Nintendo Direct E3 2021 Reaction (DID THEY JUST SAVE E3?) 

As much as I fucking LOVED the Metroid Dread reveal, I also appreciate how Nintendo showed off smaller franchises like WarioWare and Advance Wars.

Fatal Frame V was Wii U exclusive. It's getting ported to everything now.

Tekken in smash, new Metroid, something about Zelda, I’d say it was pretty good. I definitely feel good about it

I actually respect that Nintendo doesn't high-pressure their developers into hitting deadlines at the cost of putting out unfinished games. Their attitude isn't "we have to hit the deadline no matter what", it's "it will be ready when it's ready, so just relax and let us do our jobs." We need more of that in this industry.

The crazy thing about Metroid Dread to me is that... Well they said this is end of the Metroid arc of the series. I am curious if Metroid 6 will focus on the evil Chozo for Metroid Samus Returns.

Dark Samus in Metroid Prime 2 wasn’t a stalker enemy like the SA-X, it was a reoccurring boss that appeared 3 times throughout the game

Dude, thank you so much for talking about the blown out of proportion back lash to E3. Speaking personally as a developer, Covid has been a REALLY challenging time working remotely- things that could have taken hours took days, and technical problems that were non-issues before were now major blockers. Everyone is working really hard to make sure that we're making games that everyone can get excited for and enjoy, its just taking a lot longer to get to that point. I understand the public frustration, and trust me, the frustration is felt internally during the creation process. All I can say is that once things return to "normal", people will be amazed with this new generation of tech, and what is possible

Nintendo had a solid showing. Lots of good mid-tier announcements. A BIG announcement with Metroid. And the new BotW2 stuff, while short and sweet, was definitely intriguing.

Strange brigade released on other consoles a couple years ago. Its literally available for 6 bucks on ps4

Microsoft also had a good conference. It definitely was not a spectacular e3 tho ( but e3 is kinda dead anyway so that was not a huge surprise)

None of the previous Metroid games had a persistent threat woven throughout the entire game where you get insta-killed if caught and can cloak yourself and it detects vision and sound.

These E3 videos of yours have become a part of my overall E3 experience over the past few years and I was so happy to see them return with E3 this year. So thank you for doing these, Jared! They really are fantastic. As for the Direct, the Zelda bit at the end was easily top of the list for me. While I wish they had announced some sort of 3D collection akin to Mario's, maybe we'll get those down the line. The Game & Watch was an incredibly pleasant surprise! I'm also super excited for Fatal Frame and very curious to see what Metroid Dread will be like!

I feel like this presentation was made for me. I love Metroid, Mario Golf, Mario Party and I am old, so I love the Cruis'n games. That Zelda Game & Watch looked really cool, too.

I still loved your opinions so I am glad to have seen these videos for the ones I couldn't catch at live. I did watch your Nintendo one live earlier today as I thankfully was able to do so with things going on for me. Though I agree that I think to many people thought there was going to be tons of games coming out of nowhere. For what I heard from your videos and what others had to show this year. I just glad we are at least getting something for E3. I definitely feel like that Nintendo did at least get me that E3 excitement cause I was there to see it. Though it could be bias cause it was the only one I could see live. So in that regard. I loved hearing thoughts as well. Though definitely will be happy to see when another video appears over here and to continue watching your game play channel as well!

Metroid Dread was definitely the highlight for me.

In Fusion, large parts of Samus' suit became infected with the X Parasite and she had to literally get cut out of it. So that's why even the basic silhouette of the suit looks so different.

Just one correction: The Mario Party Mini-Games are not exclusive to 1, 2 & 3, but all accross the series.

11:22 this is actually a Wii U port of Fatal Frame, there was a "small" controversy about censorship in the game. The cool part is that it is also coming to other platforms... even PC. nice.

Both Odin's Sphere and Dragon's Crown are by Vanillaware, so you're super right Jared! And I got the same exact vibes from the art style of this new game.

Thanks for the recaps through E3, and great perspectives at the start and end for E3 as a whole. Never played a Metroid game, so I’m definitely going to try out Dread.

So two things from the Treehouse to answer points mentioned in the video: 1. Mario Party Superstars keeps several aspects of the old boards, including Chance Time and Skeleton Doors. Plus, there are attempts at board-specific victories. While in Mario Party 2 you had a face off with Bowser in a cutscene in Space Land, this new game just has the Thwomps in those race cars come out and chase you off screen. It’s a cute touch. 2. The E.M.M.I. Is different from the S.A.X. While the latter had a line of sight, the former can ping Samus and go to her location within specific E.M.M.I. areas. The biggest difference though: E.M.M.I.s are instant. death. If you get caught by one it pierces Samus in the heart with a stinger. The Treehouse staff hinted that you might be able to parry the attack, perhaps to the effect of Zelda’s Guardian. This doesn’t change the fact that once it gets you and that cutscene starts, you’re screwed. Death here sets you back to where you entered the E.M.M.I. area.

kinda petered out a bit around 2/3s in, but the first half and ending was bloody amazing! my mouth was on the floor when they revealed that they were releasing Metroid Dread - that was the last thing I expected them to revive! The Zelda game and watch looked peng too, defo picking that up :)

Been loving these videos! Also that last bit at the end about giving these companies a break, LOVED that! So many of these entitled fans seem to forget that these developers had to go through what we all went through. Good work Jared!

I really don't think Dark Samus was the same concept as the SA-X or the EMMI. Dark Samus is probably closer to Vergil from Devil May Cry. A more powerful version of the main character that acts as a benchmark to show the players progress and you fight as both you and them grow. Dark Samus really isn't all that scary more imposing. The SA-X is closer to a tyrant from Resident Evil, but it only appears in certain scripted sequences that you can avoid for the most part, it's terrifying but a bit underutilized. Never has the mechanic been so central as it is with EMMI who will appear in every area and a consistent stealth/chase challenge.

Correction, the concept of an enemy hunting you down has only been utilised in Fusion, not in any other title. Dark Samus never actually hunts you in any title that character is present in.

This was really damn good of a direct. Just solid it and it has some things I quite like from it

I played Crus’n Blast on arcade a couple years ago on vacation and it’s a ton of fun, though I’m not sure how it’ll translate to home console.

7:43 Maybe as a bonus endgame thing, but Samus is permanently changed physiologically now because of her infusion with Metroid DNA in Metroid Fusion, that permanently changed her default suit color to Blue. Even at the end of Fusion it didn’t give her the old suit back, just the orange coloring. That’s also why she looks so damn veiny in the new suit, it’s the fusion suit under what looks to be some sort of armor she’s attached to it.

For E3 as a whole, this year as very pointless, but at least we got some great announcements, Nintendo being my favorite because I loved almost every trailer and gave a lot to look forward this year alone

When I saw Metroid Dread I felt like climbing into my roof and screaming at the top of my lungs. At least Nintendo is acknowledging the third part of its holy trinity. Nintendo’s First Lady deserves better than what she’s been getting...

Seeing Fatal Frame again was one of the highlights for me, I love those games and I didn't played the wiiu one so i'm happy for that!
