We wanted to improve our "factory style" intake on our Nissan 350Z. We started with a K&N replacement filter and EVO-R cold air intake duct and throttle body spacer. To finish off our intake system we install Mishimoto's Induction Hose to smooth our the intake track and help avoid heat soak.
Mishimoto induction hoses are made out of layered silicone and have ribs made from steel rings to help them maintain shape when the engine is creating vacuum.

This is my first time seeing the mishimoto tube being used. Very practical design that has many threaded layers will help heat soak. So there was No need to do a relearn. The air flows much smoother I bet.

Ya hopefully a bit of a sleeper. I found rebuilt 370Z brakes bare metal. I'll just throw clear on them so people have a harder time realizing I'm upgraded. Oil cooler first. Going to do Bilsteins and an LSD next year as well and probably put on the dyno to check everything.

I love this set up . I live in Southern California and I had to smog the car this year , but before I do I get it fully serviced. and before I got my 04’ Nissan 350z serviced . I replaced my custom air intake set up. Bought the Mishimoto intake tube and a drop in K&N air filter. and it has a nice throttle response. I put back the stock exhaust set up last year. and the car sounds nice , not too loud , runs smooth and . I passed smog with the Mishimoto tube and stock air box with the K&N filter. with flying colors even the visual inspection. I didn’t need carb sticker because of the stock box. and the car has a nice sound to it. Not obnoxious, like when I had a race exhaust set up. This is a more bang for your buck and a great combination. I would love to get that cold air induction soon. and keep it stock looking. Thanks for this video and inspiration for my own 350z 👍🏼😊

Thanks for watching! You might also be interested in these setups as they have a "factory" enhancement in mind. This should really help! The stock Ztube is decent (especially if you wrap it with gold tape), but the silicone one should really help with this!

Ya with the new Tanabe setup and this it felt pretty with the Z1 collars. It was raining and I had lots of grip, no wheel hop when I would spin the tires. The VLSD is junk, will need to go hellical gear now to put the power down.

I have this tube combined with the Mishimoto air intake. I feel it was an upgrade form the stock intake and tube on my '05 Z. I also have the Motordyne plenum spacer, Fast Intentions Hi-flow cats and dual exhaust. I haven't dyno'ed it yet. Waiting until I have cams and new clutch/flywheel installed.

I thought it was worth it after I drove the car. After your first test drive I would do an ECU reset so the car can relearn the new setup.

Put this on my 35th anniversary, works beautifully. I just have a JWT pop filter; and a y pipe. How do u like the plenum spacer? I’ve been scared to pull the trigger on that. And that throttle body spacer. And a Catch can. A lot of shit.lol

@@AnthonyJ350 Yes and sounds deeper as well. I am appreciative of still having the original exhaust so I could tell that the intake tube added character to the z. These cars are amazing. Almost 200k miles and still all smiles.

@@adamnejad6250 They probably swapped with a buddy cause they didn't care. I think the Infinitis had the resonator because it's a "luxury" brand so they want the engine to be more quiet.

I have a 2006 G35. I am debating between Mishimoto Intake vs Stillen Z-Tube. I assume Stillen Z-Tube is very similar to the Nissan 350Z intake tube. How do you like the Mishimoto Intake? Thanks! - Will this throw off the ECU? Thanks!

This intake tube has been great. Love the quality and it doesn't really seem to absorb heat so in theory it will help keep the air charge cooler. It's a pretty good price too.

I just installed a Z1 plenum spacer today and I'm looking into that evo-r intake tube you made a video on recently. I've got an 03 350z and from reading forums I believe I don't have the velocity stack in my airbox that you mentioned in the video, so even without that do you think the stock intake is still the best performing one? I keep finding different opinions everywhere about CAI's and don't want to pull the trigger on a $200 intake if it doesn't even perform better. Sorry for the rambling but it really is confusing with companies saying that their CAI has 5-20whp gains proven and then other people showing a CAI will make you lose hp on a dyno.

Your stock air box will flow decent especially with the EVO-R piece. I would look for a used 2006 airbox or see if there is a velocity stack add on. If you're looking for more of a gain in the heat I would install the ISO thermal gasket under the lower plenum. It makes a huge difference in terms of heat soak.

Throttle response seemed better. The intake seemed to be a little noisier so in theory it's taking in more air. I think this would benefit a G35 more because its intake tube is baffled and the 350Z is already relatively straight.

You know how much heat that thing is going to soak in specially after a long drive or a hot day you were better off going with a custom carbon-fiber 3inch pipe or just a regular cold are wrapped in heat shrink bro stop being afraid to put some power behind that thing I like your videos you give good advice here's my advice get rid of that stock look time to go high performance built some real power out of that thing

Why would this material soak in heat? It's not a conductor. We're thinking about a super charger, but we're in the middle of a custom house build with a shop for more videos. You'll see it debut later this year. I think goals like that when building for your family are more important. That's why my builds have always been more simple. Been building up to this moment for years.

What are your thoughts on the K&N typhoon intake for the 350z? I don’t want a short ram intake sucking up engine heat and I don’t want to run a cold air intake due to living in the uk, I don’t want to hydro lock my engine. I was looking at the volant intake for the 350z but from what I’ve heard it’s a pain to install. Thanks

For an N/A setup I don't think they're great options for the reasons you listed. That's why I stuck with my '06 factory box, because it has a velocity stack in it and I just upgrade everything behind it. I also think the factory air box will flow more than enough for a bolt on car.

Question buddy.. have you done a plenum spacer video? I put a skunk2 spacer on and now my hood hits the plenum.. it barely latches.. and I don't even have the cross bar on it.. any tips or ideas?

Hey I have the copper thermal tb plate on my g35. I’m considering getting a throttle body spacer. It looks like the car in this video has both of I’m correct. Did u need to get longer bolts from somewhere or did the hardware that came with the tb spacer suffice? Also which brand spacer do u run ?

I ran a generic one on ebay that had a heat sink design and machined to tumble the air. I just used the provided bolts.

I have this same intake tube on my 03 350z paired with a big blox racing velocity stack filter and I have other bolt ons as well. Really improved throttle response. Do you think this intake tube is just as good as Injen intake or all the other ones they offer for the DE platform. I know Admin tuning makes good power too. What is your thoughts on this? I would love to see just a dyno of the silicone tube paired up with a velocity stack style filter like I have. Just curious if it would make any improvements compared to all the other intakes like the JWT pop charger and so on. I know there has been lots of different intakes thrown at the DE over time but I would love to see how it would compare to those intake setups sense it like the only silicone intake they have made for the DE platform that I know of.

Mishimoto has dyno pulls showing this intake tube. I think this one will do really well in terms of "heat soak" People don't consider you lose power on a hot summer day when you've been running the car hard for a while. So products that insulate or reflect against heat I think would perform better in a variety of situations.

I sent Saul Nismo Nights a message about this intake and he totally laughed at me about it and said there all about the same on the DE engine and totally dissed me about it. I was quite shocked of the reply back I got from him so I unfollowed him on Instagram lol. Great tuner and I really admire what he is has done with the Nissan platform but that was not cool at all. I was thinking just like you about it. Should allow smoother airflow and much lower heat temps which should show some different numbers compared to other intakes. There is no way there all the same. I seen the dyno on there website of the Mishimoto silicone tube and it did make power. Thanks for the reply back and being respectful about it. Have a great day and you have some great videos BTW.

It's not about heat soaking the engine, it's about heat soaking the MAF which screws with the true mixturre of air/fuel, because it thinks the air being drawn in is warmer than it really is.

They seem like good combinations and are tested. You will have to get a tune with UPRev to hit those numbers.

A little bit on initial start up but it goes away once the tensioner pressurizes. It's relatively faint. What oil are you using.

@@AnthonyJ350 I've recently bough the car a year ago @ 86k. The car now has 94k it's an 03 DE motor ever since I acquired the car I've used Mobil 1 5w-30 full synthetic. The ticking on mine is the same...it's only noticeable on start up as the car reaches optimum temperature it seems to quite down a lot. Do you recommend the Z1engine flush that they claim gets "rid" of the tick?

AnthonyJ350 Invida exhaust and aam high flow cats is what i have engine wise. Im going to put a ported vhr intake plenum swap in with the bigger injectors. 330-335 hp is about as much as it will get after the soho retune.
