.

There's a comic that explains the backstory behind the Devourer, Garmadon's corruption(albeit vaguely), and the Serpentine tribes- issue #4, titled "Tomb of the Fangpyre," which was released all the way back in 2012- and even has a shot seemingly from just before what was shown in Wu's memory towards the beginning of Season 1 Episode 7, titled "Tick Tock." I happened to get and read a copy of it around the time it came out, so I wasn't too surprised, but I imagine it must have been a huge shock to those who hadn't read it.

This actually is huge. It means that the overlord was probably more involved than we might think. Maybe he manipulated more than we thought, it’s actually kind of freaky when you think about it. Like what if it wasn’t just the devourer he corrupted and stuff? Actually, this plot twist makes a lot more sense when you think about it. What kind of snake would have venom that turns you into an evil supervillain?

I adore the twist!! However, I am a bit disappointed that Pythor didn’t get anything to do with it. He did release the great devourer, so I think he should of had some screen time for that. The overlord may of poisoned Garmadon, but Pythor released it, causing Harumi’s parents to die. I am still very happy with the scene and the twist, but I think just adding Pythor (or even doing something in another scene) would of done much better. Overall, the show is still great, and is one of my favourite if not my favourite Ninjago series out there.

Wait, was this a twist? I swear the show writers mentioned the Overlord and Devourer being connected a lot back in around 2016-2017ish. While the show itself never outright said it, this was something the fanbase seemed to have agreed on for ages. Devourer venom made Garmadon evil and reanimated the Stone Warriors + The Overlord saying he was responsible for Garmadon's evil in S2 + Killing the Overlord made Garmadon good again = The Devourer got its powers from the Overlord. People've been saying that since 2013

I think Overlord possesed Harumi and further after he got defeated because he brought her back to life and have connection with her. Maybe when evil increase in Ninjago he will posses her again and somehow gain his physical form again it's like when Scale hypnonized Cole and he succesfully escaped but part of this hypnonized was in Cole and Scale was able to see what is happening in bounty while they talking. Or maybe he will find a new villains to gain his form again if Ninjago Staff has a idea to give us new villains because we saw only snakes in past few seasons. And i think this bombshell that Overlord drop about corrupt is that maybe they left about ideas how to turn Harumi good and they decided to drop this to turn her good.
