Nivelles Circuit. A Trip Down Memory Lane. Exploring the Abandoned ex F1 Race Track.
The Nivelles Circuit hosted the 1972 and 1974 Formula 1 Belgian Grand Prix. It closed in 1981, after financial troubles. Since then it was left abandoned.
In 1998 I visited the abandoned circuit of Nivelles-Baulers (Belgium) for the first time. The ex F1 circuit was still in tact, but I was just in time. Later that year they start the demolition of the lost circuit, to change it into a business park.
20 Years later, in 2018, I visit it again. Today there is not much left of the track, only the last 3 corners and some remains of the Start/Finish straight and the back straight.
I take you for a trip down memorie lane and share the memories to my first visit in 1998.

It is a shame these old circuits are being bulldozed and being turned into housing developments or Business parks or even just left to become overgrown with trees, brush and grass! Glad we have someone like you to research and photo/video the remnants of these tracks! Keep up the great work!

Yeah it's sad to see the track dissapear. Those abandoned and overgrown circuits are cool places in a way. But it's also sad because of the lost of motorsport history. However, I rather see an abandoned track like Morano Po, wich is still in tact, than what they did with Nivelles. Not to mention what they did with old Hockenheim.

Wow this is incredible and interesting because my first memory was in 2008 (i think) so the old pictures of the circuit is quite different from what I saw

Sorry forgot about my visit 1994 when I was 7 (I was going through an old album and discovered I visited the track in 1994 so I'm very sorry about that)

@@Circuitsofthepast yes it all came back to me when I saw the pictures in the album and I had a strange feeling when I saw the photos that you took like I had been there but I just could not remember and now I can and I still remember that the first corner was crazy as the corner comes up on you as you ascend the small hill and turns 2 and 3 I even to struggle to go round them in a road car!

For me it's also a special place because it inspired me to the Circuits of the past website and (this) RU-vid channel. Two weeks ago I was still there. The're works now on the last remains of the track. I think over a year it's all gone. Soon I come with an update video about these last remains. Yeah there is not much left of the track. And as I said, next time I vitit it another part will be gone. Untill the day everything is gone.

Cars will be racing on the Nivelles track in some shape at the end of September. Belgian Westhoek Classic 2019 will have an RT on what remains of the track.

I was at the first revival in 2014: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-29SmZWJ5MgA.html They used only a few parts that are now public road. What really remained of the track is not drivable anymore.
