I hope you guys realize that's it's pretty difficult to play a sustaining guitar solo on trumpet considering you don't have to stop and take a breath on a guitar solo. Also Kurt started the song pretty damn fast so that also added to the difficulty. Come on people, go easy on Flea, he was also probably high but who cares. I give him mad props for playing it that well.

I used to think I'd have died happy if I could've seen nirvana live, now I know it would've had to be this one specific concert, I've never heart Kurt put so much of his soul into teen spirit live before, and seeing flea jump around on stage so stupidly is very contagious as I also would like do to so now

You people need to realise this was about trashing the song intentionally. People saying things like 'it was a bad trumpet solo' or 'jazz trumpet doesnt really work' thats the whole point. People are judging fleas solo like he didnt mean to make it bad. Thats why he plays well at the end in the background so you can hear hes actually good. But he leaves the good part out of the spotlight because the point of the performance is flea comes out of nowhere and trashes the song with a trumpet with support from the rest of the band. This was done because Smells like teen spirit was overplayed on MTV and kurt didnt like this.
