I am controlling hooded crows on a hill farm to help protect sheep and lambs during lambing time in the spring. Hooded crows will pray on young lambs or even fully grown sheep who can get stuck on their backs when heavily pregnant unable to protect themselves. The crows will generally go for the soft tissue areas like the eyes tongue and anus and i have seen the damage they can do myself, this wont kill the sheep right away but will leave it weak and injured with a long suffering death unless found by the farmer.
Magpies and crows will also take any eggs or fledglings of ground nesting birds that they find.
This can legally be done through the Department Of Agriculture, Environment And Rural Affairs Wildlife (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 (As Amended) Licence.
This Licence hereby authorises for the purpose of preventing the spread of disease and preventing serious damage to livestock, foodstuffs for livestock, crops, vegetables, fruit, growing timber and fisheries ANY AUTHORISED PERSON to kill or take any of the following birds:-
Crow, Jackdaw, Magpie, Pigeon (Wood), Pigeon (Feral), Rook, Sparrow (House), Starling.
Rifle CZ 527 Varmint .17 Hornet
Scope Meopta 4-16x44 Tactical
Ammo .17 Hornet with 20gr Vmax hand loads
Bush Wear The Bush chair hide
Range Finder Bushnell Scout 1000

Thanks for letting the hooded crow finish before getting rid of him. It makes it easier on me to see an animal taken after he gets to blow his bird load on a dead birds back. Makes the day that much more special.

I have a 17 hornet. it did not start out as a 17 it was a 22. it was converted with a custom 18" Kreger barrel. my load is 20 grain v-max, IMR4198, Remington 6 1/2 primer=3620 fps with a 10mm group at 50m. its deadly on rabbits and crows etc if I can see it I can usually hits it. keep up the good work......

That's good to hear, i believe before the .17 Hornady Hornet came about people were rebarrelling .22 Hornet rifles to the .17 K Hornet which the .17 Hornady Hornet was based on.

Well done David, I’ve spent hours sitting over a dead Ewe that the Farmer left out for me, but i haven’t had a Crow or Magpie during the day or a Fox at night with my Thermal set up ! It got so bad I got the Knacker Lorry to take it away. Some times things just don’t come together😡🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿

Ah it just happens that way some times for some reason as there's plenty of mornings i've set out bait and decoys and sat for hours with nothing to show for it almost as if someone has put up a big red sign somewhere behind me saying danger stay away.

Brilliant video mate a good few pest gone have you ever tried just putting out a small decoy pattern with dead hooded crow's and see what happens
@NitroHV
@NitroHV 2 года назад
No i've always just used one crow or magpie decoy hopping to encourage the local crows into a territorial challenge but i have added other birds to the decoy set up as i've shot them in the past with good results so long as the other crows don't see you doing it.
@pelletandferretpestcontrol7367

@@NitroHV just an idea because you do say that they seem to get used to the rabbit and are getting finicky or leaving the rabbit somewhere that won't upset the farmers but the birds do get some without being shot.

It's weird that there is ZERO video evidence of foxes attacking lambs/sheep. There is video of killer whales hunting humpback whales, and lots of other rare events in far flung corners of the world. But no evidence of foxes attacking lambs or sheep. Makes me wonder.....

Read the description of the video. You don't like hunting or pest control. So why do you click on the videos without reading the description? Common sense, which seems most people lack nowadays. Everyone is also an activist. As long as it doesn't involve their time and money for the animals. Yall are only activists on social media never in the real world. Unlike hunters who are conversationalists and pay more for the upkeep of wildlife than any rescue or activist group.
@bluefallon6374
@bluefallon6374 2 года назад
@@FarmerFpv hey what the fk , the Description doesn’t tell why these crows are being shot, I was curious, you were assuming,which makes you an a** , and I’m a hunter who eats his prey , not an activist, you should learn how not to be so assuming.
@paulevans498
@paulevans498 2 года назад
If you had seen the damage that these evil creatures have done to sheep stuck on their backs , eyes pecked out,guts pecked out I had a ram that the crows took his togger off and then there's newborn lambs that are killed by pecking the umbilical cord, have you ever seen what they do to young birds in the nest and even when they fly the nest their not safe.They seem to like killing their victims by pecking the eyes out and straight into the brain
@bluefallon6374
@bluefallon6374 2 года назад
@@paulevans498 well,as horrible and evil as it looks to you , that’s nature , I find that people will humanize what animals do ,especially with dogs, I would say that they were opportunist , and what this hunter is doing ,is teaching the other hooded crows what not to do . I have ravens do you like to eat my duck eggs I don’t appreciate it so when I fire a couple shots at them to let them know I’m around they’re not ever around him , just takes a few times and they avoid my ranch at all costs.
