Ahe is already a favorite of mine. I love her creativity and tenacity. Ahe varies her spins and can really rip some hard and flat. Maybe she can keep going?
@@gloriaa.garcia3985 It helps because she can concentrate on just doing her thing without thinking of money unlike most players who has to juggle finance with training while still climbing up the ranks. However it still takes talent and discipline to achieve her success.
@@r2zdena if Gauff could reach #2 due to the instability of the top 10 players then Navarro can as well. Navarro has an all surface game too where Gauff is weak on grass
@@johnnythunder196 Gauff did not reach #2 because of the instability of the top 10 players, she won a slam and had to win 7988 points to take the #2 spot. Someone like Badosa (5045 points), Jabeur (4340 points), or Kontaveit (4326 points) were ones who stumbled into the #2 spot during a weak year on the tour without winning a slam. But yes Gauff is weak on grass indeed and won't be a major threat at Wimbledon. I think Emma and Coco both have very good chances at the Olympics and the US open
@@Plaspos Gauff reached #2 because of weak draws (to an unprecedented level), weak minded opponents & most of her tournaments being on US soil. Staying healthy has been a huge aspect of it to...she never misses time & therefore always has a chance to defend points with at least the first 3 rounds being complete cupcake opponents.3000+points to defend coming up. Will be lucky to be #4 by mid September.
@@deusexmachina9776Yeah, but it's pretty clear that she has ice in her veins and steady nerves. Navratilova was complimenting Emma for her maturity and mental toughness before this match on Tennis TV. Emma has specifically said she especially enjoys the "problem solving aspect of the game."
@@deusexmachina9776 No, it doesn't. Coco is ranked 2 and her lack of mental toughness and equanimity is the weakest part of her game. That weakness was on conspicuous display in this match especially. Sabalenka was also known for her uneven emotions, but has improved dramatically in this respect since the end of 2022. Ostapenko is also not exactly icy. I could go on.
I’m so sick of Chris Evert speaking about how great Coco is nonstop. She openly oohs and aahs for Coco. I’ve never seen an announcer so biased for someone. At one point she’s talking about how is Emma going to get to Coco’s serve it’s been untouchable tonight. Meanwhile at that point in match Coco had been broken once and 2 points away from being broken again. It makes me root against Coco just to shut Chris up
@@MsDebs73 exactly and wouldn’t even acknowledge Rybakina as a favorite as well. Chris Fowler tries non stop to get Chris Evert to act like a commentator and keep her personal ire’s out of it. I swear I’m no longer really a Coco fan anymore because everytime she plays I have to listen to Chris Evert talk non stop about how great she is
Navarro played an incredible match, but Gauff crumbled mentally. Too much asking her box for answers instead of finding them herself. Navarro is so focused and absolutely nothing phases her which is so impressive.
hardly an upset. Navarro is solid and can beat any top 10 WTA player on any given day. and she has natural flowing skill similar to Ash Barty that many current WTA players don't have including Gauff
Emma Navarro is one of the most technically sound players I’ve ever seen. Everything is textbook perfect from movement to strokes, not to mention her variety and creativity. She would be the perfect person to model your game around, man or woman.
@@danielnowak2958 Better if Paolini wins it as she has a great chance as passing Gauff in the rankings by year end. If Rybakina wins it she's a lock to pass Gauff in the rankings as Gauff has 3500 points to defend over 3 tournaments.
@@nickpappas6151 that so great ..her fans are worried and WTA ringing their hands .. and rubbing their heads trying to figure out a way for that not to happen to their little star
@@jameslandrum160 She's not playing Washington instead opting for the Olympics...that should be 500 points off the board but i wonder if they'll find a loophole to prevent her from losing those points
This was Emma”s match all the way! She really saw the court and used her skills to move Coco and jam her up on the forehand. There are so many talented US women that get scraps of media coverage left over after the praise and adoration of Coco. I’m not blaming Coco for her media attention or easy draws but the rankings are distorted numbers from her US Open win. There are quite a few players that have the total tennis package and the tennis smarts that play better than Coco. Danielle, Madison, Pegula and Emma are playing better on the US side. Swiatek, Sabalenka, Rybakina and Paolini are all better competitors. It will be interesting to see how she continues as these other players are just improving so much every major. Exciting to watch.
The return of serve is perhaps the most transformed shot I've seen over the years. Serves that one would have expected to be winners are now coming back into play. Witness Emma's body contortions on some of them.
.just slice to coco forehand side. Her western grip forehand makes it hard to get under the ball. Emma mixed it up alot and gave her different spins and came in to pressure her. What a talent!
Emma is gonna win quite a few slams ,very composed player ,if she ups her game a bit she will be a real treat on all surfaces ...Best of luck for the rest of this tournament ❤
Emma gained a following today amongst casual US fans (who presumably tuned in to see Coco roll). Who wouldn't be impressed with Emma's performance, attitude & clean-cut good looks.
@@thelawofdivineoneness458She’s been coming back since SW19 2019. Always a teen. No longer. It was her tournament for the taking. But she doesn’t do well against seeded players, albeit ones 17 seeds below her.
@@nickpappas6151 Heck yeah! Coco the Protege😂 I still don’t understand how Sabalenka bottled US open finals. Even Muchova gave it away on semis. Big fan of Karo Muchova. Hope she comes back stronger this year. Tired of watching pushers 🥱
Coco has an incredible career already; even a slam and multiple slam finals. She is a solid top 5 player and I hope she improves. Today was not her day and that’s tennis. Congrats to the billionaire heiress for some solid grass court play and for the win.
Not enough time for proper grass preparation after clay season and Olympic Games on clay in 3 weeks after Wimbledon. Olympic Games is not for money or ranking points but for some top players it can represent serious value, I would not be surprised if Gauff is seriously thinking about olympic medal as she feels much better on clay than on grass.
Can’t say she’s a choker when she has a Grand Slam in her bag at 20 years old. Don’t understand why so many people want to see her fail. Didn’t see so much hate for Sakkari or Kasatkina who both lost their 3rd round match (against lower seeds) after breezing through their early rounds. And neither have a GS in their bag.
Coco was so hyped after 3 easy wins against ... wait ... 2 Qualifiers and a player with ranking 60 ??? Once she faced a real oppontent all wheels came off. Emma played so intelligently by rallying into Coco's forehand and patiently waiting for the unforced error. The last point of the match tells the whole story.
Stunning! Emma is the first player that’s now gotten me excited to watch since Federer’s retirement. She’s so creative, knows how to work with the laws of physics and has a thirst to win. This was my first time seeing her and I can’t wait for her next match! P.S. To those running this channel: I have to say it feels a disservice to the players and fans to have such a limited set of "highlights." This match could have easily yielded 7-10 minutes of quality highlights.
But Emma has such a beautiful style for sure. A breath of fresh air on the circuit which seems to have turned into a competition of who can hit harder!
Being a Coco fan is hard some days but Navarro has been cooking all year and I knew this was going to be a tough one. I look forward to seeing her break the top 10 before the end of year.
Navarro naprawde gra swietnie. Juz po meczu z Osaka pisalam, ze moze znaleźć sie w finale bo jej gra jest urozmaicona, techniczna, umiejetnie wywazona miedzy sila a precyzja. Poziom ciagle rośnie.
It really stuns me that the odds makers were favoring her to win it all over everybody right from the start. She's not good on grass, never has been. Bad idea to bet on Iga on grass for the same reason. Bet on Rybakina on grass, her game suits it very well. She should have been the odds on favorite to win from the beginning of the tournament.
Correct. She's only rated #2 in the world because the calculations are fudged to fit the BLM/George Floyd agenda. Pushing it down our throats just like with all TV commercials these days, even though said race only numbers 15% of the U.S. Pop.
Gauff will never be the next Serena its sad and unfair that they media celebrated her as the next Serena she clearly doesnt have the same talent but she seems down to earth ill give her that 😊
First decent player on grass and Coco cracks. She's just not good on grass yet. Emma on the other hand is solid, cool, calm and collected. Bright future is in store for her.
This Coco I would respect " seems I get a lotta calls and my opponents either don't play all that well against me or they set me up for easy draws"!!! " I know I have a lotta talent but not to the degree they seem to want to hype me" That Coco I would respect "reality Coco" not prancing Coco who goes about " I'm the greatest I'm the greatest I'm the greatest based on bullshit manipulated results!!
Not just Coco Alcaraz averages 3 dust bowl calls a match by that I mean foot long out balls in the dust beyond the the baseline at Wimbledon The predrawn slide projector schematas suitable to whatever conclusion they want are a joke too ! When they replayed Kenin's she just swatted her hand like it was meaningless bullshit!! Not all the public is dumb! And certainly not me😊😊
I love Coco but just hitting the ball hard is not enough today, it might have been enough 25 years ago but not anymore when almost all players can hit the ball pretty hard.
She was completely unable to problem solve out there, repeatedly appealing to Brad Gilbert for coaching. Athleticism isn't enough in tennis. Coco hasn't reached her potential yet. I expect she'll win more majors, but I do think her problem solving and mental toughness are areas of potential growth for her.
Do the young generation STUDY past LEGENDS as well as current opponents' skillset? the WTA is not enjoyable with so many one time champions..Coco and Sabalenka SHOULD dominate
She won't win any more they fix so many calls for her still didn't work ( for example her forehand to right side baseline and sideline against blond girl was way out no matter what " blind eye" I mean hawkeye said They slide phony schemata preprepared under projector!! No doubt that was long! No cheat win today Coco!
She always blames someone..they're taking to long even if there a shot clock running or she drinking water or the rel made wrong call when he did not..
