Nissan 370Z FIRST OIL CHANGE! DIY Maintenance 

About to do my first change... how do you keep the used oil from pouring all over the cover if you don't remove it fully? Does it clear the cover just enough when you use the bungees to hold it forward?

Pennzoil is trash it makes the car laggy

Started to pull all the bolts and cussing out the engineers when looked at the cover closely and just the x4 10mm head bolts need to be removed. This vid pops first, maybe change the title... Not sure if such small filter needs to be pre-filled, pump gets this done in less than a half second. Using other oils is a preference thing, 80k mile 370z and we are using NAPA synthetic 10-30.

Oh very cool. Honestly I never had issues with high oil temps. Even ripping on the car in the summer, it'd never go over 210. So I'm sure sticking with the full synthetic helps

@@BrosFOURRSpeed Well the temp climb didnt happen till week just had a horrible 3 days to a week of high 90s and feel like temps of 110. But this morning it was only 72 and it barely budged over 200. But it definitely takes longer to get there.

How hard is the Audi?

Z1 oil filter drain plug is well known for breaking, I will stay with OEM!

I bought a Nismo magnetic drain plug and a nismo oil filter from Z1.

Thom 1883 Castrol doesn't even own its own oil refinery they bid it out to the lowest person.

I followed the tute, but on my 370z I only removed the four bolts on the flappy bit of plastic on the rear of the cover then secured it with a dual hook bungee cord. Worked a treat. You don't need to remove them all

Before this oil change, on whatever oil it had before. I only saw 220 when I filmed my exhaust video during the summer. Back to back 0-60 runs made it heat up. On the track tho in December, It didn't even get above 200. But I'm keeping an eye on how it runs now

The Fulcrum I'm not B4S but I own a 370z nismo so I think I can answer your question. I think his Z has 26000 miles on it which you can see at like the 1:00 mark Stock Z's come with Bridgestone potenzas and nismos come with Yokohamas which should last around 12-15k miles And for big ticket items I've only heard of the Clutch slave cylinder going out which isn't covered under warranty and can run you $900-1500 and it can go out at any time, other than that the car gets really hot! So you SHOULD invest in an oil cooler but it's not needed unless you track and finally, the gas tank sucks because it puts you in limp mode aka the car turns off on you when you take a really hard sharp turn on low gas I've had my car for less than 1000 miles so I haven't had any issues yet at all other than the clutch being stiffer and the biting point being a lot higher than other cars (not really a problem just preference), sometimes the hood rattles A LOT when driving on the freeway and that's about it 👍

Wow thank you, Yea I heard about the CSC - I will replace it with a Zspeed if mine goes. I have 2 friends in a local z club one has over 80k miles on stock csc, the other has 110k on his base csc and 25k on nismo csc, it's really hit or miss. what tires can you recommend ? I just got a 2011 with 14k miles and the oem tires are almost gone, I was considering yokohoma advan all seasons since they are $200 cheaper vs DWS06

Go to your local Advanced Auto. They can plug in an OBD2 scanner and see what code has popped up

It's really all the same. I've your Mobil 1 in my GTR for 5 years and it runs perfect. As long as it's the correct weight and full synthetic you'll be good!

Whatever I put in got my right in the middle of the H and L on the dip stick. Put in what the manual says the car requires and you'll be good

The LEDs is basically the main difference from the older models from the newer ones. The big changes were from the 2014 NISMO Z to the 2015 nismo

I've had a 2010 and I currently own a 2016 370z. In addition to the LED DRL's the newer model also has a cabin noise reduction system (which seems to work, because there is less road noise) and a fake engine sound, which works seemlessly with your accelerator pedal. These electronic 'enhancements' are Nissan's cheapskate way of addressing the Z's main problems (road noise & lack of V6 sound). The fake engine noise is acceptable, because it frightens my wife. I feel the suspension is slightly better too (that's just an opinion).

That would have cost probably more than double from Nissan, this oil is perfectly fine and I've been using it for a long time.

William Taylor Payne Honestly, my Genesis Coupe was a much better car for college. the trunk space and rear seat room was fantastic for grocery shopping and moving stuff from home to my apt. So I would pick a 2 door 4 seater for college. Then get the less practical 2 seater!

As much as I think the Z will be a more fun car. At that point in your life, you will really appreciate having a very fun car that is also super practical. As you saw in this vid, the 5 qt of oil didn't even fit in the trunk sitting up right lol

EDK yeah I originally wanted a 350z but found a good job and will have graduation money coming so I figured a 370z couldn't hurt. But then again I've always been a mustang fan and the practicality is hard to ignore.

Garbage. Gives consistently the worst UOA of any oil, even budget straight weights.

You won't really notice a performance gain. But it will keep oil temps in check during track events

EDK From my experience owning an 2013 touring automatic, I have to say it does not sound too coarse or engine about to blow up than my friend's Z manual sport. As a matter of fact, I love how the Z and G sound. Just me personally.

10k is honestly ok. Thats what Toyota recommends with the 0w40. I'd still do it once a year tho

The only way to know is with oil analysis. Keep changing it later and later until they say the oil is breaking down. Better yet, just change it every 3-5K depending on city or highway like the rest of us unless you get a new car often anyway.

Wrong Wheel Drive There is definitely road noise. It isn't horrible, but after 2 hours of driving, you will want a quick break

Wrong Wheel Drive Road noise is more pronounced in a sport package than the base or just touring trim, at least from my experience.

Wrong Wheel Drive the road noise is pretty bad you can feel and hear everything but its all preference I love having the raw sound of the z it's not a "nice" car and I wouldn't recommend it to someone who is into luxury or is older but if you want something raw then the z is the way to go!

I just use what the car recommends. Never had an issue with any of my cars

@@bjornironsides6474 idk. my godfather used to change my oil for a 4x4 burger combo from In N Out and $60. I only said $200 because a business I drove by was advertising oil changes starting at $200. But I think that's because it was a shop that specialized in exotics like Porsche and Lamborghini. There was a cool Corvette and Maserati being worked on.

@@bjornironsides6474 oh, nooo. my godfather loves Z's and has two twin turbo 300ZX and a 370Z Nismo so he has always been the one to change everything but now I do it myself cuz of this video. He still does the transmission fluid changes and other stuff I can't do. Like, recently, he upgraded my camshafts so now I sound like a V8.
