I honestly didn’t think that Nintendo would jump back into live action so quickly. This is honestly great news.

I’m cautiously optimistic. Zelda is so fantastical and downright strange so it’ll be interesting to see how they adapt it into Live Action

I kinda wished it would be a animated film by either dreamworks or sony as their animation styles fit so well with the botw art style.

I was really hoping that it would be 3D animated, I’m worried for the CGI as the land of hyrule is filled with mystical creatures. I think that dark-fantasy story could really be told in animation much more effectively than live-action. All that considered, a LoZ movie is long overdue in any form.

I feel like as of right now, it's hard to judge whether this movie will be good or not. Even with knowing who is directing/producing/writing. It's just too early to know and as time goes on, we will definitely get a good idea of what it will be like. I also feel like a franchise like Zelda works in 2D, 3D, and live action. Live action will definitely be the hardest out of those three though but it's doable. We'll just have to see!

LETS GO, hope we get a animated Kirby film soon too, but for Zelda I wonder if they could adapt some of the manga?

Been a Zelda fan for years I always wanted a movie from the franchise I think since Miyamoto is involved in production He knows better than anyone how to do it right, I mean he created this world after all. Just like how Oda, creator of One Piece, was heavily involved in the production of the live action remake of the anime and look how good that turned out so it’s definitely doable. Dream come true for us Hylians

I was never really a fan of the legend of Zelda games chris but I hope they’re able to make a movie that would make the actual fans happy!

Speaking of Maze Runner I personally think Thomas Brodie-Sangster would be great for Link.

I can see this new tactic with tackling video game adaptations, if the fans are big enough, a video game film could sell millions upon millions and if almost perfected, billions and those fans could maybe share and spread whatever film it is. I am excited for this new strategy for doing video game adaptations but also hesitant about it.

Nintendo working with Universal, Sega working with Paramount, Sony working(mostly) with Disney, And, if news on that Minecraft movie isn't a lie, Microsoft working with Warner Bros. I’m a little bit nervous about it, because as someone who hasn’t played the games at all, I would love to see this movie and try to get into the whole legend of Zelda franchise. I know people want to make movies for the fans I think it’s fantastic the problem is that you’re going to alienate a lot of people who don’t know about the game but want to get into it.

I hope that either Hunter Schafer or Daisy Edgar Jones (just dye her hair blonde, she'd be perfect) could play Zelda. I'm fancasting both of them, hopefully Nintendo and Sony makes the right choice 🙌

After the Mario Movie, I am highly anticipating this movie. I’ve never played a game of Legend of Zelda and I don’t really know much about the story but there is potential in a movie like this.

I just hope nintendo is as involved with this one as they were with the mario movie

To me personally, I feel like live action is the most popular route. So many fan films, even the ign trailer we got in 2008 that was meant to be a joke for April fools still looked great. I'm surprised they were even able to film anything without Nintendo's approval, though maybe they did, for a trailer. Ever since 2008, I've been wanting a live action legend of zelda movie for years. And since around 2015 when Netflix announced they were doing one which ended up being scrapped because Nintendo didn't want to work with them, I think it really had to do with which studio was Nintendo willing to work with to make a good adaptation. If they do any game, they should go with the obvious route of ocarina of time with elements of other games in there too like the ign trailer attempted to do. But thats just me. I hope they do it right and itll be interesting what they do with link who is known to not talk at all.

I’ll accept what ever Nintendo and Sony gives us however I have an idea for what the story can be. Either a trilogy series based of Ocarina of Time, or a movie that tells the story of how the three separate timelines after OoT reunite before the events of Breath of the Wild.

After The Maze Runner trilogy, I became a big fan of Wes Ball and I put my trust on him by making a Legend of Zelda movie that we will all love and remember.

Considering Illumination’s only live action movie is HOP, I think they definitely are dodging a bullet. I would have wanted this to be animated but I am hoping this turns out well but only time will tell

As a dad of an 8 year old son who has played the 2 new Zelda games this year I’m excited for this to share with him. We love going to the movies together

Wes Ball will hopefully do some justice to the franchise. It’s a good feeling to have a fresh take at the world that Matt Reeves created back wayyy yonder.

I am still confused to why it’s live-action and distributed by Sony rather than being animated and by Universal and Illumination like with Mario. We were all hoping for a shared universe leading to a Smash film, but it seems that that isn’t happening. But at the same time the film being live-action is better.

4:38 they probably will especially when considering that this would be Connelly's second time writing a movie for Nintendo that has a lot of lore, with the first being Detective Pikachu (since the Pokemon Company is co-owned by Nintendo). Plus the fact Nintendo we all know Nintendo must have had a huge hand in creating the story for the recent Mario Brothers movie sense they basically set the parameters on what not to do. I think what the spiderman producer and the other Sony executives need to remember is that Nintendo will be the one who decides to pull the plug on the project. In other words they will need to be more careful than with the spiderman mcu films.

I think Thomas Brodie-Sangster would make for a very good Link imo because he was fantastic in the Maze Runner Movies which as you have mentioned was directed by Wes Ball and Thomas has expirence playing silent characters such as Ferb so he has that aspect of Link nailed down. Chris, who would you like to see play Link?

Tbf, if Nintendo does end up becoming the next Marvel in terms of films then this kinda makes sense, as this is exactly what happened with the MCU back in Phase 1 before the Disney buyout. Majority of the films were distributed by Paramount Pictures, while Hulk was distributed by Universal. Wasn't until Avengers 1 where Disney took over distribution.

I’m a huge fan of those last 2 ape movies and was already really skeptical about the new one. Now I’ll be really interested to see how this new one turns now cause its director is doing this Zelda movie. Hopefully Nintendo will have majority of the calls with this movie to make sure it turns out well

I feel like the answer of for the fans and general audience is some where in the middle, but leaning on the fan side. There is a reason these IP are popular, so use that to your advantage. I feel that people aren’t looking for your “artistic vision” or “your version.” Show us that you can do what honors the lore and source material first, then we can talk about making changes. Mainly for characters that you didn’t create, but yeah of course do whatever on original IP… But make it just palatable for the general audience that you don’t just assume they’ll get the triforce or who Ganon is without explaining it lol

I remember when the April Fools trailer came out for a live action Legend of Zelda, fans were so angry. I'm incredibly worried about the choices made for making this highly desired movie happen. I wonder if it would've been better to stick with animation. Unreal Engine has done wonders, so maybe using that? Idk, we'll see how things go

I hope they go with either Ocarina of Time or Link to the Past. I wouldn't mind Breath of the Wild as a sequel but I think there are better stories to start with. Not crazy about the writer and director but also not the worst news of who they could have gotten.

Nintendo PLEASE make sure you have full control of the writing. I don’t want the third act to contain prehistoric bugs or Link and Ganondorf (who has now turned good) to share a passionate moment before Ganondorf disappears And Link gives himself the last name Skywalker.

f we are not getting an animated movie, here is what I wanted to see in a Zelda live action version: -History of Hyrule, the Goddess Hylia, Demon King Demise and the Triforce - Ganondorf as the main baddy with some more in depth into his character - Link x Princess Zelda's relationship. - Cast anyone that isn’t Tom Holland for Link. - Link’s inner struggle between being a Hero of Hyrule and his own happiness. - An original story ( not a copy of OT, BOTW or TOTK) that is well structured with it's own set of characters, a new version of Hyrule, and a epic action- fantasy with a dash of gritty realism that is build by confident writers.

Avi Arad is the greatest Spider-Man villain of all time (right next to Corn of Coblin).

I think it’s gonna be good. Nintendo is once again fully behind it and have full creative control, and Zelda has way more story than Mario ever will which was the main problem with Mario. Also, there is a leak going around that there is gonna be both a live action and animated Zelda, which I expect Illumination to do maybe a Wind Waker adaption and the live action does more of a dark Zelda like OOT or TP.

Hey, I really liked the live action Ghost in the Shell. I hope we get an Akira, Neon Genesis, and Ninja Scroll live action one day.

One thing I think many have forgotten to mention here when it comes to Avi Arad is that he's also said to ve working on the Metal Gear Solid movie as well. But that's been so long ago that i doubt that's even in the works anymore. And with Sony and Nintendo working on this, I'm surprised you didn't bring up how full circle this got now since the leaked emails from a few years ago mentioned them making plans to work on the Mario Movie with them well before partnering with Illumination. Not to mention the caverns plans to make a Zelda series on Netflix as well.

If pulled off well sure, yet say they should keep all near future projects including ZELDA animated, with same studio behind Mario for all of them. Just keep the story & vibes intact, and you'll see nothing but authentic bangers

Was i the only person that wanted a Legend of Zelda film made by Dreamworks with the team of How To Train Your Dragon or Puss In Boots Last Wish in charge? I mean i would’ve even been fine with Sony if they had just given it to their animation department which are killing it right now. I just don’t see this being something that audiences will take with open arms especially since Sword and Sorcery films aren’t doing well at the box office.

I hate the fact that is live action. They're just gonna use famous celebrities instead of actually giving good unknown actors that resemble the characters the opportunity. Besides, I'll never be pleased with a live action link. Link is cute and fruity and a short brave king and they can never find someone that looks like him or gives him an appropriate personality.

I wish they would've kept it animated since it'll be weird to adapt it into live action. I knew nothing of LoZ until my dad got me Majoras Mask for the 3ds back in 2014 and then played Ocarina of Time, since then I've absolutely loved the Zelda universe.

I think about this from time to time but a nice idea I've had for a zelda movie would be if Link was a bit like Tarzan rised in the forest all by himself making him unable to talk raised probably in secret by the deku tree and koroks without him ever seeing them only to be found by Zelda and trained into the hero of Hyrule or at least something along these lines would be nice

The fact that Miyamoto has partnered with Avi Arad tells me that this is going to be Sony studio fare through-and-through. Wes Ball will bring himself to this as much as Andy Serkis brought himself to Venom 2. Nintendo will love this partnership and it'll make lots of money. But like Mario it'll probably have a lacklustre story. Unlike Mario, I think people will get mad if it does.
