May be they don't want to look political? There's No normal blue as well. Or green. Nice safe colors. Today j-urinalists are looking for controversy. I already see the the headline- "New switch maches MAGA-hats". Or they decided to use only colors on which it's hard to spot dirt? I own a red car and it always look dirty.
@@lum1notryc828 I think that's based on the info for how long it lasted on Breath of the Wild. On the regular Switch it said it lasts for 3 hours, while on the Lite it says it lasted for 4 hours. Hence, a 33% increase. I assume some games will have different levels of battery life increase on the Lite so that's probably why the range is still as it is
to be Fair.... i didnt use the 3d function of the 3ds anyway.... i would have actually gotten the new 2ds xl if that came out.... 3d function hurts my eyes XP
I bet the Switch Pro will come out the same day as botw sequel since the Nintendo Switch came out the same day as botw and the Switch Lite is coming out the same day as Link’s Awakening remake.
It's just a gutted switch so that they can sell it to you cheaper. That's all it is. It's not suppose to be superior, you're spending 2/3 the money of a switch to get it. Clearly we are expecting more from a cheaper product.
But it's not... switch is already a handheld. The switch is a hybrid. It's in the concept of the name. The switch lite doesn't switch... it's just a cheaper version of the switch. Yes, some people just want portable, but you can have that option with the switch. There needed to be something to truly set it apart as a superior handheld unit and the D pad and 30 minute liner battery life is all they got. They cut down everything else to drop the price to 200. It's not a replacement for handheld 3ds. The Switch already did that.
Shawn Kangiser you’re absolutely right. I guess the lite then is for people who don’t care about playing games on a tv and didn’t get the switch cause they were holding out for a new handheld. I guess I just can’t get mad at Nintendo.
The only reason I would be upset is if they released a version of the switch that is just slightly better, completely undermining the people who bought the original, especially recently. The next better Switch I want to be the next console generation and it be called switch 2. Nintendo has found their console design and all I want is a significant upgrade to it when it is time. Better cartridge port for bigger games with an adapter you can buy to play the smaller switch games, option to download the physical game to the hardware for digital use. And complete backward comparability, including playing old games with the OG switch. Basically, switch "Pro" but so pro it's 2.0
@@brendaajamu7152 I overestimate nothing. It's a portable system and that makes it more expensive. $600 is a reasonable sum for a Switch pro with a oled screen, therefore I don't want a oled screen I rather have a cheaper pro.
The way I see it, if you already have a Switch there is no point in getting this. It's just a cheaper option for those who may not have a Switch yet and would prefer handheld anyway
I still don't have a Switch, but I legitimately think I want this more than the base model. Sure this can't connect to the TV and no detachable controllers, but has a an actual D-pad, is strictly handheld, lighter, small enough to fit in a pocket most likely and a hundred bucks cheaper. I legit think I want the Switch Lite more than the base Switch.
Update that I should've done back in October 2020: Picked up a Switch Lite finally. After a little over a year I can confirm I definitely love it more than the flagship Switch. Easier to carry around, looks better with the fun colors (I got Teal), screen is fine, and after holding both a Switch and a Switch Lite, I VERY much prefer the Lite. Also the Lite confirmed for me that somewhere in the back of my head, I've always preceded handheld over console. Traded my PS2 for a DS, got a 3DS in 2018 before really considering saving for a Switch, I want a GBASP instead of a GameCube, and of course picking a Lite over a Switch when I could've easily waiting just two more days for payday and a flagship Switch.
How symbolic that Links Awakening releases at the same time as the Switch Lite as Breath of the Wild did with the original model. I smell a bundle coming up if not sooner then later.
Eh....kind of reminds me of the og Gameboy. Or for more recent, like the 2ds. A downgraded, but more sturdy version of the 3ds. I honestly don't even use the switch on my TV, so if I didn't already own the switch, I would get the lite.
Perfect "Gift size" for my 4-year-old nephew. The lower price makes it an easy purchase for the majority mobile crowd and just in time for Pokémon. Won't be my main but great supplemental. Hopefully it portends more handheld console port, remakes, and a bigger mobile retro library.
I for some reason want one of these although I already have a regular switch. I think the more sturdy design is what’s reeling me in, and I have 2 sets of joycons, so games needing HD Rumble or the IR Sensor won’t be a problem for me.
feel disappointed tbh, like.. what even is this? A more portable version of a switch? Like come on, this will NOT be the success they'd wish for. Also it feels weird to see nintendo related stuff without Desmond :(
I bought the 2ds back in the day specifically because it was cheaper. I didn't mind sacrificing the flip phone style or the 3D, so it was worth it. I think at the time I was able to buy a brand new 2ds and a new copy of Pokemon y for the same price as 1 3ds. In this case, you could buy a brand new switch lite and almost 2 new games for the price of 1 switch.
it's $100 cheaper than the switch. The color is cool but that's not really an excuse since there's cases and skins for that and 1 more hour of battery life is not worth it.. It's basically a DS handheld console. Also.. THE SWITCH IS ALREADY A DAMN HANDHELD CONSOLE AM I MISSING SOMETHING??
This cheaper model is more meant for people that already own a ps4, Xbox or PC but they want a switch purely just for fire emblem or animal crossing, they can just buy the cheaper model for that purpose for just 200 instead of spending 300, plus it'd be great for kids as well
Technically, those are already out, but they're third-party and can only be used in handheld mode. I'm guessing you want a full-function Joy-con with a D-Pad.
I think it's a missed opportunity that they didn't design them. the yellow one would have made a good Pikachu design. And I agree where the hell is the red?
God damn it Battler/Tom/Zucc what are you even talking about dude, Alll I said I’ll wait for pro, you go waste your money on a degraded switch if you want
I would have never expected that the switch would have a different kind of handheld controller. Plus my friends literally recommended that I should get this baby if I wanted to get a switch. Also, it's been a while since I've seen your videos, keep it up HMK!! ☺️☺️
I'm on the fence . It's a hard sell considering the price. Definitely curious to catch everyone online do hands-on reviews + not in a rush because there's so many games coming out this fall between the consoles $$
It's weird they made this considering the main switch is ALREADY a handheld! I usually only carry my Switch to family get togethers. I might get one just to have a back-up to carry around more often, but It's not a day one must have. Maybe closer to Christmas time?
Nintendo Switch Lite Battery life is between 3 to 7 hrs for example you can play Zelda Breath Of Wild for 4 hrs and the original Switch battery 🔋 is between 2.5 to 6.5 hrs and 3 hrs Zelda Gameplay
I brought the nintendo switch lite. After playing ps3 for a long time, I finally step up my A-Game and got this for Christmas along with limited edition of Super Mario 3D all-Stars. It's worth it.
Well remember Switch Lite rumor was with the Switch Pro rumor and last I heard is Switch Pro has been pushed back to next year. This means E3 next year I’m sure. I feel it’s good for people who are coming in from the 3DS but I feel it’s better to just fork out that extra 100 bucks for the Original. All the Switch Lite will do is get the people who get this to spend another 300 bucks for the original on top of the 200 they spent on the Lite
This is looking like it's just for the casual crowd who were interested in a switch but didn't want to spend the 300 for it. Yeah the battery life is still pretty low, but the only way they could have really improved that would've been with a bigger battery (which defeats the purpose of the compact size) and greatly reducing the quality of the games. That 3-7 hours won't really affect those who only play for about 1-2 hours at a time, here and there. No point in getting it if you already have a switch, it's not really for us. Like he said, it's always better to have options.
I would say OG as the lite doesn't have as many features and there will be some games it can't play due to not being able to change controllers. One game for example is the Lite can not play mario party and I don't know if you can connect to someone playing the OG switch through wifi to play games. As it looks like you have to have another lite which would be 400 dollars or more just to do couch co-op. The OG switch is going to be more future proof, if you don't have a tv right now but in the future you do. Plus bigger screen and everything helps overall if you are playing something like splatoon. The lite might be more durable and smaller, good for on the go but the normal switch is still easily pack-able and light so up to you. But you lose a lot of choices when it comes to the lite, such as why they switch was called the switch in the first place. 100 more dollars for more features access to all games and being able to do couch co-op just by having extra controllers is much better in the end anyways. Plus less expensive than having to a buy a whole another console just to play with someone.
I have basically the exact same reaction and thoughts as you on this! First of all, I also have a Red Switch and I love it and care for it more than I should haha. I get super overprotective about it ESPECIALLY when I have it outside. I really wanna get a Lite because it’ll be easier and more comfortable for me to take out and about but I’m not super sure just yet. The trade-offs are okay I suppose, I just wish there was a red variant! xD Maybe if they make an Animal Crossing edition for New Horizons I’ll get one but otherwise I’ll have to reeaallly think about it haha.
$199 is a pretty big steal considering its specs aren't changing, and they've stated they're upgrading the processor to something more efficient. You're basically getting a pure HD handheld that's at a lower price than the Vita was and at the same price of a 3DS XL.
Personally, I'm not getting a Lite version. 1) I'm extremely near-sighted; I NEED THE TV SCREEN TO SEE THE GAMES MOST OF THE TIME! 2) Really don't see the point of getting a console with less features than the one I've already got. It might make a good Christmas gift for a friend though.
Thanks for been honest instead of the fan boy i has been a fan of Nintendo since 1988 but this product is over price. The other thing is that they mention is handheld only so no 1-2 switch, but what about Pokemon go witch is a 10mil plus seller? or Mario Party? or a bigger screen since it has big vessels or maybe just added a head tracking so you could use motion control for again Pokemon Let's Go
@@brendaajamu7152 so you say not gonna talk about grammar because you dont know were I'm from but end with a lol, okay.... and Pokemon Let's Go motion control is part of the experience and Mario part is a table top game with the like semi support.
My Nintendo switch was stolen, and I’ve been waiting to buy a replacement due to financial reasons. Should I buy a regular switch? Nintendo Switch lite or wait until the alleged Nintendo Switch Pro comes out? Opinions? Thank you!🙏🏼 much love, and really want people’s opinions!
This cheaper model is more meant for people that already own a ps4, Xbox or PC but they want a switch purely just for fire emblem or animal crossing, they can just buy the cheaper model for that purpose for just 200 instead of spending 300, plus it'd be great for kids as well
I mean, for people who may not have a Switch yet, but are interested in getting one eventually, (like my dad) it’s good to have options. After all, if you’re say... on the go a lot because of your job or whatever, the features they removed were pretty much useless to you in the first place, so why pay more for what you won’t use? They may not be trying to sell it to people who already have a switch.
Seems like a good alternative for handheld gamers who don't have a Switch already. I'm with you though. Already got mine and am loving it, so no reason to get another.
@@collinbtw It is the truth, it is the reason most modern smartphone do not have as good battery life compared to the ones of the past. That is why there is a big push for a new type of battery. The only thing Nintendo could have done is install a bigger battery, but they didn't do that.
Honestly I've never had issues with my battery life on my existing one, so this already trumps that. I am going to pick it up because i primarily play in handheld mode anyway. I just won't get it at launch. I refuse to stay in line for another Nintendo product because their artificial supply/ demand creation issue. They create those issues because they want to be remembered. Hopefully this time will be different in which they will have enough, but that would be pushing it.
I can still go on Ebay and buy a replacement system for about 150$ and wait to buy an extra set of Joy-Cons for the Pokemon versions. I got a question though where can I find quality skins guys? 🤔
I'm honestly disappointed, however I didn't expect myself to purchase a product inferior to the original anyway. It's important to note (If the rumors are true): Nintendo Switch + BOTW - March 3, 2017 Nintendo Switch Lite + LTTP - September 20, 2019 Nintendo Switch Pro + BOTW2 - November 20, 2020 Just save your rupees
It’s obvious that they pretty much killed off the 3DS and the Switch Lite is the new flagship handheld system. That’s how I’m looking at it. For 3DS users/fans who weren’t interested in getting a switch for whatever reason, now they can get the Lite to replace their 3DS. It’s clear that this is the new future direction Nintendo is taking with their hardware. The switch is their future, plain and simple.
I'll probably get it since I don't already have a switch and I really wanna get into Nintendo games. My only question is will the Lite use physical copies or is it strictly digital?
At 5:30 along the top of the Lite it looks like the cover for the game cartridge slot. The switch.nintendo.com website might confirm that it can play physical games. I don't see why it wouldn't be able to.
its the same hardware, the only reason the battery is any more than before is because the battery isn't being used for the extra stuff they removed. All it is is a cheaper switch with a real d-pad, for people who don't want to spend 300
Ok, I asked cuz a few times I looked around to replace my right joy con but many of the newer good looking cons (HORI included) are designed to not have amiibo functions/compatibility which actually pissed me off! So thanks for letting me know that the newer switch lite will still have amiibo functions ✌⭐🌟😇😂👌👍
I wouldn't mind a switch lite since I still don't have one, but between both the OG and Lite I preffer the OG, but if you want a Switch but you don't want to spend 300$ and don't think you would play on TV mode then the Switch Lite is perfect, I personlay don't mind as long as I get a Switch and get to play all the games available.
I think I'm gonna get a switch minicoz the joycons wont be as flimsy and delicate on my normal switch the joycons wiggle while I play which is annoying
And to think that mr.Koizumi was the first to proudly present the Joy Cons unique features in Switch Presentation January 2017, only to present a non Joy Con Switch in July 2019. This also states that Metroid Prime 4 and other games WON'T feature motion controls. Not mentioning a Skyward Sword Switch version. Nintendo just switched off the Switch.. This is for teenagers. I will buy either an original Switch or an enchanced one, this time called "New Switch", like the "New 3DS".
Pretty sure the switch lite is going to be mostly for kids. Lower price point, looks a lot more durable, etc. Parents who don't want to drop the extra 100 are going to be happy. I'm getting one for sure. I play mostly in handheld unless it's a game like botw or a few others.
As one youtuber that I watch said: It lost all it purpose and should not be even called a switch lite, because there’s no functions that make it a switch console, its the largest modern portable console and why on earth are you not able to connect it to your TV? Nintendo clearly missed the mark with this one.
