This video shows how to replace a defective bottom screen (touch screen) on the Nintedno DS Lite. The lower screen is made up of an LCD, a touch screen, and a plastic frame. A defective LCD can cause the DS Lite to not power on (flashes upper screen)

After replacing my screen the DS will not power on. After doing some looking online it might have blew the fuse on the mother board because THE NEW SCREEN DIDNT HAVE THE BLACK INSULATION ON THE BACK!!! This must be a common issue!! . Might not be a bad idea to include this in your video so others won’t have this same problem!

@@DanielSousa-wf8no If you meant after knowing there is no insulation I have no idea as I am a beginner with repairing. However if you meant how to deal with insulating a replacement screen without insulation you can use black electric tape and just follow what it looks like from the original bottom screen.

I saw some videos used electrical tape and put it on the back of lcd screen to insulate it, is it necessary to use eletrical tape? what about that thin frame sticking to touch screen before you remove?

Question: I recently bought a reshelled nds online, and the touch screen wasn't functioning as promised. In an attempt to fix it, I removed what I thought was just a curtousy screen protector (it didn't fill the whole screen to it's edges) and now the seller claims that I removed a crucial part. Would it have been that easy to peel off an important part of the digitizer?

I need to replace the screen on my ice blue DS Lite soon because the display has a distinct yellow tint. (I've noticed this happens sometimes.) I was worried about doing so, but seeing that it's a relatively easy thing to replace has given me some confidence.

I have the same problem with a yellowed screen and additionally I have a dead pixel on it too. Did you replace it? It seems straight forward but the step at 3:29 is kinda scary to me.

Video was perfect but I ran into a problem when repairing the bottom screen. I replaced my screen but once I did the ds will only power on for a second. If anyone has any tips please let me know :)

If you replaced the LCD screen then make sure you have the protective black tape on the back of the screen, otherwise the metal of the replacement screen will short onto the board

My problem is that the bottom screen is stuck white. I can turn it on easily and can actually interact with the screen it’s just I can’t see what’s happening. Any idea what the problem is?

Thanks I was cleaning my DS with isopropilic alcohol and It get inside of bottom screen, appearing like dark spots. I followed your steps and disassembly the ds and cleaned inside the LCD layers. Looks better, but not like before :(

I wish I would’ve known this back when I was a kid, I ended up disassembling mine and it’s still sitting disassembled, I broke the power switch and lost motivation to fix it. I might just get back into it soon

I have a question. I installed a custom shell on my DS and suddenly the touch screen isn't working but the rest of the DS works. Is this because of the small ribbon cable that loops around the back or the ribbon cable to the left side of the touchscreen?

I wonder why you removed the frame from the touchscreen. In this case it seems not necessary. I am right? I need to replace a lower LCD on a recent sealed DS Lite that I opened and I'd rather not remove the frame from the screen.

I have a slightly different issue. The clip for the digitiser cable is broken which is why i think thr touch is not working. But also, when i turn the DS lite on, the bottom screen is HEAVILY discoloured. I can still see everything on the bottom screen, but its really hard because its all black and green. Any tips how to fix?

Please, PLEASE don’t use power tools when reinserting the screws! You run the risk of stripping the screw heads.

I'm disliking the video because you fail to mention a crucial point when replacing the bottom screen. IT NEEDS TO HAVE INSULATION IN THE BACK SO IT DOESN'T SHORT CIRCUIT WITHE THE MOTHERBOARD!! I'm leaving this piece of advice to anyone that may attempt to do this by themselves, and commit the same mistake that I did and just put the new screen as is and kill the console. If you buy an aftermarket replacement, be sure to check the back of it and see if it has electric tape on the back of it or any other form of insulation, or else you're screwed.
