NMR is a widely used spectroscopic method to deduce chemical structure. It has become a central tool for chemistry, medicine, materials science, and engineering. This animated video shows the behavior of nuclei in a magnetic field, magnetic resonance, and explains how the NMR spectrum is used to understand chemical structure. Rather than go into the quantum theory and mathemantics of NMR, the goal of the video is to provide a visual model to help students and life-long learners gain a deeper understanding of NMR. It should be noted that the animation of the continuous spin state transitions is not representative of the actual quantized behavior of the spin states.
