This is my first ride video of the NIU NQI GTS PRO electric scooter. Although actually due to the weather I had already ridden it before but still....
This is my thoughts on the bike after the first 80 miles.
Fully charged this bike has a range of about 45-50 miles in sport mode.

Best video I’ve seen on this bike, and I’ve watched over 20 or 30 now 😅 this had real statistics and also real driving, not country lanes but actually in a city and filtering, what’s it’s made for, not going to lie, I was staring at your left wing mirror constantly, as a non rider (atm) I’d be terrified of touching a car by accident

I saw reviews of the smaller NIU. This looks like a really cool scoot and it looks like a lot of fun to ride. Zooming through the traffic. Looking forward to the full review. Considering a lot of electric bicycles are two grand thus looks like good value for money.

Yes, that's the way I saw it Steve. 2,5k for a electric push bike limited to 14mph or 3.5 for a proper scooter. 👍

@@mariorjcorbin Apologies for the late reply, I've only just seen your post. I was in the middle mode for the long slow ride home, as I was restricted to 30mph all the way. I just took back roads. So far I love the scooter!

Yes I think so too. It's a bit niche but for what it is around town its ideal. I think if they bought a motorbike style with the same motor etc I think it would do well.

Nice first impressions. I'd definitely be interested if I was commuting into London again. I think it looks really nice. I'd have to go on a 50moh dual carriageway for a bit but it would probably keep up just about at 45 mph, and the rest is all 20mph anyway.

Yeap, I found it OK for 40mph zones but 50s was on the edge a bit but still OK. National stuff I had a couple closer followers...

Only negative I can find is the storage facility of a normal scooter is taken up by the batteries. Great review...

@@applecorp That would be a good choice too actually . They do look a lot of fun. Yes , I could try , Wont be till next year now though. This years rides are booked already. Il do my best and thanks for asking- its good to hear what bikes people are thinking of buying.

@@exeterrider loving it. Speedo packed up within 10 minutes of 1st ride. Faulty speedo, so after 3 days analogue speedo fitted but no fuel gauge anymore. Rear light unit came loose so got that sorted. Just teething problems. Great to ride and loves being revved now it's run in.

Very good review of a very good machine. One important issue that you should discuss in your next review is the battery life and deterioration in range over time. I have had an electric bike for nearly 5 years - initially the range was about 100 miles when ridden carefully. After 5 years it is now down to about 40-50 miles. I think it will probably be another 3-4 years before I have to replace the battery and then I will probably have to pay about £400.00 for a new one. Also I am not sure about whether the lithium battery can be recycled. Production of lithium batteries has an environmental impact . Electric transport is not as clean as is widely believed.

Ideal machine for town and city use. My personal preference would always be for a motorbike-style rather than scooter-style machine but that is only due to my ridiculous height and long legs. The advantage of bike-style is that you can add top box and panniers for practicality. These machines are the future. Hopefully other manufacturers will catch up with the Indian and Chinese whose Governments are encouraging them to produce electric machines.

Nice take. These kind are everywhere in Asia. They definitely have a place, people just need to get over the scooter image problem! I used a LuYuan electric moped for years. Absolutely abused it and it never failed. It had a max range of about 50k, I'm a heavy bugger. But it was great fun for what it was. So handy to nip to the park, shops or work. Never liked the aesthetics of the NIU though, I always see them in white and they look like a washing machine 🤣

Sorry i missed your comment. The white ones are the NIU sport's so different battery's and a few other things . Yes scooter's are not popular in the uk really. I enjoyed having the scooter and have had scooters in the past but more into motorbikes now. I have a bit more coming up on this one. Thanks for watching!

Good video very useful. As u said at the end that u weren't sure how many miles you had done it was 9 miles (341 Start 350 End) and you used 8% battery (95% Start 87% End)

Liked and subbed! Thanks for the review. I opted for the MQi+ Sport model a month ago but part of m wishes I had got the NGT model for the dual battery setup. The MQi charger is only 2A but I have seen 4A and 5.2A chargers available. Have you tried a higher amp charger on your bike?

I was supply Ed with a 5amp. It worked well, and gave reliable charge times👍more on charging in the full review in a few weeks, thanks for subbing👌😉👍

I like the fact you chose the black with white stripes-variant. Don't see that very often. Believe it or not, here in Belgium, in Antwerp, the police uses them in the white version......with blue stripes! 👍🇧🇪🤡

Very efficient for urban travel. In Honolulu, it would be stolen before you got both feet in the door. Personally, I think we should treat vehicle thieves like horse thieves back in the day.

Not sure how horse theives were treated but but yes bike theives are a nasty bunch certinly in London, the soft approach isn't working very well there. My vision of Honolulu is palm trees and stunning beeches but I guess everywhere has its "other type of People"

The bike comes with a free GPS tracker. Thus, the police can pin point the bikes location and retrieve your scooter. This should help lower insurance rates too.

Hey, new sub here. In your future video could you demonstrate changing the indicator sound? Also a suggestion a comparison between this machine and the BMW C Evolution (the cost gap is insane but from viewing a few videos I think NIU is the wise choice) Thanks for the review sir.

Really helpful review thanks, how secure did the batteries look to you? I understand the seat was not correctly locked in, but this is ideal for my train station 7 mile round commute through residential streets. Just to check do you own this or was it lent for a test ride? And did it have heated grips? I'm looking at this or the 28mph M+ Basic version about £1800

Hi it was a bike loaned to me for 2 weeks, it would be perfect for you and yes the battery's were secure. Remember you also get the tracker app at no charge! I would spend the extra and get the gts Pro... The battery tech is far better than the rest of the ranges. Have a look at the other video I made on this scoot. It would suit you well 👍🍻

I agonised over buying this bike for a long time. Instead, and also on the strength of your reviews, I ended up buying a Honda NC750X. For 70% of the riding I do, the NIU NGT Pro would have been a better choice of bike. Also, as an EV driver, I'm pretty much done with the internal combustion engine, the noise it makes and the changing of gears. In fact, in some ways I regret choosing the NC over this scooter. But, I really wished it had a bigger top speed (say 60mph) and a bit more acceleration and the NC is obviously a much better machine in general. My perfect two bike garage would have one of each.

I feel the same way Eric. I would have this as a second bike and also found me pulling out this one more than the NC. And also I think if it had a 60mph limit that would be more ever green, very rare that 45mph max caused a issue while I had it but its always in the back of my mind. Got out on the nc today, first time in 3 weeks and wow, it was good to get on it again! I still play with it in my mind about getting a NIU or alike sometimes because of its practical elements as a second bike and I love the app. It's a tough one, if it was in a motorbike style I would have bought it I reckon.

@@exeterrider I don't find it encouraging that Niu sell the identical bike for $800 in China. Applying a 3-4 X mark up just because it's being sold in the USA & EU is dubious. It's clearly overpriced, here for what it is...

@@Charlie-UK yes but everything is so much more complecated here though to be fair. More complicated taxes and shipping, import tax, Euro5 list goes on. Over there its right out the box.... That's the way it should be really 👍🍻

Could you please give us for future videos your height and a look when you sit on it for reference how big the bike is? Perhaps you can also give the Super Soco TC Max a look. It's more like a normal bike and a bit more powerfull with a 5k watt engine. The price is about the same.

@@exeterrider That's 172cm if Google doesn't lie 😉 I'm 187cm myself and can make a huge difference if the bike is a bit small. The market of EV's is exploding. A lot of new brands but that's always a big risk if your investment is still around €5-€10k. Hi Crofty. Basically it works on the wattage of the motor. For example this bike will need to be based on a 125cc, so you can ride it on L plates with a CBT at 17, however this is not classed as a moped because a 16 year old can't ride it on a CBT because its NOT limited to 30MPH. Hopefully that answers your question. 👍🍻😊

The future,but I got a pcx 125 brand new in april for £2395, at 130mpg which is the lowest its achieved, the 1000 saving is good for 20000miles of fuel plus, I admit I got a bargain but the pcx is a superb bit of kit. Over 200mile range and easy 55mph, I,m 6ft 4 too. Give it a few years a nd it,ll prob be electric with range and speed similar for less cost

The pcx is a great bike. Infact they do make a electric version of it but it's not got good range. But the petrol ones are good bits of kit.

@@exeterrider yes. I did,nt like the trials, came home from work a fri eve, saw the ride and I thought wow, that is lovely bike, bought mine sat morning ! My5th. Kick start naff on injected ones, pre unit has a higher gearing per kick so is much better. Only use kick for freeing clutch plates or when its freezing to save battery. The unit engine designed for elec start, auto decompression, so smaller battery does job.(ride means ur review) so its ur fault I spent 4100, I will forward the bill to you 😃

I can see a use case where a lighter model that drivers can dump in the car and complete the commute from out of town carparks with for the final miles and less range could become popular over time. Reduced parking costs and avoid the slow congestion of city centres. Obviously this model is too big and heavy for that.

where is everyone getting these figures from 20p? the scooter has a 4.2kwh battery (avg of 16p per kwh x4 = £0.64)

I just knocked everything off at my house one afternoon and charged it and went by the smart meter. It was 26p to be fair and that's was the only circuit on with the charger on it, from 12 percent to 100.

I'm sure there are places where these are great for transportation but if you are trying to be eco friendly electric vehicles are a bad idea because of the mining of materials for the batteries and having to recharge them over and over.

Yes but...... Lithium iron is 100% recyclable, petrol/gas isn't and causes 40000 deaths per year in the UK. Zero emissions on these rather than burning the fossil fuel them releasing it into the atmosphere. I have a up and coming video on this soon🍻👍
