when going up in nitro percentage from manufacturer recommendation it will ignite on the compression stroke when using a hot plug thus forcing the piston down while piston still not at top dead center (pre detonation). will cause excess heat. going to cold plug when running high nitro content will retard the timing and fire at top dead center . that's how an efficient motor should run. i run a off road monster truck (savage) but spend much time at wide open.

Does those glow plugs work on specific heat range and fuel types ? Culd it work on ethanol for exampel? And what if your small engines exced temperatures do they do knocking back fire? Do those model plains and engines have some sort ignition timing control?
@thebug4046
@thebug4046 2 года назад
They will control Ignition timing a little bit but as far as athenol fuel goes doesn't really work doesn't make any power and it's very difficult to get tuned properly That's it all feel like it's high compression and a different kind of metal in a glow plug for the cataletic reaction you take place properly A warm 2 hot plug will allow you to tune easier and be more stable especially with an offroad engine

The glow plug in there is to create a catalytic reaction between platinum and methanol. it has nothing to do with the compression ratio. Nitro glow engines are low compression like any normal 2 stroke engine. NOT A DIESEL

Thank you for the informational video . Just so you know . The higher content of nitromethane like 33% . Actually causes the combustion temp go down , that's why you honestly need to go to a hotter plug . Yes more nitro = more power. But nitromethane actually burns very cool. Yes it's flipping extremely explosive. Yes that's why top fuel NHRA cars always have huge flames coming out of the headers. Another factor of them having the flames is also the amount of fuel they have to put through the engine to keep it in tune while heading to point B. Simplified nitromethane burns cooler, faster, stronger. If our glow engines, actually we're mini 4 stokes with digital ignition our RC's could and would be flame throwers , granted we would need to burn like 50-80% nitro. Lol ok so who is going to be the one to back yard engineer a car type flame thrower kit that's scaled down for RC's ?? Personally I prefer to build the engine to produce it's own flames like the pro NHRA DRIVERS. Hopefully I have helped and not confused everyone. Thank you again for your video.
@thebug4046
@thebug4046 3 года назад
I have run as high as 70% nitro in rc engines Did a custom blend just to see what would happen and to be honest anything past 35% of the engine's not ported properly it doesn't really make a more power just has higher and higher fuel consumption Is what I noticed and I have burned 100% nitro And to be honest It's not even explosive it Burns almost like kerosene and takes a little body heat and time for it to get going It's the fact that it carries its own oxygen and when you mix it with something like math and all that's when it becomes more explosive Definitely cool stuff to play around with i am going to try nitropropane Next when I can get my hands on some and see the difference between it and nitromethane just for shits And giggles
@leshulsey5674
@leshulsey5674 3 года назад
@@thebug4046 Hmm well I don't mind being wrong . But I just figured out my mistake . Bro you need or even if we can Make our own TOP FUEL ! Yes I was thinking nitromethane was top fuel but it's not . Not even close . They get to have any and all types of additives . There drums of Top fuel if there dropped or if you took a beater/ sledge hammer to the drum your u can make that fuel ignite and exsplode. Now I will go look for it but there is a guy who has built a 5 hp briggs engine that's mounted on a testing table and he takes straight nitro and sprays the intake side of the turbo :) with a spray bottle by hand to simulate nitro injection . Well some concerned subscribers asked him if he was worried about the nitro getting pre ignited and making a fire ball while doing an open air by hand fuel addition . Well he made a video of him doing it then stops spraying the turbo and just sprays the engine down. Well sir it lights harder and faster than #1 diesel aka kerosene. That's where I learned that nitro actually burns cold while making way more power with a nice sized fire ball all over the engine . He said it was cooler from engine to the flames ,than it was from flames to engine . I believe we all learned something that day. Btw #1 diesel burns really hot , so hot in fact that you can only burn. 25% kerosene 75% diesel in a LB7 dmax engine. Or you will melt the heads to the block. You make the nitropane . I will grow organic hemp to turn it into it's alcohol based fuel. I will get my life that it would be twice as good corn ever thought it was. Hemp batteries actually out done lithium and lipo by a good margin. That's the big reasons why Canada got to play with hemp and we didn't . We are owned and controlled by luciferin / devil worshipping bankers that doesn't want any American or earthing to be able to Benefit humanity or have the ability to take away any of there power . Apologise for right turn but I am one of many Native American's that wants to, will die trying at least to benefit humanity mostly just US Americans. Until then I have gotten back into RC . NITRO of all things only to find out that traxxas nitro engines are pretty much desk top paper weights . What kicks me in the Nuts is , Traxxas let's Losi, OS , and others to fix there fix able bad engineering . Speaking about there Uber brittle composite bodied carbs that crack, won't hold a tune , or hold it's fuel. But yet I live down the street from them . Yes when I go back to there retail store going to do my best to respectfully voice my 2 cents. Only to probably waste my valuable time trying to tell a Corp person about something they don't even care about. I am sick of being a sheep, sick of being looked down upon by someone who doesn't get dirty, hasn't actually had to work out here in the fields of the real world . To only get a educated F you from them . Apologize , yes my care , give a damn for my fellow human beings on earth is top priority . Well I might be a Care Bear , I can't help I made friends with thunder cats and they love me 😂. Keep up the good work.

@@leshulsey5674 See a lot of people believe nitro Is very explosive and unstable and it's actually not you can smack it had it do whatever I want with it doesn't blow up the only reason why it explodes and people are afraid of it is because people use it as an oxidizer to make bombs with It also has an extremely different fuel to air ratio because it Carries its own oxygen so in a gasoline engine the air fuel ratio would be around 14: to 1 where nitro is almost 6:1 It can almost burn without any air now with glow engines aka nitro They don't require nitromethane to run Since they work on a catalytic reaction with fairly mild to Loken pression you can just burn original glow fuel which is methanol and oil it will need a larger idle gap because the fuel does not contain its own oxidizer and it will be more sensitive to weather change a lot of people seem to think because these engines have a glow plug that they're similar to a diesel and in fact they're not even close There A low compression 2 stroke engine that relies on a catalytic reaction to run the plug actually stays a lit the entire time it's running because of the reaction Now the difference between diesel and kerosene some people believe they are the same and they're actually not diesel is much thicker And a more oil I then kerosene Which is more like paint thinner They both have different Ignition temperatures although you can burn both They both have different Ignition temperatures although you can burn Kerosene and a diesel engine it's not always the best for it since it doesn't have very much lubricity for it the injection pump and injectors Which run at extreme tolerance as and very high pressures around 5 30.000 PSI Now there is diesel RC engines which are variable compression no fuel injection and they run on a mixture of kerosene ether and Castor oil
