I did a front mount mod 8 years ago from forefront industries it directs alongside the passenger head light via silicone hose. I did a exhaust turbo back 10 years back. I noticed towing improved 10 fold. But damn i need a second fuel filter ! The $3500 for the pump failing was a bummer. My 2003 has clicked 570,000kms ... she breathes heavy but is still ole reliable... loved the vid mate 😊😊😊 if you work for hitachi you get 60% off 4wd donaldson fitler kits FYI 😉 cheers 👍
Iv rebuilt a fair few of the zd30 now and there a reasonable motor. In relation to the pump, it's the ( electrical component ) that goes bad all most ever time not the actual pump itself failing. But because of the labor involved a New replacement pump is a must.
Ahhh I always thought it would be foreign contaminates that block it. So there's no way of preventing the electrical fault is there? While I got you, would you know the reason the engine shudders on shutdown after use?
@@Sparkysontheloose Foreign objects in your injector pumps never good. Cleanliness is key even when changing filters. < ( Important ) The factory filter doesn't a pretty good job but a second is always better especially with the sight glass on the bottom.. When diagnosing issues always with the simple .. If its running and driving fine it might be a lost bolt or broken motor mount.
@@Sparkysontheloose. In regards to preventing the electoral component from going bad there's one major thing and its Cleanliness again... Iv seen pumps that have so much mud on them you cant actually see it . Some have that much oil coming out of the top end it drips on the pump and the dust sticks and cooks it.
Mate put one in his, cost about $200. It just kept the engine temps down as when it was towing it was hot as. He never got a certificate for it though.
Hooha888 . He reckons it helps. The cops will have a field day with him anyways, he’s running 35’s with spacers, 4” lift, illegal window tint. I’m guessing the bonnet scoops the least of his worries.
Interesting video buddy Have been checking in on your trips for a while now When you said you only had one loose nut I thought it might have been a joke about you being sparky on the loose Your living my dream Good luck mate
I know this was 2 years ago but how's the nav holding up if you still have it? I just picked up one for 16k with 145,000kms. It's a zd30 and is stock as a rock. Keen to get it setup for some adventures (when lockdown is over 😞)
@@taylorcrawshaw I actually test drove a heap of D22s and D40s and hated them all. Went for a 2006 3.2 ML GLXR Triton, have loved it since I bought it. The cabin is huge, plenty of space under bonnet for the extras I've put in so far (catch can, prefilter, a heap of wiring for lights and uhf, etc). It had 112,000 when I got it, it's on 127,000 now.
Thanks for the information on spare parts am getting qoutes for spares it's going to be a new dmax dual cab but I don't want to take any chances. thanks guys
No worries John, being a new dmax I'm not sure if adding a pre fuel filter would affect the warranty. Id double check that as it would be the first thing I'd want to install especially being a new engine.
@@Sparkysontheloose they are fitting a pre filter as the boss of Isuzu Newcastle NSW goes off-road alot and has suggested that extra filter and catch Can. Thanks for your reply
Hi guys found out that getting a gvm upgrade doesn't help as the authorities only go of your gcm a gvm upgrade is only helping your vehicle's carrying capacity hope this information helps others decide on a gvm upgrade for touring and towing a heavy van or trailer. Thanks guys
Hi John, i thought your GVM upgrade was so you could carry more on your ute, like a canopy with fridges etc. So you have problems with GCM well yes that is a tough one and i think you have already got the answer. With these new heavy caravans these days it leaves no room for anything and that's why we opted for our coromal as its only 2.2t. The only way to counter this issue would be to get a lighter caravan but that may be out of the question for you.
Hey Dave, heres the link the the filters. rover.ebay.com/rover/1/705-53470-19255-0/1?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com.au%2Fitm%2FOil-Filter-2002-For-NISSAN-NAVARA-D22-Ser3-Turbo-Diesel-4-3-0L-ZD30-RF-F%2F201503108269%3FssPageName%3DSTRK%253AMEBIDX%253AIT%26_trksid%3Dp2057872.m2749.l2649&campid=5338263096&toolid=20008
Hey the mate, I see that you have taken off the pre air filter. I have read that they are quite restrictive. I’m keen to do this to my 2004 3L nav to get some better air flow, but also make some more room for a catch can and pre fuel filter that I’m going to put in. If I do this is there anything I should do or worry about with being less a filter? Cheers
Hey Bailey, this must of been done by the previous owner as I got no idea what the pre airfilter looks like. A great mod that not many people know about is the glow plug timer so the plugs don't crack the head like it has on mine.
That annoyed you? give these guys a break. if they want to get alittle bit of money back on ad revenue which is freaking tiny for RU-vidrs then good on them. i personally let their ads run all the way through instead of skipping as that affects how much money they receive.
