Nintendo usually do their credits by putting every name at once in one place instead of crediting individuals for every single track. It would be nice to see, but it can get difficult with modern game OSTs because they're often made by a bunch of different people or reiterate on previous composers' ideas. SEGA does the same thing, where unless there's clearly one band or artist responsible for a song like Crush 40, they just credit "SEGA Sound Team".
Well at the very least they could give album credits for who worked on a game. That said, usually they do give individual track credits on the rare CD releases. That’s how we know this track was composed by Kazumi Totaka for example.
Nintendo finally acknowledging that people want to listen to their music but then making it only for their specific app is the most Nintendo thing ever.
Agreed, they also made one of the most cheapest 1st party music service, being apart of their Switch Online subscription which is super cheap for tier one subscribers.
Ong where is Tears of the Kingdom, Majora's Mask, Twilight Princess, Wind Waker, Skyward Sword, A Link to the Past, A Link Between Worlds, Echoes of Wisdom, Phantom Hourglass, Spirit Tracks, Age of Calamity, Hyrule Warriors, Tri force Heroes, Link's Awakening, Zelda I, Zelda II, Minish Cap, Oracle of Ages, Oracle of Seasons and Persona 5 (You'll never see it comiiiing)
@@kreekkrap trying to dodge viruses and having to jump through a bunch of hoops any time you want to download a Nintendo song isn't very convenient. this app needs a lot of work in terms of content, but we've been asking for an official way to listen to Nintendo OSTs for a long time.
First impressions after testing : Pros: -Ergonomic / Simple design -Console music themes (only Wii for now, but it's cool to have them) -Possibility to extends up to 1h a track and/or loop it. -Legal way to listen to nintendo music Cons: -Some catalogues are incomplete (no Final lap version of MK8dx's tracks) -Composers are not credited -Huge lack of content As it stands now, it's okay, but far from usable. RU-vid already has all of those musics and more. But if it is updated regularly, I could see myself using it often whenever I'm in a 'Nintendo' mood.
Yes, this is a feature. A freebie if you already have a subscription and see value in it, but this would not persuade anyone to get one. As I already have the subscription because I play a lot of Tetris 99, this is already worth it.
My biggest con is by far the lack of library. 22 games plus wii music is absolutely absurd and quite frankly embarrassing. Barring weekly add on's this has a very short shelf life.
I also appreciate the premade categorizations. As someone who downloaded the BotW OST and had to sort the music myself by Overworld themes, Village themes Battle/Boss themes and Story-related themes, it was a huge pain because of the size of the soundtrack. So, just having an individual part (category) of the OST you want to listen to is neat.
Me after tirelessly editing, tagging, refining, cover art making and organising my local playlist that consists of more than 3000 tracks: "Oooo Nintendo Music app :D"
@@fletchking-teamdream7598what certain features does this have that Spotify doesn’t ? Also searching through unrelated music…. What? Have you ever used Spotify? Just type the name of the game in and it immediately comes up. Simple. Many many many other companies have their game music up on Spotify.
@@kreekkrap I don't have Spotify Premium because I think there are way better alternatives out there. I have NSO, though. Should've Nintendo created a dedicated RU-vid channel for their music like for example Ubisoft did? Probably, but that's not a move I'd expect from a company that's as protective of their IPs as Nintendo.
Oh wow, people have been asking for something like this since they love taking down music on youtube, and now there actually IS a proper alternative, damn...
@@TheWiiHunterit’s from DKC2 right? Hopefully they add more games soon. This is just them adding music files, an image, and some info for songs so this won’t be drip fed to us….right? 🥲😅
The only way people will consider this a proper alternative is if they add more music, and add it SOON. Right now, I can go to RU-vid, search basically any Nintendo track I'm interested in, and find it immediately, which is far more convenient than the limited selection in the Music App. I want to use the app more, but the song selection is too limited for me. Also, when they add a soundtrack, they need to add the FULL soundtrack. Splatoon 3 in particular is currently missing several music tracks as well as ALL of Side Order, which is extremely annoying.
@beanman3113 Super Mario Odyssey and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe have their full soundtracks uploaded. Nintendo did say that they'll add more music to the service. We're simply going to have to be patient. As someone with RU-vid AND the app, this is an absolute win for me.
I actually thought it would be a flop, but it’s a lot easier than having a watch later playlist on RU-vid and for free with a Nintendo Switch Online. It’s kind of a banger deal.
Now all that's left is to add the rest of the thousands and thousands of songs from Nintendo games, or maybe even expand by becoming the first exclusive app for music from games! A very interesting idea!
I've ALWAYS been hearing Nintendo music playing Nintendo games since my childhood and gotta say this is one of the BEST ideas from Nintendo I will live with your music defienitily Super Mario, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Metroid, Xenoblade, Pokémon and Zelda thank you! ❤
@@QuizMasterEntertainment Sony and Microsoft has their own music labels (Sony having the bigger one: Sony Music) but they do not own music streaming services and they both publish their songs at Spotify and RU-vid, what's your point?
@@TheHENOOB Well, Sony does, Microsoft doesn't anymore. They had Music Groove, but hilariously enough, didn't last. My point is, allowing other services to use their music would give them less control of where it's shared, make organizing, updating playlists and planning feature releases take extra time through verifications and basically end up being a paid thing for something they didn't really own. So instead Nintendo decided to put it as a bonus feature on their most basic level, meaning it would barely get them any extra earnings, so what's there to complain about?
I actually tested out the app last night in my sleep. I listen to the wii music channel on repeat. its honestly such a fun vibe. Different then my usual videogame soundtracks i listen to like the myst soundtrack. But still overall amazing experience. 8/10 from me. Well done Nintendo.
I like how Nintendo Music allows fans to officially support the great Nintendo soundtracks that fans themselves have uploaded and extended in RU-vid over the years with the only intent of sharing great music with other fans to enjoy. Looking forward to an expanded selection of music in the future, there's much more music that can be added to the library. Also, Super Mario Bros. OST is still among the most iconic video game music of all time, Super Mario Galaxy's OST is still a masterpiece, and Going shopping with the Wii Shop Channel music is something else lol
I need a whole shopping playlist just consisting of Nintendo music. Coconut Mall, Trip to Alivel Mall, Rainbow Galleria, Wii Shop Channel, every single eShop theme, Nook's Cranny, Apparel Shop, Mushroom Shop, Miitomo Shop, Ocarina of Time Shop, Rogueport Shop and many more (seriously, how many Shopping themes are there?).
It's exclusive to NSO members, anyway. Also, if you want to enjoy Nintendo tracks with ads on RU-vid, have fun unless you have YT Premium (which you have to pay for) or an ad blocker, assuming RU-vid hasn't found a means to address people who use RU-vid with an ad blocker, you're still paying to listen to music either way. Listening to anything for "free" on RU-vid hasn't been a thing since Google bought the platform in 2012.
I was gonna complain about Nintendo gatekeeping their music behind an app but I spent the last couple of hours listening to Steam Gardens from Super Mario Galaxy and completely forgot.
I'm betting $100 there WILL be a menu theme in the next Nintendo console. They are fully aware how great the wii music is so there's no reason why they wouldn't
Just got the app and so far I'm loving it. Im looking forward to more content. Just hope they add some sort of pc integration if the app gets popular enough. Would love to hear my fav nintendo tracks while working on stuff
This me already almost every day. I have playlist with 37 hours worth of my favourite game soundtracks. 😊 Especially great for bike rides through nature!
They should make a function where the music changes based on where you are or how you travel. Shopping music (wii shop, zelda shopping music etc) when you are in a store. Travel/adventure music when you are in a car/bus/train, country side/forrst music when hiking etc. And of course boss battle music when you are at work ;)
Fu**ing turn up that up. I love that groovin, what is that? Like a bossa nova beat? Makes me wanna just... croon it. Everybody knows about the Wii Shopping Channel and everyone love to shop there every Wednesday.
