Having owned a 370z, I feel you are severely underestimating this car. I had my Z for 5 years, and it was my daily driver and also my track car on weekends. I believe the new 370 is a gorgeous vehicle. The shoulders and hips alone make this one of the most attractive set-ups you can buy for the price on the market. With proper suspension set-up. In my case kw v3, endlinks, and anti sway bars, this car was like a bat mobile. I tuned my car using Uprev tune with Specialty-Z in Carlsbad, my car had 370whp/330fpt. That’s ridiculous for an NA V6. HKS Exhaust, Oil Cooler, Test Pipe as well. My car left AWD cars in the dust. It was so amazingly balanced. I sincerely regret ever selling it. It never broke once. The 370z is a Legendary monster.
I feel you bro, but I still have mine! Going to get my first upgrade tomorrow! True cold air I take and I'm putting gold foil heat insulating tape on the pipes to reflect radiant heat. I did it in my previous 370Z and it worked great at keeping the pipes MUCH cooler than without! I'll be making a video for the first time in a long time tomorrow.
Appreciate you making an episode about the 370z. I think that you are missing some key points which make this car attractive to some people. Such as the relative low costs of ownership, the strong hardware and ease of supercharging or twin turbo-ing it to north of 500whp without opening the engine. It's kind of the last of it's breed: you don't find many NA V6 cars in the 2018 showroom anymore which you can hit the track with as well as do a 1000 mile roadtrip without being overly exhausted at the end. Yes the torque isnt high, but comparing it to a turbocharged engine isn't fair. Same as naming it a poor man's GTR, the GTR is 4wd, automatic gearbox and turbocharged. The Z has always been about being an accessible drivers car. What do they have in common with a GTR, besides that they're both a Nissan with 6 cylinders..? Unfortunately we haven't seen you pushing the car to its limits on some backroads with the traction controll off. Join me for a lap on the Nürburgring Nordschleife and im curious if you are still of the same opinion :-)
Fair enough - minor upgrades such as an oil cooler and brake pads/ducts are required for reliable trackday experiences. Still then, the car is a LOT of fun to drive and very well balanced for a lot of track fun for the average (90%) drivers.
Thing I like the most about the 370Z is that I rarely see one... Living here in Michigan, all you see is Mustangs, Camaros, and... way, way, WAY, too many Challengers and Chargers... and most people will never use their 400, 500, 700, whatever horsepower... If I didn't have more important responsibilities... I would get a regular 370Z...
I have a 2014 370Z with just 50k miles on it, mostly highway miles and not one problem have I had with it mechanically. I put on upgraded tires (Continental Extreme Contact) 285 wide by 35% high by r19's and man do they grip. I'm getting a true cold air intake tomorrow and can't wait. I've beaten two challengers, a Camaro v6 and a modified Mustang Ecoboost, as well as two Porsche 997 cabriolets and one Ferrari 360 Spyder. It is a very quick car because of the short gear ratios on the bottom end of the 7 speed auto transmission.
@@Drshitz He said its 4.9 for the nismo, like 5.1 for the base (only because the base has thin tires and crappy wheels; 225 fronts and 245 rears, where as the nismo is 245 fronts and 285 rears)
Probably not, but I'm a fan. Bought a '16, put twin turbos on it, flex fuel, and a few other things on it. It's been like this for the last 20 thousand miles. No real problems. Daily driver. Fun to drive, works for me. Keeping it until the wheels fall off or I get Porsche 911 TT money.
As the soundtrack says, krazy. This car don't even need to change how it looks, they should of just put the q60 twin turbo motor in this car and that fixes everything
I owned a 350z in my college years...it was the best bang for buck back then (I couldn't afford an S2000). These feel pretty long in the tooth these days! Those seats tho... I could see how they sell it haha. Great video
Tedward don’t know where you live, but they’re rare where I live. I own a 2017 Nismo and get compliments daily. Stangs, Camaros , Vettes and Challengers are ho hum cause they are everywhere.
I know on paper max torque is not impressive, plus very peaky at 5000 rpm... but in my experience with standard 370Z the engine absolutely does not disappoint. It's the sharpest V6, it feels torquey throughout the rev range, even from down low, and it sounds good while pulling so linearly. Modern turbo engines are not nearly as satisfying to me, with massive but LAGGY torque shove down low which inevitably fades WAAAYY before redline (including M235i). Granted the 370Z has it's flaws; but I feel like the engine is a strong asset, and that's precisely why I still find it desirable.
I test drove one and loved it. Great seats, steering wheel, sound and awesome handling. Very visceral car, which makes it very fun! Its not all about numbers. Thinking about getting one now.
I personally rather see an updated version of 370z Nismo version with a updated RB engine single turbo and around 500 horsepower.. and bring back the T-tops😊
Thank you for the compliment, I am so happy to hear that our videos are enjoyed all across the world! If you want to help us out, please share the videos RU-vid URL on your social media as this really helps us reach new viewers.
I saw one , never like the newer Z’s but as soon as I saw this one I fell like a child to an ice-cream truck I wanted some sweets and followed it it’s such a nice looking car and the sound is soo good and I’ve always like the Datsun Z’s
Me too. I love the tech package, wheels, gears, recaro seats, body kit, the way it drives. The only thing it’s missing that I wish that it had was a twin turbo from the factory.
I just bought a 2020 and I love it. What I didn’t like was your take about this awesome car. I sold my STR 392 Chally w 550 hp . I don’t miss it at all. With upgrades this car the 370 is an awesome and amazing car. Remember it’s the driver and his abilities to drive and race it. I personally disliked the why you put down this car. I gave you a 👎🏼 ! I really got happy reading all the positive comments about this car...
This car is so underrated! It’s not super fast but it’s not slow. It’s meant to be tuned. Spend 20 k on a twin turbo kit and you’ll have a little rwd gtr. or spend 10k on a super charger or single turbo kit! You won’t regret it I promise!
I bought mine in 2016 for 33k with 14.5 miles. First I want to say I love this video, because I agree with almost everything he said. The shifting is notchy, but I think makes you a better driver. It is quick, just not fast, stock, but it looks good. I have the same exact car and the seats sold me. This car gets attention. I've had mine over 2 years and am not at all disappointed, since I couldn't afford a GTR. This will do.
Buy a used one with 8k miles for $36k. Then it’s a steal. Love the seats, wheels, body kit, suspension, steering wheel and 7500 rpm limit. And you will be the only one around.
Very true. In 2017, I bought a 2016 with 11,000 miles for $34,000 and I LOVE IT. Wife agreed that I could get an A2A Supercharger on it for Christmas. Can't wait.
Still regret not getting this car. But the prices are ridiculously high. Went with a Q50S instead. It is obviously not in the same category, but same displacement engine, more room, and great interior.
It’s also a GT, cut it some slack. All the cars you name wouldn’t be as good for a long ride as this thing would be. I’ve been on two trips in a 350 and one in a 370. They cruise the interstate quite nicely.
Funny you mention that because thats exactly what the 300zx was in its n/a form. I've always felt the z was a sporty gt car. Not shitting on the car i love the z line.
Gonna correct you here...I have a 2010 40th Anniversary 370z. Pretty much a sport/touring model with special color and red interior. It also came with a viscous LSD as well. All sport package equipped models come with it. The only thing a Nismo has that sets it apart from the standard models are the body kit, suspension/sway bars, wheels, h-pattern exhaust, and a tune that allows that 7400rpm peak power. That's it. They are not faster than a base/sport/touring model. Save yourself the extra 20k, get some KW V3's, an intake/exhaust, and a tune and spank a Nismo all day around a track with money left in your pocket. Oh and the 2009-2014 Nismo's look *A LOT* better. Much better looking wheels as well. The only thing the 2015 and up Nismo's have going for them are the Recaro seats which are borrowed from the Juke R. And it's only the top half of the seat. The bottom cushion is same as a base 370z with just with red accents lol.
GrayFox370 is quarter mile that relevant? And anyway, I don't trust random forum data. Look here - Nismo faster by 3s on this 1.8mi/3km circuit thanks to its superior handling (engine contribution minimal) www.whichcar.com.au/reviews/comparisons/nismo-versus-nissan-370z-track-battle
@@nessuno5403 On a track sure its faster than a base model. But like I said, you can get a base, add in a pair of KW's, wheels and tires and spank a Nismo around the track all day long for less than the price of the Nismo.
think youre over reacting on the price, these are 12-15k more than the "BASE" 370z with no rev-matching. Most usually get at least the Sport which is 33k with bigger tires and rev-matching which is like 10k more?? do you even math? Its much more than the seats and body kit as well... its has suspension, wider tires, akebono breaks, and yamaha support bracing
This is my dream car i love the aggressive design of the Nismo Z it definitely is very stylish and that naturally aspirated V6 sounds so nice. I hope to find a decent second hand 2017 spec onwards when the time comes in that beautiful Pearl White colour.
just bought one 2018 have owned every z since 1973, stock tires follow every irregularity in the road good on newely paved road u have 2 really pay attention when driving this car which 2 me is good will supercharge or twin turbo when warranty is up like your honesty when giving reviews
the answer is yes. I used to knock on these cars for years. Then i actually drove a 15+ nismo. And now I own one. It's been my favorite car to drive and the track is just as enjoyable.
The 370z ranges in weight from 3232 to 3498! The 2018 z's gained a lot of weight. My 17 weighs 3314 at the moment. That is why some guys run 12s stock and some run mid to high 13s.
Great video. You forgot to mention if you find a sport touring edition you will have LSD. Also will have 19" wheels with 245 front tires 275 rear tires, biggie sized brake setup, rev match shifting, but about 20 less hp. LSD is not just available in the nismo version
You completely missed the point of this car. Properly driven, at the track, 370Z NISMO is a deadly track tool which will reward the driver. If you are looking for more power on straight line, go for a dime of dozen Ford Mustang. 370Z NISMO is a true track sports car.
Yes and you can get more power and speed out of this car with some simple bolt-ons. Plus you need to reprogram the ECU with UPREV's Osiris II with a proper dyno tune by someone that knows what they're doing. The difference is day and night! This car is fast and smooth. The Red Sport coupe with a dyno tune and some bolt ons is fast.
I agree. I think he is missing some key points with 370Z. Yeah, cars like Focus RS have similar power but unlike Focus RS, 370Z is a proper sports car. It has right proportions, RWD, manual gearbox and naturally aspirated V6 which becomes rarity in that price range.
You might want to recheck the weight of this particular car. While a base 370Z weighs around 3300 lb, thanks to its smaller wheels and brakes, lack of LSD, etc., the Nismo weighs a bit more at around 3450 lb. However the Nismo is still lighter than the 1996 300ZX with the twin turbo, which had a curb weight of 3500 lb. But with that said, the 370Z is still a great sports car value in its base trim, although it would have been nice if Nissan made the LSD standard equipment for all trim levels.
I have a 2018 370Z NISMO tech and it's a real sports car most sports cars now got twin turbos and they have to have help with their power I want original power out of my engine and I love my automatic
Not for 40k+.... But it's a dope car. It's got great elements of a proper sports coupe and although it isn't the fastest for it's dollars, it does deliver fun driving and it looks beautiful. Great aftermarket support too, and the engine is bulletproof. Hard not to like it a lot. Great shots and music/review though!
No you can't compare the 370z to the focus rs. The Z is an old school design and that's why it's so good. NA engine, no complicated computers or unreliable turbo system, hydraulic steering... the rs is fast but it lacks soul
Musa Bashir - If you think the Focus RS lacks soul then you haven't driven one. But a more apt comparison with the Z would be the V6 Camaro 1LE, which is priced similarly to a standard 370Z sport, but is both faster and better balanced.
Guys need to know, The Zs its own car, its not trying to be a Skyline GTR, and it ridiculous to compare the two as i see the Zs a way better looking car with potential to beat it with an added turbo. So Team Z here boy.
I have the pearl white 2017, 7 speed automatic 370 nismo. It’s not the fastest car but definitely enough power to play with, and if anyone worry about the automatic shifting slow, it shifts really fast like a gtr, there is no delay. You can also do a better 0-60 in the auto than the manual too, but don’t let that stop you from buying the manual, buy what you like and prefer, just know that I did not regret buying this car at all.
One things for sure is that, if they turbo this car, it’s pretty much going to be as fast as a GTR, and I’m sure Nissan don’t want it being better than the GTR.
Twin turbo z32's are an amazing amount of car for the price these days. Especially if you can do any maintenance, repair work or upgrades you wanted to do to it.
I like this car at MSRP 30,000 but not 50,000!! The base car seems like a good opportunity for the average Joe to enjoy the qualities of a traditional sports car while also having a perfectly fine daily driver. Otherwise you're looking at the price of some very considerable competition unless your local Nissan dealer gives you something like a 10g discount which isn't unheard of but rare.
I have one of these. I disagree with how the Z is always called a "mini-GTR", they are entirely two different classes of sports cars. The only similarity is the engine's basic construction, when you don't take into account forced induction VS. NA. And, the 2018 Nismo 370z weighs a whopping 3500 LBs, not 3200. The 2015 Nismo weighs into the mid 3300's, despite being the same exact car. The base 2009 370z weighed around 3250. Just some fun facts.
You can get a nice deal on one now. I’m sorry to say but I’m older. Back in the 1970’s I drove a 1967 GT fast back mustang, sadly I sold that car. I could have bought hemi cudas, Judge GTOs any of those cars cheap because in 1973 we had a gas crunch and everyone was dumping those cars. They only make 500 of these Nismos a year. This is your chance to own one. I love my 2015 Nismo and even though I paid $46,000 I’m happy.
CC Chodkowski i am pretty sure you are right. I am counting on the fact, that later in future this will be a little collectible...but still...new one for 45k is little too much but i am about to buy one and you can see even 2018's for mid 30's and thats acceptable because the car is more appealing to me that any mustang, challanger or Camaro...
I love 370s but I feel that the body kit on this Nismo should actually be an updated sports package, that's what it looks like to me on the exterior. I prefer the previous body style for the 2009-2014 Nismos. I'll stick with my current 370z sports package for now.
You can buy those seats off the shelf from Recaro. They are just Recaro Sportster CSs with the low bolster bottoms. I've had a pair of these seats in my GTi since 2009.
You never answered the question of is it worth the extra money over any of the other 370Z cars... Love the video but the title is kind of click bait vs the review you gave it...
Just buy a used touring sport and put a exhaust on it( Performs almost as well but more comfortable)...That's what I did. 2012 touring sport 3 years ago with 40k miles for 21k added a stillen exhaust...
Maybe it's just me, but a point of pride in driving a sports car is never touching yellow or white- all the while pushing the car towards its limits. I wouldn't post a video to sports car lovers doing either of those things!
2017 Nismo 370z or 2017 GT-R is on my list but I'll probably end with the Z since the R35 hold their value pretty well. Z still a beautiful looking Car till this 2016 refinements on the Nismo variant make a big difference especially it's aggressive styling.
will cost more than $50000usd with 400hp , means less buyers can afford it . Its finically stupid for manufacture to upgrade a car that doesn't sell well around the world . Only a left communist would think a Manufacture has money growing from trees
lol the z32 had TT's, you can't compare a F/I car to an N/A car.. ofc you'll miss the boost. But once you boost these, you can easily make 500whp at around 8-10 psi.. reliably.
without turbos, V6's don't have much bottom-end grunt. Slapping turbos on gives more power down low by adding boost, NA V6 has more linear power high in the RPM's
We post all of the music used in our videos on our website at www.RoadsUntraveled.com The music tracks are a bit out of date but I will be updating the site shortly.
I like the part where he says the car is not fast. Name me a new car with MSRP under $50k that will beat this car all around, other than Must/Cam/Chrg v8 in a straight line. If there is an issue with the handling, it's not the car. Maybe that's why there are so many Mustangs out there, all you have to do is go in a straight line. I DD this car and love it, no issues with ride or clutch. Just like when people laugh at my Ninja 300cc that I can smoke all but the best 600 riders on, (up to about 90 mph anyway)
those extra 8 lb-ft torque? Are those what account for the Z doing 0-60 in 4.9 vs camaro 5.1? Have 100 less lbs, running a quicker 1/4, stopping faster and pulling .99gs instead of .88?
Nissan says it's actually heavier at 3,457 to 3,486 lbs depending on specs...the next one needs to be 3020lbs & they need to give it that infinity twin turbo engine for 400Hp+ to keep up with its competition.
