I think so too, there are many ways to interpret it. A switch in playstyle, a switch between handheld and console, a switch to nintendo. A switch in philosophy from nintendo. Overall I'm OK with the name. Honestly anything would have been fine as long as it wasn't another "Wii"

I hope it doesn't replace the 3ds for a long while but if the switch can do the job of 3ds games of having two different screens in console mode and switchable screens during portable mode, then I'm happy. Also by the look of it with all the Wii U ports it will definitely replace the Wii U.
Tim Perry re watch it. The appeal is three fold. One u aren't limited to just the old Nintendo niche market anymore and the fact that we saw Skyrim and the NBA game proves that. U will be seeing a much larger range of games and u could see a huge library of games. 2) u have the ability to take any of those game on the go, anywhere u want, to play which is huge. Its ease of use meets verity and so far seems to marry together nicely. 3) If this can play the likes of Skyrim and such then this is not a weak system spec wise at all. Now it may not be as powerful as the PS4 but honestly that really doesn't matter at this point. A lot of older art styles cold come back and look way better and when u add in the mobility factor into that of playing any of those games anywhere its amazing
I don't see Nintendo taking any market share from MS or Sony... I will most likely enjoy some father daughter gaming with this... I'm curious on Nintendo's support of its own system...Heck they quickly dumped the Wii U after 3 years...
Nintendo Switch is actually a great name for the system. It perfectly sums up what you're getting when you buy one. So glad they finally dropped that damn "Wii" name.

?Mystical Universe? Well, it's just been confirmed. It's got arenas, finally, though. Also, two old items returned, the feather seems more useful now. There's a double item chance, too. Assisted steerring is now available, it's only optional (I want to see how that works in 200cc) I don't care much about new characters or new cars/wheels/wings, for they do not change the playing experience. I hope it has at least two new cups with a couple of brand new tracks and more remastered classic ones. That and the fact of having MK 8 on the go + multiplayer on the go, too running at 1080 / 60 fps all the tine now, is more than enough to get my hands on it.
The Switch is pretty much what everyone expected. A portable unit with a dock. The only plus I see for this type of configuration is that they will no longer try and sell the same games twice to players who wish to play certain games on a portable as well as a console.

Ether way its still not the first Splatoon running backwards compatibility. But at the very least a Splatoon plus. Now with now select-able hairstyles, new maps, and local wireless play, if it was the first Splatoon it would be the old intro without hairstyles obvs being pointed out. (hairstyles were a big request from the first game. this scene was very intentional)
Even now 3 years later, this Switch is still the best engineered console, joycon drift aside, it’s better engineered then the next gen consoles. Because it’s so user friendly to use, and works incredibly well, really well thought out system. I hope Nintendo make a Switch 2 with the exact same idea and not change the entire concept back to a home console only design for their next gen system.
I sorta get why people think NX sounded better than "switch" but you gotta rmember that we aren't the only market. I think "switch" is gonna be easier for non-gamer audience to remember/get than NX, which sorta sounds like you are gonna start prattling on the specs "yeah it uses an NX-30478.... etc"

It's very cool, but not really practical. I feel like people wouldn't use the switch feature as much as they hype it up to be. Hopefully that battery life isint bad either
Cause I have a TV. And I'm not going to bring my Switch out to the park. Whats the point if I can play at home. I can understand on vacation, but I don't go on vacation really
Actually it's perfect for me because I have to go by train for about 1 hour so when going home from work I can start playing on the train and continue on my TV as soon as I get home.

I'll get it as soon as there is a bunch of exclusives, or better versions of multiplatform games that I enjoy in its library. but i like the gimmick this time. good start. But I am not hyped yet. for today, I just want to see that red dead redemption 2 trailer now.
Launching in March could probably give them quite the good line-up. They already have quite a few developers behind them, and it seems like it'd be pretty easy to port stuff
If it works the way they are showing it. I think it would be worth it. It's like a PS4 and Vita combined. And the graphics for Skyrim didnt look bad at all. The tech is there. We will see.
I think they will probably have seperate SKUs for the handhelds as it would be incredibly hard to get the handheld market with a 400 dollar price tag I think it will be 199-250 for the handheld only, then 299-399 for both the dock and handheld.
This was exactly my reaction! Except that I was sitting on a cobblestone wall at Walt Disney World, screaming my head off while I watched.
