This game deserves this and more. It was a SNES game with slightly randomized mansion layout, different endings and random events that could scare the crap out of you. But most of all, the suspense because you rarely had the tools to defend yourself.
Honestly, qnd this is coming from someone who hates horror games, this may just be one of the best games I ever played. But man does it freak the heck out of me when I play!!!!
One of the first survival horror games ever made. I can imagine the novelty at the time, a game where you play as someone weak and defenseless as something terrifying and invincible chases you the whole game.
"It happened in September..." "Kinda missed opportunity. You know the spooky month was just one month away." [Game releases in October] "OH THAT'S THE ONE!" - Jontron
@@sleepygeekyandreadytodream...y hey a lot of us became fans of it because of the jontron video lol. I didn't have access to the original or grow up with any playstation stuff so clock tower was foreign to me though I'd heard of it. this comment reads as kinda gatekeepy
You're right, OP. This is a good opportunity to remind everyone that Jontron is a white supremacist & a racist. Jontron has not apologize for saying that black people are genetically more prone to commit crimes. He doubled down in spreading white supremacist conspiracies such as the "replacement theory" that claims that Jews want to replace white people with lesser races. Jontron falsely claimed that Mexican Americans in the US have a hidden agenda where they're trying to regain all of Mexico's lost territories that are now part of the US. Again, Jontron has NOT apologize or taken back his racist views. Instead he has said that people with such racist views shouldn't face any backlash for promoting hate speech. Again... Thank you OP for giving us this opportunity to remind people that Jontron is a racist Which explains why his career outside of YT is MIA.
@RaccoonFoot I am only passingly aware of his controversies because I do not use social media if I can avoid it. If it's not a video posted to his channel publicly, I likely don't know it. That said, I was under the impression that after he appeared on h3h3, the internet collectively forgave JonTron and gave him another chance. That said, we're allowed to separate art from artist and just reference the funny lines and jokes from the video and the character of Jontron without connecting it back to the man himself as he may be when his videos stop recording.
@@RaccoonFoot there are plenty of celebrities, plenty of social media personalities and stars out there. Do I care who they are or who they are voting for? Nope They made funny content, good movies and or shows. Who they are as a person? Couldn’t care less.
I saw a Jontron video of the classic first game. I'm glad its coming out of Japan and into the west! (Now the ps1 version needs a remake or a remaster for both consoles)

For those who are wondering this isn't a straight port of the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) rather is based on the port of the PSX (Playstation 1) Clock Tower: The First Fear, via (Japanese Exclusive) which added new locations for Scissorman to show up, to some new jumpscares, a animated opening, a scene explaining the events for Clock Tower 2 (Our Clock Tower 1) and lastly CD Audio (Same Original Soundtrack). But in all fairness, seeing this come officially in the West is pretty darn awesome! I know that not only myself but countless others want to see Clock Tower 1-3 to come out with the "Rewind" or "Remastered/Remake" treatment! This, "Clock Tower," canonically was the first in the series. As the West only received Clock Tower and Clock Tower 2 on PSX (Playstation 1) and Clock Tower 3 on PS2 (Playstation 2). But to clarify any confusion this Clock Tower was originally released in Japan as Clock Tower on the Super Famicom (Super Nintendo) then later as Clock Tower: The First Fear on the PSX (Playstation 1) which this one is based off of but to make things more confusing. Our Clock Tower 1 is actually Clock Tower 2 in Japan, and our Clock Tower 2 in Japan is Clock Tower: Ghost Head. And lastly Clock Tower 3 was the same in both in the West and Japan but the strange part is our Clock Tower 2 and 3 have nothing to do with this story or the events of Clock Tower 1 in the West... So you could see this game as a prequel story for the first game we got. But it really should have been called Clock Tower: First Fear Rewind, so there's no confusion by anyone in the West! In addition to my previous comment, this is what I learned so far of this, re-release official localization. So basically, this re-release is based on the updated version that added features from the PSX (Playstation) port, The First Fear, and some cut content that appeared in that version of that port. Also, those cut features were added back from a rom hack for Super Famicom (SNES) that existed for a little while. Sure, you could argue that dubed motion comic panels are neat, but that came included with the PSX port in normal paper format. Sure, it isn't animated or even in English, but still there. Also, making essential two different versions, one resembles the original Clock Tower on SFC, but the second "Rewind" version is essentially The First Fear port on the PSX with the extra "Cut Content" placed back into the SFC game? I'm sorry, but adding a new Rewind function is neat for a new players to experience this overlooked cult classic game and finally has an officially localization in different languages after for so long but relying on it kinda defeats the purpose of a game to be the Godfather of Survival Horror which I know Sweet Home on the Famicom (Nintendo Entertainment System) actually predates this game in horror. At least you have some interesting new stuff like behind the scenes, interviews, a music player, box scans of the original game and etc. Hopefully that the Bandai WonderSwan, the Windows 95, and PSX ports have the boxart and manual scans like the original SFC one featured in a new video. It would be definitely awesome to see the WonderSwan port added in this as that would definitely be an awesome bonus or even a very cool secret unlockable. End of the day I'm not hating on this Offical Localization of the gane as I reserved my physical copy through Limited Run Games and I will be happy to play this again and see what all is new but please don't hate me I'm just stating on what I see and it won't change my mind as this game is still a cult classic and I truly hope we see ports of Clock Tower (Clock Tower 2 in JP) and Clock Tower 2 (Clock Tower: Ghost Head in JP) come out too! Kinda wish this re-release had the name of Clock Tower: First Fear Rewind to make it less confusing to everyone remembering the original Clock Tower on the PSX that we received in the West!!
As someone considering buying this, I found this comment very informative and helpful on that front! I've wanted to get an official release of this on something, so seeing it on the Switch was cool, especially knowing all that 👍✨️
@spaceycase777 Of course, I'm a fan of the original game, and I am always happy to help others who are totally unsure about this re-release official localization in the West for the first time! Best of luck of escaping from Marry and her two sons, Bobby and Dan!
90% of these are JonTron memes. Maybe if we can combine our efforts, we can get him to review the other Clock Tower games and defeat the evil Skeleton with a Gun once and for all.
the two comments above me is false, just saying I didn't know about the 2017 controversy until I just looked it up. I mean I can get why some people are mad, I'm not defending him, but at the same time I watch RU-vidrs like Nogla and VanossGaming and these guys go all out with their jokes and everyone who watches knows they're not racists bad people
@@elannn I don't mind purposely offensive humor when it's done right. I myself watch a lot of Smii7y videos. The thing with Jon is, he didn't get in trouble over jokes.
I happy stimmed when I saw this! I've never been this excited for a game to be released! Clock Tower is easily my favorite survival horror game of all time, and it's finally in america! I really hope we see a clock tower sequel soon!
