I continued to have problems with my Nitecore USN1 refusing to charge fully discharged batteries. I have just replaced it with an ISDT NP2 charger which supports three different Sony camera battery types; NP-FZ100, NP-FW50, and NP-BX1. It is early days, but it supports QC 3.0 and features a really nice IPS display. Might be worth a look if you use any of those batteries.

I've seen that charger around it looks useful if you have those 3 types of cell to charge. I never used the USN1, couple of other ones they were alright like this one the N3Pro hasn't caused a problem. It should be able to charge discharged cells I even tried one below the normal voltage and it got it going, so it sounds as if there is a problem with the one you got (warranty left?). I don't hear a lot from Nitecore these days, last contact left and all silent for months now!

@@MrBazReviews Nitecore weren't very helpful when I got in touch and just blamed my batteries. I bought some more batteries only to find I still have the same problem with the USN1, which is of course now out of warranty. I use two of the three battery types supported by the ISDT NP2 so though it was worth a punt. I've not heard of ISDT before but I think they are popular with RC hobbyists.

@@leighhaynes I dunno lot of the makers come and go, they're all over when you can spend time making a video, then disappear afterwards ;-D You could try to hit them up on social media. I think it's a culture thing I contacted Jetbeam about a light fault, and they just ignored the problem (oops) and then didn't send in any more review items lol yeah great move guys!. Bit strange I just don't get along with many of them even from a non buyer points of view. I'd try facebook or maybe whoever you got it from they might be able to get more results from them.

many thanks for the explanations so far, I couldn't find that in the short manual - it is quite short, especially according in explaining the display functions. I still don't understand the 2 values shown during charging :one , the lower, is for the concrete charging value - the bigger shows the progress of the charging process, .. and with FULL at the end the final capacity (also of older) batteries gets visible.. is that correct?
@MrBazReviews

mA - charge current/speed mAh - charge capacity how much is put into the cell it counts. Use this to test fully discharged cells to see how they are holding up and yes it reads full when done

@@MrBazReviews thy a lot... but what if the FULL status of an officially with 3.500 mAH declared Patina protect battery is shown with 1200 mAH.. and after I put the battery out and reinserted it to check if all was ok, it is only 4mAH?? can it be that the capacity is only measured for the time of actual charging?
@MrBazReviews
@MrBazReviews Год назад
@@tom_nuyts You don't re-insert anything that ruins the readings. You discharge the battery and charge it and you get the mAh when it is finished, you don't use a power bank (it turns off) use a continuous power source. 3500mAh is fantasy no battery is that capacity. it is quite simple to use this
@tom_nuyts
@tom_nuyts Год назад
@@MrBazReviews pardon me, io checked it out: the niter measures the delta mAH, the capacity measured when inserting.. each time. it does not cumulate the power... and: there are NP-F 550 clones with newer Lithium batteries inside which easily have 3.200-3.x00 mAH. please check it out on your own, I don't wann make advertising for a special brand..

@@tom_nuyts It very clearly shows how it works in the video accept it and move on. You put the battery in fully discharged and charge it, and it counts the mAh. This is not Mr Spock science, it's pretty damn simple. There are no camera batteries that reach that capacity, it's pure fantasy absolute BS of the highest order. Again deal with it and accept it

What is the usb adaptor you’re using to get que quick charge? I tried different adaptors and I couldn’t get that

amzn.to/2UMjn0o That's the one used in the video they do a single port model too

I have the USN1 for Sony NP-FW50 batteries (similar model to the UCN1). I have found it will not charge a completely discharged battery. It just displays 0mA on the display and does nothing. I have to first charge the battery for a short time in the camera, after which the USN1 will recognise and charge it, which is rather inconvenient. My batteries are genuine Sony ones.

Not used that one but I did find an old one around that was low voltage it worked in this it brought it up. But not all cells can be charged if the activation fails the battery could be toast

@@MrBazReviews After 15 mins of in-camera charging the Nitecore charged it to 890mAh (they are rated as 1080). I'd be interested to hear how you get on with the Telesin batteries or if you have recommendations for other third party replacements. Perhaps a comparison video?
@MrBazReviews
@MrBazReviews 5 лет назад
@@leighhaynes I was thinking of doing a video on "3 biggest rip offs" via camera makers. Batteries being one of them (grip and flashes being the other I mean OEM ones huge huge margins). With batteries the problem is it's hit and miss third party some are good some are bad. So I can only go on long term use, makers I've tried etc. It's the cell quality that counts obviously some third party cells are not great due to that. But the problem is even top tier cells ie Panasonic/LG/Sony etc are not that expensive to buy the cells - but the overall cost is hugely inflated. So really a case of using them and how the perform, trouble is it takes many months sometimes years to see what happens

dont use nitecore chargers, i have ucn2 pro, ulm240 an i4, none of them can fully charge a battery.

With this one the charging is fine, but the contacts sometimes don't hit he battery terminals on this cell
