Nirvana - Beehive Music & Video, Seattle 1991 (AMT #1) 

I don't think I realized how much Dave locked this band in. I was watching videos of the other drummers and while I'm confident Kurt's writing was strong enough to get them up there in terms or recognition, I definitively think Dave made Nirvana listenable for a wider audience. His rhythm was locked in, almost like a drum track. His heavy attack really accentuated all of Kurt's melodic changes and back up vocals were spot on. He took everything great about Kurt's music and just made it better.

This was the day Kurt realized that he and his band was becoming famous.

I love how Krist and Dave could jam on anything poppy and make heavy. When I heard the jam after drain you, I never would've thought of Fleetwood Mac. I thought it was a metal song to start with. They speed it up, and Krist is stayin where he needed to be and made that whole thing wrk. Krist's bass playing is held in high regards with me. Novoselic should get more credit for his bass playing. Its like he could keep up and play anybody's groove.

I love Nirvana so much AND the fact that Kurt was always hitting wrong chords, falling off from the band a lot while Dave and Krist kept it tight so he could deal with his technical issues or just have awkward moments was so raw. Beautiful shit that all seemed so nonchalant and somehow graceful.

Dave Grohl was a huge addition and difference maker.

Dang they gave them no space to play let alone breath! Poor kurt had all the cameras going off in his face. I know that had to annoy him just knowing how Kurt was. No wonder after that last song he dipped out reql quick 😅 Ohhhh the price you pay to be famous and "have it all" I can't blame Kurt for wanting to quit the band towards the end there. He just never knew how talented he really was and how big they would get & so quickly.

Kurt had that shirt for years. must be his favorite.

Watching so many of these performances from the early 90's and you realize that, in fact there were still cameras at shows filming the performances. They were just camcorders or pro-video gear. And all of us Gen x-ers complain today about how "kids are just filming the shows on their phones these days and not enjoying the moment of the show". Someday likely we'll all be grateful that there is so much footage out there that is being captured today just like we are thankful about how many of these early 90's performances were captured.
