(2:05) - That’s not surprising. The AAR - at some point - declared the old K-type brake system illegal for interchange service, though rail cars in captive service or MOW could still use them. Since these cars were still operational until the 1980s, they definitely would have the newer AB- or ABX-type brake system. In addition, they would have received a set of Bettendorf freight trucks to replace the arch-bar trucks they started out with, then either roller-bearing converted Bettendorf trucks, or actual roller-bearing trucks as seen on pretty much all freight cars in interchange service on the North American rail network today.
