This channel has single handedly and rightly restored this good man’s reputation. What we would all give for a statesman like this on either side right now!
If you are say 55 or younger, you don't remember Nixon other than what TV and textbooks told you, and the basic takeaway was Watergate, crook, or the guy who sweated in the debate. Thanks to this channel for helping re-educate those who will listen.
@markydkiehl exactly! They have really tarnished this man as they have with most of history. It's all packaged into short term memory packets that they can brainwash you while claiming they are sophisticated and knowledgeable. Thus was wise leadership which made our Country the envy of the World and solid.
No - the overthrow of a democratically elected government of Chile by Nixon & Henry Kissinger with support for a military coup also ranks up there with the Nixon greatest hits!
You have to remember what's the position is in doing accurate comparison since we're talking about the president of the United States of America. If we look at Nixon compared to the other men who were presidents since the time of the out-of-control intelligence agencies, then that "greatest hit" that you mentioned wouldn't even be one of the worst album tracks of another president's discography. So to for some reason single out Nixon as this uniquely evil president is just plain irrational and the result of years of evil media conditioning.@@fluffy1931
@@Leto2ndAtreidesyes, the average voter is low information and highly emotionally manipulated. At which political party do you think almost completely has dominated the world's best professionals at manipulating emotions, Hollywood and the entertainment industry? Yes, that same party also completely owns operates programs and controls hundreds of millions to the mainstream media as well, ABC NBC CBS CBS MSNBC CNN Washington Post New York Times the guardian the Atlantic the Associated Press 85% of universities and professors, 85% of the FBI and The doj, Almost 100% of big tech, google, facebook, youtube, and more are all just extensions of the democratic party completely brainwashing controlling manipulating and telling hundreds of millions of their blind followers and who to like
Spoke calmly delivered a great point without over complicating it, used complete grammatically correct sentences. Didnt fall asleep, say "bigly or tremendous" 15 times, didnt sniff a womans hair, didnt call somebody lying or crooked. I like this Nixon guy
@@joannleichliter4308 Correct. Dems decided they would NOT share power with Pres. Thus there is no way to stop the wasteful and needless spending. In 90s GOP had a chance to rewrite those rules, but they failed that too. Clinton balanced budget, but to do so he cut Military Budget by 45%. That set us up for 9/11
He was right. He wanted to head off inflation. But they didn’t cut back so what happened was inflation came rip roaring in when Ford and Carter were presidents.
Yep, and until that idiot Brandon got in there, Carter was known as the worst president in American history, largely due to his disastrous economy. Which is a shame, really, because I think he has a good heart, nearly eradicating the Guinea worm and saving a ton of lives.
I remember Ford's response to inflation was to sell "WIN" buttons (Whip inflation Now" as if a SLOGAN could stop. Inflation is GREED. Whenever our wages go UP so do the PRICES as everyone wants a piece of our raise! So, beginning with Reagan inflation was kept in check when our wages FAILED to keep up with the cost of living.....
Although I was only a Teenager during President Nixon's term, I had nothing but High Regard for the Gentleman and believe he was one of the Greatest Presidents the USA ever had. (And that's why the Deep State had to get rid of him)
Oh, yes. He was set up, for sure. He had his flaws, and I sometimes disagreed with him (e.g., wage and price controls and his approach to China), but he was overall a good, thoughtful President.
It’s easy to become wistful about simpler times. In reality, Nixon was paranoid about a lot of things. The Watergate case is extremely well documented and the conspirators all spoke about their roles, particularly G. Gordon Liddy.
Justlike redwine: are you so sure of that? If so the FBI that spied on Trump were criminals? the payment by Hilary Clinton of millions of dollars for a fake Russian dossier would be a crime? the deliberate erasing of 33,000 e mails and the ashing of phones and latops to prevent the e mails being recovered by the Grand Jury would be a crime!?
❤ nixon picked up torch of freedom that fell from JFK1 's hands, when he was shot. He fought ww3 in Chile against nazis. Kicked off w "Make Em Scream." A Rep? He crossed sides to support Kennedy fam's fight against the NAZIS. Bush fam all NAZIS... Ditto Biden.
@@htimsid Oh yes there are plenty of comparisons, although they are very different in many ways, and one isn't around, the other is. But both Republican presidents. Both extremely popular, yet also unjustly hated and harassed. Both cared about helping taxpayers. Both accomplished a lot of good things.
Considering he was under Eisenhower as VP and then later got us out of Vietnam I would say he played a huge part in the shaping of our modern world. I am learning good things about him from this channel.
It's way past time to implement a balanced budget Constitutional amendment! We also need a term limit amendment imposed upon all members of Congress - both the House of Representatives and the Senate.
I am not sure how this came up on my shorts but I am glad it did I am enjoying his speeches I was never interested in politics growing up not even up to my high school graduation. ,❤ So much has changed since the 70s 80s and 90s, Now, new millennium new, decade, 2024. Leaders think more highly of themselves than the people they represent
I think this gentleman was in reality worth far more than the media of the time would have us believe. Compared to the overblown rhetoric of today's politicians he is almost saintly. It is true that with time and accrued wealth humankind has become more and more corrupt and prone to illegal acts. This makes the older generation now appear "cleaner" even if in their day they were perceived as corrupt or overstepping the mark.
Ohhhh, how I wish we could have another man like President Nixon in the White House today. He was such a great man and a great president. He was a true patriotic American.
Weren't fiscally responsible then, aren't responsible now. There are still people combing through the omnibus spending bill back at the beginning of Covid. Sad.
We are the ones not responsible. IT is up to us to turn it around and is truly the government. We must learn and apply what we learn to govern our employees in Congress.
Not everything as it appears, example, JFK was ordering the 500 advisors out of Vietnam, he was going to dismantle the CIA. JFK was lied to about the operation in Cuba, lied to about the Bay of Pigs, by the same " intel reports". The powers behind the CIA, black ops wanted JFK out, allowing the men to be trapped in Cuba, they release that info, and make their case via media reporters on the CIA payrolls...JFK is soft on communism...JFK's death, we send how many to Nam...blacks in particular ( done by LBJ ),,,Lady Bird, unbeknown to her owned a large portion of what was a going under helicopter company...Bell. Day one, LBJ reveses JFK, Bell builds the Huey, stock sores making millions for Lady Bird...cough, cough...As to the Gold...
The received truth about the elimination of the gold standard in the United States (and by extension, the U.S. Dollar being the world’s reserve currency, throughout the rest of the world) is that “Nixon did it”. While it is true that President Nixon, on August 15, 1971, suspended the convertibility of the U.S. Dollar into gold in international transactions, thereby ending the Bretton Woods regime and putting the “final nail in the coffin” of the gold standard, Nixon’s action was pre-ordained by what LBJ had done three and a half years earlier. On March 19, 1968, President Johnson signed a bill eliminating the “gold cover” (i.e., the reserve backing by gold) for Federal Reserve notes. Prior to the removal of the gold cover, each Federal Reserve Bank had been required to hold a gold certificate reserve of not less than 25 percent against its Federal Reserve note liability. (The gold certificates represented gold actually held by the United States Treasury.) When the gold cover requirement was removed in March of 1968, the ratio of the gold stock of the U.S. to the total Federal Reserve note liability stood at 25.0084 percent. (The Gold Cover, Joseph C. Ramage, Monthly Review of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, July 1968, pages 8 - 10). (See right side of graph, Gold Reserve and Federal Reserve Note Liability.) Immediate reaction at the time of the removal of the “gold cover” in March of 1968 was “negligible”, according to Joseph C. Ramage, the Richmond Federal Reserve official who chronicled the change in the law. (The Gold Cover, page 10.) But Mr. Ramage warned that the 1968 change could lead to a “parallel” with the 1965 change in the law that eliminated the gold reserve requirement for deposits of member banks held at the Fed. Over the three years following that 1965 elimination of the deposit reserve requirement, the U.S. gold reserve ratio dropped from well over 40 percent of Federal Reserve note liability to just over 25 percent. (See graph referenced earlier.) The precipitous decline in the gold reserve cover ratio between 1965 and 1968 was mainly due to two factors: First, there was an outflow of gold from U.S. gold reserves (in blue in the graph, US Federal Reserve Bank Gold Holdings). The net “earmarked” gold held for foreign accounts (in green in the graph, US Federal Reserve Bank Gold Holdings) did not decline materially. The outflow of gold from U.S. stocks was the result of foreign governments aggressively swapping gold for the dollars that were piling up overseas, as the U.S. balance of trade worsened. Second, there was a rapid increase in Federal Reserve Note liability, as dollars were created at an increasing pace. (See left side of graph, Gold Reserve and Federal Reserve Note Liability.) The post-1965 increase in Federal Reserve Note liability (i.e., dollars) paralleled the rapid increases in both the U.S. federal budget and the U.S. Federal budget deficit associated with President Johnson’s “guns and butter” policies, otherwise known as the “Great Society” and the Vietnam War. LBJ’s focus on “guns and butter”, and his removal of the gold cover, ushered in a new paradigm in how the U.S. economy would be run. Free market capitalism was “out”; government controlled “creditism” was in … and has ruled us, and the rest of the world, ever since.
3rd in his graduating class, served in the navy & Congress. He was faithful to his wife and daughters. He resigned to prevent putting the nation through an impeachment trial. He was a statesman!
Nixon sequestered money when he felt that Congress had overspent. That led to the passing of legislation (which we still have) that forces a President to spend money as authorized by Congress.
It sounds to me like he was calling out the congressmen. I don't think our elected leaders have the best interests of the common citizens in mind. Campaigns are mostly funded by soft money from corporations and very wealthy people who own them.
