Born and raised in San Francisco, Ive been a giants fan all my life. The bottom of the eight made me cry. So glad we won. The tomahawk gives me chills now too
I was at this game. Insane atmosphere, proud that the braves have the best fans in the MLB. I could have sworn that the top bleachers we were sitting on were about to collapse. Watching this game now, I cringe at how close we were to winning this game, and possibly even stopping the Giants dynasty.
Lifelong Braves fan. I don't care about the errors, I still love Brooks Conrad. The fact is the Braves wouldn't have gone to the post season if it weren't for Conrad in the first place. His super clutch hits throughout the season is what won the NL East division.
Romo blew that game and almost took a loss. Ge was struggling most of that 2010 Postseason until the 2010 World Series where he heated up and did well. Better han Ramon Ramirez he sucked and was a horrible acquisition by Brian Sabean
Braves win World Series in 2021. Posey is retired. Huff is pretty much banned from the team. Crazy how things change in 10 years. Feels like yesterday.
I think it will be the Tigers and the Cardinals in the World Series if the Tigers can get past the A's because that would be so cool to see the two teams that lost to the Giants last year in the NLCS and World Series against each other. If the Tigers dont get past the A's then it will be the REd Sox agianst the Cardinals
You wonder if the Giants' current dynasty would have gotten off the ground if not for this game. In a 1-1 series, to lose on a 2-out, 2-run homer in the 8th inning after leading the whole game would have been a pretty traumatic defeat and they would have had their work cut out facing elimination the next day, especially considering the team had no postseason experience at that time.
The Giants didn't lose an elimination game until 2016. Game 4 starter was Bumgarner, Game 5 would have been Lincecum. They probably win the series anyway.
So long as it's not the Dodgers, I'm happy (even though I hate the A's, I'd not mind them winning a World Series since it would have numerous financial incentives towards my region of the SF Bay Area)
Really??? You wouldn't survive as a Braves fan then. 2010: We had this game WON with 2 outs, and Brooks Conrad BLEW IT. This basically bounced us out of the playoffs. 2011: The Braves have a historic September collapse with a 7 game Wild Card lead, to let the Cards squeak in and eventually win the World Series. 2012: A second Wild Card is added (Really coulda used that in 2011, ya know) and we lose the "Infield Fly" game against, who else, the Cards. You would've committed suicide by now...
You forgot to mention that in 2002 the Braves had a 2-1 lead against the Giants and let it get away. THe Braves also had 2-0 against the Yankees in the 1996 World Series and were 6 outs away from taking a 3-1 lead in the series but the JIm Leyritz home run said otherwise. Just thought Id help you with some other input.
That '02 loss hurt. Atlanta was the best team in baseball that year but lost to the Giants in the first round, which is another bit of proof that the best-of-five format is garbage. Atlanta trailed, 3-1, going to the ninth, and Rafael Furcal, who seldom was clutch, reached first -- via error. Then he stole second, and Julio Franco singled to right-center, and then I was pumped. Ohh, I was pumped.
I'm actually a Giants fan so I don't mind when the above happens LOL (there was also the 2010 NLDS). I know I didn't make it clear above that I root for SF but I bleed orange/black ;)
Here are the time stamps of Tim Lincecum yelling "Fuck yeah shut up!" for those interested: 3:03:43 - 3:04:34 and the best one IMO: 3:05:19 A huge thank you from all Giants fans to the national broadcast for playing that 3 times.
2010: We had this game WON with 2 outs, and Brooks Conrad BLEW IT.>>> Irrelevant. The Giants still would have tied it up in inning 9, forcing an extra innings deal But regardless, I'm rooting for the Braves to both beat the Dodgers and make the World Series (if that makes you feel better)
sorry brother but the Giants just seem to own the Braves in the post season. Remember the 2002 NLDS the Braves had a 2-1 series lead but the Giants bounced back in games 4 and 5. And now this series
Okay. Somebody remind me WHY Brooks Conrad was even in this series. Let alone left in the lineup when it was an open FACT that he was a lousy defensive player????
Braves fan still blames B.Conrad when in fact F.Sanchez beat C.Kimbrel with the game on the line..and A.Huff came through against the LH reliever after Cox panicked and removed Kimbrel..bottom line is the better club won and advanced..
