Hi Hellmuth, I just wanted to drop a thanks here as this video of yours was reassuring me buying the 1.3 DIG-T version and not worry about its consumption! :)

Great video as always Helmuth. And greetings from Ireland! Not very impressed with the fuel consumption of this Qashqai. I have a late 2012 Toyota Auris/Corolla 1.8 Hybrid, and she gets very very impressive fuel economy. I went down to Kilbeggan today which is 62 miles up and back, so 124 miles in one day. I got an average of 65 to 67 mpg going at about 58 to 60 mph on the motorway, and 74 to 77 mpg going at 50 mph on the 80 Km roads. So when I got back home only 1 bar of fuel was used. I get usually a month to five weeks out of my fuel. I commute to work five days week which is roughly about 40/50 miles per week and of course a long drive every Saturday. Overall my Toyota Hybrid only uses about 4.2 to 3.7 liters/100KM.

Really great video! So glad I’ve found this Chanel today. Very informative. I’ve a Ford Puma (155bhp) ST-line X. I downsized. But regretting it now. Thinking of going back to this car. I’ve owned 2 QQs and 2 Jukes prior. What is your thought of the smaller Juke Hybrid? Do you think it a good car? Have you done eco testing on it? Thanks for a great Chanel.

Hungry waiting for the e-power hybrid variant (when it will be available) with the brand new 1,5 gasoline variable compression gasoline engine combined with parallel hybrid system.

sounds an interesting combination, although experience shows that the most efficient hybrid systems use bigger engines (Atkinson) with relatively low power-output (like Toyota and Ford).

The new e-power Qashqai uses only an electric engine to drive the wheels. The onboard petrol engine provides electricity for the batteries and electric motor. It would be great if you could review the new e-power Qashqai?

Good evening Helmuth and kind greetings from Cumbria in the northwest of England. In your opinion is a cvt gearbox more economical that a dsg one or a ‘Normal’ torque converter ‘box please? I’ve always been an economical driver or at least I thought so but since I’ve been watching your instructive videos of managed to eke out a few more miles per gallon out of my SEAT Alhambra 2.0 turbo diesel (148bhp with dsg). Many thanks. Stay safe and well.
@ecodriver1746
@ecodriver1746 2 года назад
Hi, glad to help ;) I've heard that Cumbria is really nice, although I never made it there as I was living only in the south (Berks). A CVT-gearbox can be more economical if it's used correctly. It's also important that the engine has enough torque to allow the revs to remain low, something this Nissan actually has, despite it's small size. Hope you stay safe and well too!

Hello and thank you for this post. The Nissan Qashqai is a car I am looking to buy. I did notice you didn't use the stop start on your test. Does the system work in reducing fuel consumption, or do you think it makes it less efficient? I would be interested to hear your opinion. Once again many thanks.
@ecodriver1746
@ecodriver1746 2 года назад
Hi. The start-stop system didn't work, probably due to the low outside temperatures. Later that day, after my video-ride, it did. I think it's an effective way of further reduce consumption and I activate it whenever possible.

Hello and thank you for this video. What would be Your advice with manual gearbox? I have consumption about 8.0L after first 3000km. Is that OK for this car? Thank You in advance 😊
@timarsandor
@timarsandor Год назад
Hi Stefan, I use that car almost daily (with my wife). On the first 1200 kms the Nissan is easily under 7.0l/100km (6,68 with very balanced highway, city and country road mix -- all measured after full tanks filled). My advise would be to always be in the recommended gear and use Eco mode after you have settled with maneuvering from your parking position (Eco mode also helps increasing efficiency of the AC, it's easily enough to battle against the 36 °C days what we have nowadays). If you can use the gas pedal gently, Standard mode is also fine, there could be at most 0,1/0,2 l/100km difference in my case between those modes. The car's current fuel consumption always looked best in the sweet spot 1650-1900 rpm range and under low rpm it goes up seemingly. When you are in a queue you can try to take advantage of the adaptive cruise control + ECO mode, that gives probably the best possible fuel consumption in a flat, straight slice of road. Also, make sure tyre pressure is optimal. Overall, take Helmuth's great Ecodriving advices into practice.

How about the necessity of the particulate filter to regenerate? Driving often at low revs to decrease fuel consumption only worsen this aspect.
@ecodriver1746
@ecodriver1746 2 года назад
No it doesn't, as if you increase the load (as I suggest) the burning process is more efficient and therefore the overall number of particles is reduced. High revs often lead to an incomplete burning process. It is also reduced by the fact that with the reduced amount of fuel used the amount of particles is going down.

@@ecodriver1746 Thank you for the reply, I have one more question. I saw that the S&S was disabled. How much of an impact on fuel consumption do you think it would have in city driving? Thank you.
@ecodriver1746
@ecodriver1746 2 года назад
In City-Traffic I'd assume it will reduce consumption by another 2-3 %, depending on the amount of time you're standing still. This one probably didn't work because of the low temperatures, as it worked after the test when I took the external pics and videos.

I assumed you talk about hybrids, not mild-hybrids (48V-starter generator motors with around 10 kw). The only ones who build them recently was Mercedes and they stopped last year. I tested the GLE 350 de and the consumption was atrocious (6,5 l/100 kms, my similar Volvo XC90 T8 was on 5,8 l/100 km Petrol - on empty battery, to simulate Hybrid in a PHEV). In the early days of hybrids there were some manufacturers who build them but all stopped.
@massimoromano4838
@massimoromano4838 2 года назад
@@ecodriver1746 Ok, but yes, full hybrid probably doesn't work since diesel engine has a lower efficiency when just started. As hybrid I considered mild-h too that helps a lot in areas where small diesel engines are greedy of fuel.
