@@JdTheGreat16 On this show it was “Kool,” I was shocked she was right. I called Nintendo back then in 89 and they said it was Mario-Mulcher. Not sure if that was cannon or something they made up on the phone line.
I remember seeing something about this show years ago. It may have been a YTP or something. Either way, I'm glad that someone is acknowledging this masterpiece of a show.
holy shit, it’s about time people talked about this show. my mother, being a mario fan actually told me about this show when i was watching the super mario bros super show when i was 6. i never seen an episode but only been heard about it by my mom. i wish people to find more episodes, i’d like to show my mom to remember about it.
Lived in Southern California and watched this show every day after school in '89. Not because I liked the show, but I was waiting for super Mario bros super show. Friday's were the best since those were the days that the legend of Zelda cartoon were aired.
Not only have I seen a full episode of King Koopa’s Kool Kartoons, I saw EVERY episode. I grew up in Southern California and this was on Fox. I remember it distinctly. I recorded most, if not all of the episodes. Unfortunately, once I joined the Marines at 18, my mom tossed all of my tapes. So as much as I’d love to be the Lost Media community’s savior on KKKK, I unfortunately cannot
Yet another dreaded tale of mothers throwing away their son's belongings without any thought in the world. Though this one has to be one of the worst ones I've seen yet. If she didn't do this, we would have had this show archived by now. Parents should really be more thoughtful about their son/daughter's belongings lol.
My LA/So Cal childhood memory is a blur, but I think the King Koopa’s Kool Kartoons show might have been where I first saw stuff like the classic 1932 Betty Boop “Minnie the Moocher” cartoon featuring Cab Calloway… anyone remember something like that?
You know you wont believe this but I actually watched this show, probably from the beginning. When you were saying that Disney git offended by this show and Michael Eisner complained I think I know why. The Mario Brother cartoons and King Koppa were on channel 11. at the time they were showing Duck Tales. Disney bought channel 9 so they took Duck Tales off channel 11. I don't think 11 took this too lightly because in an episode of King Koopa, He gave a farewell to Ducktails by having a duck dinner showing the threes nephews represented by three roast chickens with plastic duck heads. It was really weird and I had never seen anybody do anything like that and I think it got Disney mad.
I lived in encinitas California, during the season that this show played. And, despite what you may say about it, I watched it every day! King Koopas Kool Kartoons was freakin awesome!! Sik
It seems I have found an incredibly underrated youtuber Edit: Oh wait I didn't recognise you as the person who made the June archive and flipnote iceberg videos I saw those before
I'll be looking forward to seeing more of this. Is it really as bad as people make it out to be? Even the footage online doesn't seem that far from the level of Super Show's live-action segments.
@@GloryYoshi2020-TheBritishMF Gosh, since I left that comment eps of Club Mario and Korean Super Show were recovered, but there has been no major update on King Koopa's Kool Kartoons...
Growing up in Southern California, I didn’t realize we were the only kids to watch this. Now I feel a little special. lol. I also would have fit the age they wanted in the audience at the time. Man. Great memories.
I unironically love the show for a lot of reasons, and I feel it's shortcomings add to it in terms of humor. Maybe it's because I'm a Vinesauce fan and also enjoy the memes that spawned from the show? Or because I grew up watching the DVDs?
I feel like King Koopa was just ahead of his time. He kinds gives me a filthy frank vibe If he re-emerged now and got rid of the live audience stuff he would probably have like 1 million subs.
My old cousin Ricard, said he was one of the kids the show but, since this is lost media saldy we have no footage of him, at least he has a story to tell me about him in the show!
I just uploaded a longlost segment of the Koopa show, we have a bunch on beta that we're digitizing and uploading - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ppscBQvrT_U.html - we also uploaded the infamous "What're you from Biafra?!" clip - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-MAuE3YLEbCY.html
Also this is kinda embarrassing to admit but when I was younger whenever my parents would take me to blockbuster I always picked something relating to the super Mario bros super show and I somehow thought that was really good
I was a koopa troopa. I was invited because i was part of the fox kids club. I remember the shirt didn't fit me cause i was a chubby kid. I dont remember getting a tape
I think this probably would've been better if it was like Club Mario where it was just a temporary replacement of the live-action segments of the Super Show
About lore, it's only partially true, games like SMB or STH actually had a lores, and by times, a very deep ones, but due to lack of user guides, or their poor translation, there come to rise things like "Sonic Bible", describing things that noncanonic in Japan ("It's EGGMAN, kid, I DARE you call me otherwise!")). Therefore, it's all because of mistranslation difficulties.
same for the most part. I only knew of the Super Show, The adventures of SMB3, and the SMW cartoons. (Also the three Sonic cartoons, the Legend of Zelda cartoon, the Megaman cartoon, the Donkey Kong Country cartoon, Captain N, and even though these are technically Anime, Kirby right back at ya and Sonic X.). It wasn't until more recently when I watched a documentary about the Donkey Kong Country games that I learned about that old Arcade Donkey Kong cartoon. Most of the Mario shows mentioned in this video are completely new to me!
We may never know the true reason (I doubt the fan mail incident caused it to be cancelled, and I doube ThomasGameDocs was right about Disney being responsible for its cancellation by scolding the Fox station manager at the time for it).
I grew up in Southern California when the show was aired, and I do remember having watched full episodes when I was a kid. All of them, probably. It's only recently, seeing this and the video Blameitonjorge did, when I realized that not only was this lost media, but it wasn't broadcast nation-wide. I had no idea I was part of a relatively local test audience until maybe two weeks ago. I really, really wish I had thought of recording it, but even if I did, I don't have a single VHS tape left. And as you said, it was something that even at the time, most wouldn't have thought of recording. I was 10 and even then, I knew I was watching pure cringe.
Do you think that possibly Either 20th century television(which is what Fox television studios turned into) or wildbrain (which dic entertainment was bought by) since they own the copyright? Do you think they might have it in their archives?
I totally remember watching all of these as a kid. Whenever I’ve mentioned the Koopa show, nobody ever knew what I was talking about! Glad to know that it wasn’t a fever dream!
(imitated Willy Wonka): The whole classic and modern TV media programs on the whole classic and modern channels. I want you to bring them all. (to myself): But Jimmy, don't forget what happened to the TV owners who suddenly got everything they always wanted. They all lived happily ever after.
While I unfortunately don't have any recordings of any of it, I do very clearly remember that this was one of the cartoons they showed, for what it's worth. ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-CKDjK_88Yek.html
Fact: When this show was on, Bowser already looked like this on SMB3 in Japan at the time-- www.superluigibros.com/images/media/artwork/nes/super_mario_bros3/large/Bosses/Bowser.png
