Wow that brings back memories. My father had a 60 series I think it was a H60 troup carrier as it was a long wb and had seats down the sides with only two doors on the side. He got it cheap with low miles from a used car yard in Adelaide as they didn't understand one of the front hubs was frozen and it drove terribly. About half the price it should have gone for. I think 70 or 71 before the 4WD craze in Australia. On the way home we stopped at Mclouds and got 5 new Michelin truck tires replacing the log and bar? treaded tires it had. The next week I remember him coming home with a bull bar on it he made at work as we didn't have a welder. He showed me pointing out it had my initials as part of it's frame but now of course I know that these were his initials LOL (I remember that was common at the time). He did other mods before our first trip a second fuel tank from an international truck, jerry can holders on the rear and a full size roof rack with a ladder. When we went to the drive in my brother and sister used to sit up on the roof in deck chairs. After the first trip to the flinders ranges he was not happy with its performance and replaced the Hitachi carb with a Stromberg. We did 4 trips towing a van going to Poeppels and Cameron corners. Hedonbury and I believe Spider craters. Darwin, Broome, Woomera and Marble Bar to name a few. The last trip we were away for three months (best one for me as my brother and sister had to stay home for school), ohh how things have changed! I can never remember the Nissan letting us down. My family has had Land Rovers, Pagero', Land Cruisers newer Patrols ( 4sp G60, MQ and Y60) even a Scout and that old troopy has always been the benchmark we referred to. Only the BJ40 came close.
great work guys me and my late father had a g60 i used it as my first car i took the old girl to hell and back i can remember when my dad got it at the time i was 17 on my L's 18 years ago now he payed $1500 for it and it needed alot to get rego on it but we got it done it was all original 3 speed and all we used it to tow our old ht prem street stocker to daylesford speedway every 2 weeks and dad used it as a push car on the track floged the guts out of it and she never missed a beat g60's rock
The irony of this video being posted by Nissan when it doesn't make the parts to keep these vehicles going like other companies support their classic vehicles.
Nissan patrol is really great but need improvements during years the problem with Nissan is that they make a car then leave it the same for the whole generation with a few facelifts only. You need to Do some mechanical improvements and entertainments…..
