The aim of this National Institute of Standards and Technology video is to improve firefighter safety by enabling better understanding of structural ventilation techniques, including positive pressure ventilation (PPV) and natural venting. PPV techniques remove heat, smoke, and other contaminants from a structure so that other firefighting tasks can be performed in a more tenable atmosphere. Findings from tests and fire experiments in a three-story training building, 30-story high rise (Toledo), and 16-story apartment building (Chicago) are presented. Prepared by fire protection engineers Dan Madrzykowski and Steve Kerber. For more go to: www.nist.gov/customcf/get_pdf....
