Nissan 240SX LS Swap Review - Is it The Best Swap of All?

To each his own, but I can tell there's going to be an onslaught of LS haters soon. Pretty mad swap tho, If you just want to go pure Bang for Buck, LS swaps are the way to go.

To everyone talking about how "The LS motor is junk" "2Jz and RB make more power" blah blah blah. I have a 2JZGTE swapped IS300. This isn't opinion, it's fact. The LS motor makes more power, is lighter, generally costs the same etc. That's why these swaps are so common in racecars. Dollar per horsepower and ease of doing it wins races, not internet opinions about what's cooler. LS Cars are the fastest cars per dollar spent.

Sometimes I miss the simplicity of having an LS in my drift car, but as soon as that wastegate opens on the 2JZ I forget all about it :)

All LS motors should have come from the factory with the intake manifold painted like the American flag. Awesome!

The car culture is growing into a toxic place. While people like David here preach of how accepting it is. Thats bullshit cause if you listen to the internet 500hp is slow Ls motor swaps are boring and over done 1000hp supra is the only car you have fun in Mustangs kill every crowd Civics are all shit Turbo or no go Or the most famous phrase most car guys get is "If it was mine i would do..." Or "Why would you do that?" Really getting annoyed at how the scene is turning into what it is

People talking about the LS being heavier, it being unreliable, it being a "pork of an engine". Please, if you have no knowledge on engines, don't comment. And here are my two cents: in the USM we got the 240sx (all generations) with the KA, which to nobody's surprise is just a slug. And I hope you know, if you're commenting in this video, that the KA is pretty much a revised truck engine. Now the LS is the most reliable, hassle-free (for the most part), engine swap you could do to the 240sx. Or even in general to be quite honest. Keeps the weight distribution pretty close to stock, as it does not weight much more than a KA. Now I don't belive "LS swapping" should be the answer to it all. I don't belive an s2000 should be LS swapped when the F20/22 are more than capable. But again, just my thoughts in the situation.

I LS swapped my C6 Corvette and it turned out AWESOME! It had some crappy 427 ci motor in it, but I found an LS2 engine and put that in it. It's almost as if it was made for the car, it was so easy! Anyone know where I can find some cheap CTS-V brakes for it?

LS-swaps are practical only in the US, because LS's were put in pretty much everything. In Europe you either can't find an LS motor or the cost an arm and a leg to buy. Plus parts are also as expensive if not more than SR20 or RB parts. Europe also has much more strict modification laws. For example in Germany (where I live) you can't put any parts on your car, if they don't have the propper certification. If you do and get caught, your car gets impounded and you have to take it back to stock or at least to a level approved by the governing body, before you can register it again.

Great review. Seein these cars with ls swaps kinda want to do that to my 86 If anything were to happen to the engine.

CTS-V brakes, cheap, powerful and reliable engine, wide tires, and an awesome chassis. I see no problems here.

It's hilarious watching everybody complain about the LS, you guys need to grow up.

The LS swap is what ruined it. Not the fender flares $50 paint job the ugly spoiler and stripping the interior. None of that. It's the engine that ruined what was an all original nice one owner 240sx. You should put a BMW engine in it because that doesn't ruin the car and fits my narrow view of what's cool and acceptable. Also please take the CTSV brakes off because those American brakes ruin the car as well. Please only use JDM parts imported from Japan for exorbitant prices. So what? Build your car your way. Once you stay up late turning wrenches or waiting all day for the UPS man to deliver your parts you know how hard and frustrating it can be. Our hobby is expensive and time consuming. It aint easy but its so rewarding to finally get your car built the way you want it. All those hours and dollars add up to something you cant buy. It's like Christmas morning every time you drive your car. Its such an amazing feeling once you put in that work and you go "Holy crap I built this". It's wrong to dismiss someones hard work and dedication just cause the car doesn't fit your expectations. It's no supposed to fit your expectations. How's the fuel economy with an average LS1 ? I know that if you're swapping to an LS, fuel economy prooooobably isn't your main concern, but as someone who's considering daily'ing an LS swapped 240.

Although my dream 240SX would have an SR20, I've got respect for this LS Swapped car. Is an LS swap common? Yes. There's a reason for that: the LS is a great motor. I'll admit it: my dream garage would have both a Corvette and 240SX. I'm a wee bit biased.

LS swap into a JDM is perfection for speed and power cuz their original motor cant handle the pressure of having a lot of power I wont mind if i got engine transplant since i was design to handle a maximum of 500hp only :)

Common knowledge here but, GM over engineered the LS platforms for swaps like this, along with multiple other GM parts. Notice the tremec trans and brakes. Both very common for 240 swaps. American brings the best out of imports! Personally I'd love to do a build like this.

LS swaps are okay in 240sx's 240's came in America. However it's NOT okay to LS swap a 180sx or 200sx. That's my view on it.

I agree it definitely is a great swap. The sound, feeling and simple fact of performance per dollar are just do damn good to pass up. Spot on agree with the notion that it drives like a lightened xtreme corvette. Having driven many fbodies and corvettes and owning an s14, I think its accurate.

If it weights the same or roughly the same as the old engine doing more horsepower then it's a good swap, that's my rule.

LS engines weigh 425lbs vs a 2JZ-gte that weighs 600lbs also the LS is shorter length and hight wise so the weight is farther back and lower. Plus its hard to knock a cheap engine that only needs a $500 cam to make 450hp-500hp'ish. And they rev high for a big v8 7,000rpm easy w/cam.

Ls swaps are super practical but I personally wouldn't do this in a japanese car, it's like a American trying to act japanese or vice versa. But to each there own.

I doubt it if it does I'd like to meet you in my 73 Ranchero with a stock 351 Cleveland that hits too sick 165 miles an hour and see what what happens with the race. I like it had roller rockers and a cam but other than that it was stock but I still believe I could blow you rice burner away I don't care how loud your exhaust is how loud exhaust doesn't make a fast car.

That rear wing creates way more drag than downforce. It's so fucking rice hahaha
