i would love to see a directors commentary of this show. it'd be cool to hear matt and jay talk about particular scenes and which people are actors etc.
jesus i think i was waiting for a high school class to start when i typed that comment anyways gimme season 3 already these dudes are so real 7:22 but my original comment still stands nick totally gets whats so good about this show and im glad he got to talk with them
Matt's big grin at how much Nick appreciates/gets the show was real nice to see. Long live NTBTS! I'm glad Nick & Polygon are helping to spread the good word some more! I've done the same thing forcing close friends to sit down and watch the original series.
Thank you for getting me onto this show. Honestly have never fucking laughed so god damn hard at a show ever. Very stoked to hear we're getting two more seasons!
I'm pretty sure what happened to make this interview was Nick finished watching the end of season 1, thought to himself "OMG I want these two to be my best friends forever" and then realized he works for a real news outlet. He can just call them up and spend 30 minutes fanboying all over the show. It's wonderful, and that why we love you Nick you soft, sweet fanboy!
My buddy and I met Matt at fan expo in Toronto last summer. These guys really make an effort to speak with their fans and get into it about the show like Polygon did on this clip. I recently went to the Rivoli for dinner and it was hilarious asking my waitress about Matt, Jay and the show. She said they're there all the time filming outside and inside. What was also really funny is Angela (my waitress) doesn't know shes been in an episode. When I ordered my pad thai I said " I'll have it spicy as hell" and she burst out laughing. I can't wait to see season 3!
Everybody here should come check out the Nirvanna the Band subreddit. For such a fantastic show, it's obscene how small the community over there is and we would love to see it grow!
The reference to the 1990 Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in 'The Blindside' was the most wonderful moment in NTBTS, and perhaps the greatest intertextual reference I've ever come across. I wept with joy and recognition.
Where was the reference? I haven't watched the episode in a couple months and can't remember it lol but I love the ninja turtles so I'm pretty upset I missed it
Not trying to be hipster but as soon as he did the Iori laugh scene I got it. I was freaking out that somebody would even reference that over the top KOF character.
Pat Hamill I imagine because that whole episode was built around their *actually* going to Sundance to premiere "Operation Avalanche", and using the same title for Matt and Jay's in-universe "Dirties" parody allowed them to use more of their Sundance shenanigans for the episode (since they could pretend people talking about the real "Avalanche" were talking about the fake one). Kinda like how they use their real names for their characters so they can repurpose out-of-character conversations for the show.
I havent seen the tv show on viceland bc i cant find it but the webseries is so good and nick's tweet with the update day clip got me into it. When i saw that u were talking about the finale in this interview i was hoping it would address the insanity of the web series finale. The thing about the 3d printed gun being a functioning gun kinda parallels something that happened in the webseries. Also like i said, I haven't seen the tv show but does Matt go blind in the tv show as well? are there a lot of parallels between the webseries and tv show?
There's a couple plot devices and jokes in the tv show from the webseries, but it is quite different. You can buy the whole season on itunes and it is 100% worth it.
Hey Darth! It's probably already been taken care of, but it just in case you haven't found it yet, the show was picked up by Viceland (US) first, then Viceland Canuck Edition, and THEN CityTV, out of Toronto. The second season will sadly not be aired in the States, but the whole first season is around on the interweb for your downloading pleasure, as is how it all started - the original web series, where this clip happens to hail from! :) Good Luck!!!
lmao George Lucas rehashing Star Wars because he wanted to cover up mistakes but just kept on making even more. That Leia clapping moment is a deep trivia reference.
