This was basically the Triforce of Nintendo. I really miss these days, today no one in Nintendo does Anything. Iwata and Reggie really understood the audience, they had to be what the people sees on them, and yet they had fun!! I'm not sad because they're gone, I'm happy because it happened and I lived those moments. Iwata was the greatest leader ever.
This is what makes Nintendo unique , they can laugh at themselves with simple things like this , they teach us there is no age for videogames , videogames are art .
"On my business card I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata R.I.P Satoru Iwata You were one of those lights that shined the brightest, in my childhood, and now. And I'll never forget you!
Honestly, this game reveal is severely underappreciated. Whether you were a fan of zero or not, this is reveal is so classic Nintendo. And the fact that it's Iwatas last Nintendo product reveal makes it that much more special. What a moment in history. I hope we all look back on this reveal like LoZ twilight princess' in '04.
I just imagine these three if they had a sit com would have character archetypes. Iwatas the straight guy, Reggies the ever lovable jock, and Shigeru is the creative/fun guy.
Satoru Iwata was such a great dude. The guy stood by his work and took a 50% pay cut so that he wouldn't have to fire his staff. Meanwhile, other companies like Activision-Blizzard are firing employees en masse while giving 15 million dollar bonuses to CEOs like Bobby Kotick. RIP Mr. Iwata; you were truly a great man and a true gamer at heart.
Spike Riley You haven't seen him hassle with backstage shenanigans on the Muppet Show, or have to put up with an earmuff salesman named Grover. Both of which can be seen on RU-vid. Not to mension The Muppet Show is gonna be getting a comeback, This Fall on ABC! It's time to get things started.
You know why they did the puppet thing? So that nobody would see a man like Iwata in a state of sickness and decay. It makes this whole intro a lot sadder.
Miyamoto was a fan of shows like Thunderbirds. However, Star Fox's animal aesthetic was more up the alley of someone like Jim Henson rather than Gerry Anderson. And, wouldn't you know it? The Jim Henson Company is precisely who made the puppets seen here.
"On my business card, I am a corporate president. In my mind, I am a game developer. But in my heart, I am a gamer." - Satoru Iwata R.I.P You will forever be remembered
Iwata-san did so much for the fans and for Nintendo. He truly cared about the company and for the fans' happiness. Thank you for everything, Satoru Iwata.
Well now that Iwata is gone Nintendo seems to be very anti consumer and not really caring about their fans. While I do like some of the modern Nintendo games some of them release unfinished and get free updates later. The thing that disappointed me the most was the Mario 3D all stars collection. Nintendo didn’t even try or bother to remaster the games. Although this will never happen say hypothetically Iwata comes back to life and he sees the 3d all stars collection, he would be so disgusted by how lazy the collection is.
A lot of complainers in the comment section are saying "Nintendo died with Iwata" but in reality he didn't and never did. If they actually did then how come Nintendo paid tribute to him in the Super Mario Bros credit scene, also, Nintendo is still alive and they have a bright future. The Super Mario Bros movie, Super Nintendo World, tears of the kingdom and more future switch games to come out and considering the fact that the switch sold over 125.62 million units They still have a brighter future ahead of themselves.
R.I.P Iwata. I still miss you. Thankyou for the Nintendo switch and for Super smash bros and Earthbound and for making Pokémon go huge and everything you’ve done for us. You were a true hero. Nothing can erase the amazing things you’ve done.

Iwata was the only cooperate executive that wanted to have fun and wanted other people to have fun and this just shows that he wanted to make people laugh even when he was very ill satoru you will never be forgotten in the many hearts of Nintendo fans forever
R.I.P. “The key here is not what you are playing but how you will be playing. Revolution will also create entirely new genres to expand the definition of video games.” ~ Satoru Iwata
You were such an important part of my childhood and an icon of not only Nintendo, but for any aspiring programmers who are inspired by your amazing programming feats. You will be sorely missed, Iwata. Until we see you again.
They better close this with Statler and Waldorf with Cranky Kong, heckling the thing! "Well boys, it's finally over?" "The E3 Digital Event?" "No, Nintendo's career in video games!" "DOH-HOHOHOHOHOHO!"
This was the best E3 presentation ever. I know Star Fox Zero didn't do great, but holy shit, the charm and final send off for Iwata this year was just amazing.
This is the Nintendo I'll love for ever. In the hardest times with Wii U always with you, Mr. Iwata. Now you're gone and feels like Nintendo lost its magic.
This was a truly special event. Nintendo's charm back then was unmatched both in software, ui, games, events, etc. I hope they do stuff like this with their next console, get back to Nintendo DS, Wii, 3DS era charm levels and keep Switch speed
I think this is what Nintendo has been missing in recent years. Don't get me wrong, their business practices have never really changed (they're actually better in recent years about their content and such.) But this affable, willing to put their face at the forefront and poke fun at themselves sort of presentation style was much more personal and intimate than what we currently have. I mean, Nintendo directs have always been glorified ad reels, but bits like these are why we used to watch them. Now, I'd rather watch the highlights of each direct.
