I have been using the filament system for a few months now, and I really hope that they add this to more of their product lines. So much rich information to turn any bible into a study Bible.

If you don’t mind my asking, what were your thoughts on text size and the text block? I know you said it’s readable but that seemed to be the only comment you had on the text. My 40-something eyes aren’t bad but they aren’t perfect either. I had purchased a NLT Spirit-Filled Life Bible which claimed to be 9pt font but the text block with its center cross references made it so painful to read that I ended up returning it. My congregation uses NKJV which is great for Sunday and Wednesday services and study but for my daily reader I prefer something like the NLT that flows more naturally and I was contemplating trying this one.

After researching the text size, it is reported to be 8.5point. This is just slightly smaller than the bible that you returned. Tyndale is using the Lucerna typeface, while not as comfortable to read in smaller type as Zondervan's comfort print, is on the edge of being easy to read to me as well. The real positive that I have found with this bible is the word study and the side bar text is the same size font. I run into issues with with bibles like my ESV study bible (Handy size) that starts with a Lexicon 7.7 main font and the notes drop to a 6 (which is the bare minimum for readablilty for me).

If I was elderly I would use non prescription reading glasses for sure. They have them at Costco.

I’m thinking of ordering this Bible from Amazon, however, I do have a question: How soft is the leather-like cover(s)?

Most of the bonded leather covers from other manufacturers have a consistency that can be more plastic like. This one actually has a good feel and color to it. It’s pretty soft and I think it will actually wear well over time.

So many of the study and premium bibles use small print which does make it hard for my older eyes!! A font size of 10 minimum and preferably a 12 is really appreciated! I have a couple bibles with 14 size font that I can read just about anywhere! When you get up to 16, I feel like I’m reading a child’s coloring book! But 12-14 is really ideal for me! LOL! Yes, I prefer that sweet spot of between nine and 12 myself, I do have a couple of pocket Bibles that are at 6-7 point which is barely readable. Sometimes it’s not just a font size but what specific font they use. I had accidentally bought a giant print Bible that I ended up giving to my mother and she and her husband absolutely enjoys it. And yes, I feel like I could’ve read that Bible from the other side of the room. lol

I am finding as I go through my bibles that I really like and prefer at least a 12 and up to a 14! With a 14 my light doesn’t have to be perfectly bright! I can read a 10 in good light, but in faint light it is tougher…and my eyes are t going to get younger!!
