As I said in my Far Hills video, while I was in Somerset County doing some Gladstone Branch exploring, I wanted to broaden my horizons and check out a couple more stations. I also decided to try to get some steps in, so I ventured on a 2-mile walk westward to Peapack station.
Compared to Far Hills, Peapack station is not very pleasing to the eye and appears to have been neglected for many years, despite it being a regular station stop. For starters, the waiting room (yes, I know it is shut down) looks dilapidated as anything and the parking lot definitely needs to be repaved as the road is extremely bumpy and does not feature any lines separating each parking spot.
Due to the time that I reached Peapack, I was only able to capture one westbound train, so the horn action may not be as great due to the proximity of my angles to the at-grade crossing. Usually, trains that clear crossings at a faster rate of speed provide better horn action.
Unlike, Aberdeen-Matawan station, which lies between the townships of Aberdeen and Matawan, Peapack and Gladstone is one city with two separate stations. The weird aspect about is that Peapack station is completely low-leveled with no accessibility ramps while Gladstone station is the complete opposite. If I had to take a guess, Peapack probably has less ridership compared to its counterpart.
Similar to Train #6406, the express Gladstone Branch train to New York Penn Station, Train #0434 (the last train of this video), the local Gladstone Branch train to Hoboken Terminal both do not originate at Gladstone station. Each of them deadhead to Peapack station, about 1 mile east, and begin service to their respective terminals.
With that being said, there is not much left to add, so I will leave it at that. If I missed anything in the description box, the text provided within the video should address any questions or concerns y'all may have. If you guys enjoyed the video, feel free to drop a like, comment, subscribe, share the video with everyone you know, and I will see you all on the next one! :D
